Enjoyable authentic Jewish style deli in Cherry Hill (Heavy Chill), NJ, with a definite New York vibe. Large display cases showing their wares, mirrored wall that doubles its rather long and narrow dining room, and excellent personable service by Jaime, the house Blythe spirit. I went with a bowl of Cabbage Soup (just like grandma used to make) and an odd curiosity called a Hot Dog Knish (kosher garlicky frankfurter held within a large mashed potato knish). I love hot dogs and kvell for good knishes, so why not? Both were totally filling and satisfying, although one end of the sausage was hard as a rock from too much time in the heat, while the rest was fine. Just cut it off and devoured the rest. The difference between four stars and a perfect score. The lunchtime crowd appeared to be mostly single older dudes doing sit down, and older ladies doing takeaway. I guess that was normal there and based on experience with each other because they didn't interact at all, but seemed to recognize one another. And, then there was Jaime, holding the scene together as she greeted, served, cashiered and smiled at everyone. Very adept. The kibitz room has returned after a short closure... And it looks like it's back to the way it used to be! Super friendly staff when you walk in, the dining room was filled, the pickle bar fully stocked and fresh. All of the salads and sandwiches and meats being cut in the back and sandwiches being slung out. The matzo ball soup ... With the softball size matzo balls, and the delicious broth was awesome. I had the glutton for punishment triple-decker sandwich with pastrami corned beef Swiss coleslaw thousand Island dressing on rye... Omg delicious. We also had the chicken salad sandwich which was also tasty as well. Good to see them back open and another option for your Jewish deli favorites. read more

I randomly found out about the Kibitz Room from a random Facebook post about pickle bar! I had actually never been to this area, but I was driving through a few months after originally learning about it and decided to make a stop. I'm so, so happy I did!! There's ample parking here, as it's in a strip mall. If you dine in, you can have a seat and a server will help you--and also invite you to grab a drink and visit the pickle bar. The pickle bar is what dreams are made of!!! What an absolute treat. The sandwich and potato pancake were also fantastic. Service was great. I'm writing this review about a month and a half after visiting, and I'm wishing I could be right back there. Great spot!!!! read more

I used to go to the Kibitz Room a lot. That was, before a new delicatessen moved in down the street, since this was the only one in the area. The corned beef sandwiches are tasty, but waiting for my order usually takes forever, or they often forget something attached to the order. The prices are generally much much higher than you would pay for a sandwich at the neighboring Wawa in the same shopping center. But then again, you're not coming here to order Wawa. You're coming here to experience an authentic Jewish delicatessen. The interior dining area is relatively small and much too bright with the overhead lights, surrounding mirrors, and windows by the entrance. But most delicatessens try to have that super-bright atmosphere (which I never really understood the logic behind that). However, the service is generally pleasant, and the pickle bar is amazing. It's also easy to get to with a private parking lot that connects the entire shopping center. read more

I must start with the fact that I am very critical of kosher delis. This is likely due to the fact that I come from a deli family and have very high standards when it comes to the classic staples of these places. While there was nothing by extremely exciting about the food we ordered from The Kibitz Room, there was nothing very underwhelming about it either. It was simply just good enough. I feel like had we eaten in-restaurant, the experience may have been slightly different, and I may return at some point to experience that meal. However, based on my go-to order of a corned beef special and matzah ball soup, there was nothing all that impressive to bring me back. I wanted to highly enjoy the food and while the sandwich was good, not great; the matzah ball brought everything down a notch. The consistency was good and the size of the ball is wild...it's absolutely huge. However, it simply doesn't taste the like anything at all. Almost like just spongy plain matzah meal held together with something like a fatty paste. While that sounds more awful than it is, the best matzah balls are made with schmaltz, chicken fat, and it brings a ton of flavor, not only to the ball, but to the soup. I cannot put my finger on what was truly lacking here but it really took away from my whole experience. I did like that the sandwich was not enormous, as that is a pet peeve of mine. I don't need a gigantic sandwich to eat over three days, and for this, the Kibitz Room definitely wins points. All in all, the meal was just good enough. For the price paid, I would've liked better, but I cannot update my thoughts until I really go sit down there. They are definitely worth giving another try, as almost any kosher deli is, and from what I hear from others, this is a great spot. There also seems to be one that opened in King of Prussia, which must have been recent, because when I went to write this review, that location popped up, and I had never seen it before; so maybe I will try there! Took the kids for Jewish deli for the first time and Kibitz Room was worth the drive. Everything fresh , quick , and delicious. Get your drinks and pickles after you take a seat is pretty awesome. That cheese kugel though stole the show and didn't expect that. Knish hot dog was outstanding with some of their spicy mustard. I love Russian dressing and slaw on my corned beef so that was nice on the side to load up on. Our server held it down for the entire restaurant and she didn't miss a beat. Customer service 10/10 even when the place was rocking at the counter and in the dining room. No frills the way it should be. Just damn good food. read more

