Unfriendly, poor service. Limited menu. We ordered 2 burgers cooked medium. the wait was adequate, but we received our food dry and over cooked. Asian food was overcooked, salty and soggy. Had to get up to retrieve to go boxes, and check as server did not come back to our table. Check includes an 18% gratuity which I asked to remove as I prefer to leave the tip in cash. The Mashgiach, who seemed to be managing the restaurant refused to remove insisting that a gratuity is not "a tip". He was EXTREMELY rude, calling us racists who murdered his people. I didn't make the connection at the time that he is anti-Israel, accusing the Ashkenazi Jews of murdering Yemenites. What did this have to do with leaving a cash tip? I asked him for the owner who he insisted he would not disclose. We left the restaurant traumatized and in disbelief that fellow Jews would be treated with such hatred and contempt. We were hesitant based on past reviews but I am so glad we gave Cherry Grill a try! Let me preface this by saying, I have a shellfish allergy. This makes it extremely hard for me to eat out at Asian/Chinese restaurants. Cherry grill is kosher, so there is no shellfish on the menu. While they had some American based dishes, most of the dishes is what you would find in a typical Chinese restaurant. I ordered the General Tso's chicken. It came out quickly and fresh with a side of rice. We also ordered chicken lo mein. Both dishes were delicious and we left full and still had leftovers for lunch the following day. We also ordered the spring rolls (wish there were more than 2 per order though) and the egg drop soup. The soup was creamy and fresh. The rolls were also crispy, filled with fresh veggies and a house sauce. While the prices may be a bit higher, the portion sizes make up for the price difference. You are also going to pay a higher price point for Kosher (just as you would for organic, farm to table, etc). We went on a Thursday evening and the poor place had an unexpected rush (I'm talking 20 sit downs and at least 10 takeouts in 30 mins for a small three man crew) yet maintained the speed of the food. I had a business meeting in New Jersey and decided to go have lunch afterwards with a friend who keeps Kosher so we decided to eat at Cherry Grill. I got a nice variety of options while here including beef and sesame chicken. I also had a spring roll and a side of rice. First, the beef and chicken were both very good. The chicken was nice and tender with a crispy outside and a nice sauce. Unfortunately, the beef was a bit hard and wasn't too large, though it had some nice fresh vegetables. However, it was nicely seasoned. The spring roll and rice were both pretty good as well. Altogether, this is a solid restaurant that serves above average Chinese food. read more

Let's start with the good. We ordered an avocado roll, egg drop soup, Szechuan chicken and chicken and cashews (with white sauce). The food was pretty good. The bad: Every single patron-facing employee evidently HATES that they work there. I sat myself. I got my own menu. I got my own silverware. I got my own noodles. I got my own water from the un-bused table next to us. Our order was partially incorrect. I asked about the Yelp free appetizer and the waitress only said " No. That's old." At first glance, it's an average eatery with decent food. However once you've begun your journey into this amalgamation of a restaurant, you will discover outrageous prices for mediocre food, dreary atmosphere, and a server with his office in the middle of the dining room. Menus were edited with pen (sushi and almost every price was completely crossed out) and service was next to none, yet they have the wit to charge a 18% gratuity. Also, the "fried rice" was boxed yellow rice. In truth, the food was fine i suppose and it was an "okay" place, however I cannot understand why the prices were so astronomically high for such abysmal quality, especially in the New Jersey suburbs. I'm surprised by these reviews. I went in with low expectations due to the reviews. I went to this restaurant with my family and a family friend who keeps kosher. Everything we got was delicious. We ordered chicken finger appetizer, my sister got ribeye steak (flavorful and good perfect), I got the ribeye shishkabob which was also very good (though I liked the steak better). We had to basically do everything except for cooking and running the food, my wife played the role of hostess for us, which was not what we were looking to do. The ambiance was lacking, as when we walked in there were boxes at the entrance. Cherry Grill is simply lacking in a positive experience. The portion sizes were incredibly small. The chicken tenders had minimal meat. The wonton soup was descent, but the hot and sour had beef. (Vegetarians be warned.) Sushi was not available this Sunday night as they were "too busy" but having only one waitress doesn't really help them turn tables any more quickly. The menu didn't detail what the sushi was either, rolls with creative names doesn't explain what the combinations are. My advice, stay clear. Vegetarian Chinese would be a better option by far, but if you're looking for kosher meat, try some place else. read more