Stopped in for dessert as I was too full to get a sandwich with the pickle bar. My hamantashen was delicious and very fresh. I did take out bagels, two flavored cream cheese spreads and two potato pancakes with applesauce. The staff ( server and counter) were very friendly and helpful. MDW, and I took our two cousins that flew in from Florida to fress @ the K B. Mixed reviews on their visit, the cup (which is really a bowl) of cabbage soup that I had was a home run. Cousin # 1's hot pastrami was a little dry, and to lean for her taste, Cousin #2's bagel, lox and cream cheese (on a plain bagel that all they had at lunch time) was good. My hot tongue sandwich was good, juicy, and very enjoyable. My dear wife however was disappointed with her hot brisket platter it was dry even with gravy, with no seasoning. I won't speak on the service because I didn't sit to eat. But upon entering a restaurant where the register is directly at the door I would like to be greeted over stared at. Not too busy inside but a consistent flow from what I could see. Service was rather quick. $32. For sandwich fries pickle and we ordered a piece of cake which if I knew was $8 I would've reconsidered. Cake was choc chip. Soft but was like a 3 on the taste scale. Fries was a good fry. I came here for lunch with a few friends today. Service was extremely fast which we really appreciated. The pickle bar was awesome and something nice to snack on while we waited for our food. On Saturday January 24, 2026 at about noon, I went to the Kibbutz room in King of Prussia with my mom for lunch. This was my third visit to this location. As with the last two times we were there, they were severely short staffed, as they don't have enough waiters employed (all of whom appear to rather not be there). After sitting for 10 minutes and seeing only one waiter Cody/Colby (unsure of his name), go take the order of people who came in after us. We kindly got his attention when he replied "patience is a virtue" we then said we were getting up to leave and he said "OK bye". I did report this to the cashier behind the counter (black woman) and the man at the deli (white man), who were both stunned. We then left. I understand that he is probably overwhelmed being the only wait staff on at lunchtime, but it seems the service industry might not be best suited for him. My family will not be back to support this restaurant! Food is good but a tad pricey, but still worth it had it not been for the very poor service. Hopefully this issue gets addressed with this gentleman, and they fix the issue with the lack of wait staff. Even if your food is good and the atmosphere is good, people aren't going to want to come back if the service is continually so poor and slow! read more