This is one of the only kosher options in that area and a number of individuals in our group are kosher, so we picked this over the other option that seemed a little less conducive to group seating. Food was absolutely atrocious. Thick, gloppy sauce on "Chinese" food. Rice was flavorless. Coffee was served with a kosher creamer in small "pods" but I don't think any liquid creamer is supposed to have peculiar white lumps in it. Here's what the Cherry Grill Kosher restaurant needs to do to succeed! 1st and foremost get better cooks! All Asian/Chinese people cannot cook! Find and hire those who can and who are not just home chefs but professional chefs OR have a chef come in to train them to cook with passion and love and not just for a paycheck. The general Tso' chicken was okay but dry! The brown fried rice was soggy and lumpy! Please invest in a rice steamer or get a better one. Overall the food tasted like most attempts myself and others try at home! Also please hire trained servers! As one reviewer wrote please remove the boxes from sight when you come in the door! The high prices and portion size of the food do not match the taste or service! The restaurant is very nice, clean and modern but the food, service and servers do not match the décor. Again, prices are high! Diners Drive Inns and Dives will not be visiting! Then again you need to contact a Bobby Flay or that English guy who goes around saving peoples restaurants! At least he won't have to spend too much on the décor but perhaps make it more inviting! read more

I went to Cherry Grill. I found their service and food to be terrible. Regardless of the fact that there were only a few tables being utilized, it still took a few minutes to be seated. Once seated, they decided to clean the table. Once being seated, we did not receive menus for at least 10 minutes. I then got up myself and collected enough menus to satisfy my table. Once we were done perusing the menus, we then had to get up and summon a waitress. The waitress came, without an emotional expression, and we ordered. While waiting for our order, we still did not receive any water that seemed to accompany the other patrons, so once again, I had to get up and request water. Once our food came, we proceeded to eat it. What I did notice is that not all of our party had the required utensils to eat the food. So once again, I made my way to the counter to collect those items. I am certain that all the food is microwaved. I am pretty certain that I am entitled to the pre-imposed tip that was attached to the check. I would not recommend this establishment. In addition, I would recommend eating elsewhere... When I arrived I was told I didn't order online, that they had no order, that I am in the wrong place. When I said what the order was, AND gave an order # the young man was quick to shut me down and say no. He didn't even bother to TRY to look up my order. Upon further checking by another employee they found my order. Whatever this online source was, somehow they turn it into a phone-in order (super strange. Really, I did not call in this order). FINE. No biggie. Normally these issues do not bother me, but when the staff is rude it becomes a problem. Now, to make matters worse they are telling me I did not pay online. I assure them that I, in fact, did pay online with my company's credit card. "No, we have no payment." Again, fine I can figure this out later as I am in a rush, but the attitude was not necessary. I proceeded to pay AGAIN with my personal card. Finally rushing back to the office. The spring rolls came out pretty burned, when my friend brought it up to the host he laughed in my friends face and told him they were the last two they had so he didn't know what to do for him. Add the glue like BBQ sauce on the side that I'm pretty sure was ketchup doctored with dark brown sugar and you have my dinner. I chose plain white rice and that was stiff and dry as the fried rice like it sat out open to long after cooking or was leftovers from another day. Frosting on the cake was the wife had to ask for tea,usually a staple at any Chinese themed place.The waitress brought out a pot and when the wife poured,it was clear.No,not clear like tea,clear like water. Inside the pot was two,yes,two teabags that weren't even steeped before being dropped on the table.Two teabags for a six cup pot? No,it wasn't busy ,so that some mistakes can happen. Three tables were occupied;one finishing up with two people,one just served with two people ,and our massive group of three.I drove thirty miles round trip for this and an $85.34 bill? We live nearby in Lower Merion and work in Manhattan so we get the kosher restaurant scene. My wife and I walked in on a sunny Sunday afternoon at 1:00pm for lunch. The place was empty. The afternoon did not start off right when we had to yell to announce we were there and all we got was a blank stare from the man in the kitchen. We sat ourselves and the waitress brought the menus. Again, a stare down. No 'welcome to Cherry Grill', no 'hello', just a blank stare down. The only item greeting us was a used broken toothpick at shoulder level, sitting on the ledge on the other side of the glass table divider. We opened the menus and saw insanely high prices for the area. We would have given it a try if they were at least courteous, but for an appetizer and entree for two for $50+, no way in Cherry Hill! It's not like we were in Teaneck, Lakewood or Manhattan. So we got up and left with a polite 'good-bye but not today' from us. Not one reply from the wait staff or manager. AI am writing an update to my previous review on this restaurant since my last one was filtered, and I had the unfortunate task of attending a party here. This place is still, as it was months ago, not a very nice place to come and dine. I recently HAD TO attend a family function here for a traditional after-wedding celebration. The tables were not set up in time, there was mass confusion in the kitchen about how much food to serve the 30+ guests, and we ended up running short. It was a complete disaster. The owner apparently had given the party coordinator (The mother-of-the-bride's best friend) a hard time about the amount of food to serve for the price per head. When all was said and done, we ended up short on food. SHORT ON FOOD. On top of everything else, my wife had gotten up from her table to ask the waitstaff for some more soda for the table, and was told that soda was an EXTRA and she had to clear it with the owner first before serving it. Soda is extra? Unbelievably rude waitstaff. They wanted our party out of there because it was getting close to their close time, and they made it known by how quickly they cleaned off our table. The food was bland to begin with, the drinks were not supplied in a timely fashion and half of us were left to fend for ourselves by asking and asking and asking for refills. The appetizers were egg rolls that tasted old and scallion pancakes that were underdone and dripping with grease. The main courses were a lo mein that was cold and completely tasteless, sesame chicken that was edible but rubbery, beef and broccoli that was rubbery as well, and another dish that escapes my mind....because none of it was memorable in a good way. The mother of the groom whose best friend hosted the party ended up apologizing to many of us in the parking lot for the terrible food and service. The poor woman only wanted to celebrate the marriage of her son to a beautiful woman, but ended up so dreadfully embarrassed. The bride's family lives down here in Cherry Hill and has been to the restaurant a few times. The groom's family lives in Northern Jersey, so needless to say, this was their first and very last visit to Cherry Grill. No one seems to really care here, and it's just disappointing to see such a lack of motivation to run a restaurant that is at least "decent." Chairs were as sticky as the last time I was here, floor was just as crumb-covered, the register area at the front of the restaurant is a complete disorganized mess....VERY unprofessional. Still just a bad place for my Jewish friends to come. On the upside, the cooks were wearing gloves this time. When you're kosher and need a decent meal while traveling, you pretty much take what you can get. Cherry Grill is that pleasant surprise in the kosher- traveling journey. We called very close to closing time and ordered a few meals to pick up, then once we arrived, we changed our minds and decided to sit. We were very preoccupied and barely thought about the service while we were there, but once we left, we took notice of how pleasant and accommodating the servers were. We pre-ordered over the phone to have the food ready when we get there from the Menu online. After receiving the bill everything doubled. They said that's standard practice for eat-in. Failed to let me know that my order would double just for sitting down. Very deceiving practice. P.S. there is no note on the online menu saying that the prices are for takeout only. Best Burger I have had in ages!! Comparable to NY Kosher restaurants. Others in my party had Chinese entrees which looked great too. Very large sharable portions (although I devoured my burger topped with grilled pastrami on my own!!!) Fries were great. This is the only Kosher meat restaurant in Cherry Hill, and the wednesday night we went, it was almost full. The restaurant is upscale, with an open kitchen, several tables on the left as you enter, and a line of half booths on a raised area to the right. The menu is available on their website, but is a combination of veal, duck, chicken, beef, and lamb dishes, some Chinese dishes, and a wide range of sushi. They have a children's menu (very limited) which consists of an $8 hot dog/fries, and $8 sliders/fries. We ordered onion rings which had too much breading but we ate them anyway. The $5 order consisted of only 5 onion rings, which I thought was a bit of a rip-off. The children's hot dog was on the small side, and my 8 year old nephew was still hungry after it, so I had to pony up another $7 for an order of sushi. My dragon roll was very good and fresh. My son had the chicken tenders, which he said were not great but he finished them off anyway. The prices are high, but if you go on Restaurant.com you can get a $25 gift certificate for $10 (less, if you google a promo code for the site). I would go back and try the Chinese, and judging from the crowd, the rest of the food is equally good. Given that it is the only Glatt Kosher restaurant in South Jersey, I want to support this restaurant, because most of my family is Kosher (I'm not), and I'd like to see it succeed. read more

We had an unpleasant lunch. We ordered two hamburger platters - they had no coleslaw to give us but worse than that was the two were half raw (we ordered it medium) and impossible to eat. The waitress came over and said sorry. She took 2.10 off the check. Last time we had chewy sandwiches there but thought we would give the restaurant another chance. No more choices.