Order today. Eat for a few days! I have yet to have a meal inside here, but I've ordered takeout several times. It's hard to say what I've enjoyed the most. I've had a turkey meal, pastrami, corned beef, a hot dog, soups, scrapple (yes, scrapple), and slices of cake that is big enough to feed six people easily. All of the meals are made on-site and have been so enjoyable that I look forward to this as a change from the norm when eating out. Let me start by saying that this is the first bad review I have ever given. If I am disappointed I just move on. I ordered delivery and was really looking forward to it. The white fish was awful and inedible which is just as well since there wasn't much of it. The latke was greasy and bland. The matzo ball soup was ok. I order my food around 7pm and had my mom pick it up for me. When my mom got there, one of the employees said they were closing early but the online store hours said they close at 8pm. They also cancel my order and did not call me to tell me which is very ignorant. The next day I call the manager to vent and let him know how terrible their customer service was and he hung up on me. OK, I had a weird experience here and I hope this hasn't happened to other people. Ordered over the phone. Went to pick it up. Got inside, and stood by the cash register that said Pay Here. A lady was helping this 3-person group get cake, and then pay, so I stepped back. They left, and she slightly walked away. But came back when this old couple wanted to pay. Again, I'm in front of the register and an old guy literally bumping elbows with me, pushing me out of the way. Side note, the lady NEVER made eye contact with me. The old couple pays and yep the lady just walked away again. A server was in the food case doing something and I chimed in "Hi, sorry to bother you but I'm just trying to pick up my order..." Oh sure! She was nice and lovely. I have no idea what the heck was going on with the other lady. Anyway. The Reuben fries were delicious. One of the worst delis I've ever visited. We arrived around 10:00 a.m., and the experience went downhill from the start. You have to serve yourself coffee, which wouldn't be a problem--except the coffee was cold. They brew large thermoses at a time, and with few customers, it just sits there. They promote a "pickle bar," but when we checked it, there were no pickles. Just three sad items: cherry peppers, sauerkraut, and pickled tomatoes. We ordered the soup flight (your choice of three soups), but it never came. After waiting a while, we just canceled it. Then we ordered the lox platter with one egg everything bagel and one poppyseed bagel. They were out of the egg everything. Instead of coming over to ask what we'd like instead, we overheard the owner telling the staff to just substitute an egg bagel. No one asked us. When the food came, they only brought one bagel. When we mentioned the poppyseed bagel was missing, the waitress pointed and said it was right there--she "didn't have enough hands" to bring it. Then she walked off without bringing it, so we had to go grab it ourselves. The lox platter came with a side, and we had ordered fries. Never got those either. The place was filthy. The pickle bar area was disgusting, with trash and spills all over--there's a garbage can right next to it, and it looks like it never gets cleaned. We also ordered lemonade, which came out tasting like water. As we were leaving, we told the manager. He admitted they were out of lemonade. If you know you're out of something, why not put up a sign? They were out of basic items--pickles, bagels, lemonade--at 10:00 a.m. Nothing about this place lived up to what it claimed to be. Placed an order for delivery for a hot dog with sauerkraut and a big dog with beans Got order and there was no kraut or beans. I called and asked if I could have them redone and the correct way. First they said they have a new kitchen staff and then told me they wouldn't redo the order. They told me call the delivery company and hung up on me. My sister and I came here for lunch in a weekend day. We sat at a table and got excellent service. I loved the pickle bar and wished I ate more of the sweet pickles! I ordered a Swiss cheese sandwich on rye. Bread was a little dry. My sister got the corned beef and pastrami and loved it. She helped herself to a fountain drink and I got a water out of the refrigerated case. Both sandwiches were HUGE and will be 2-3 meals. When we left I got an eclair and a piece of cake to go. When the new owners took over they should have followed the old recipes the corn beef had very little taste and the pastrami was so smoked that's all you could taste. So i was heading to cherry hill and am always up for a good jewish deli. So far PAs offerings have been lacking. Pulled into the strip mall to see it tucked in near the corner. Stepped into a small tightly packed space. Bakery& Deli cases & counter on the left, tables on the right and a pickle'd bar in the back. Menu has all the usual suspects and more. I had the ruben which was stacked high with corned beef. It was pretty lean for not asking for lean. A Dr Brown was mandatory and the had them all. My friend got the brisket sandwich and it didn't disappoint either. Sitting and eyeballing the cases as we ate let us plan what to take home. Matzo ball soup, stuffed cabbage, rye bread and chocolate chip cookies. These were all delicious and are someone's bubbies recipe's. No amidst all this love i need to send a warning too. Been getting takeout here for years. Recently there are changes, not for the better. Inattentive deli clerks, portions whike still generius have gotten smaller. The "rye" bread had no chew like it should, and the historical cake sluces that could choke a horse have been dine away with as well as many of the bakery items that used to be available. Went today for a quick lunch. Walked in and wow were we surprised. The deli cases were pretty empty. All the fresh fish and salads they had were all gone and replaced with mustard bottles. The deserts were pretty much none existent, literally only a few items. Pickle bar was half full. It looked like the place was on life support. Sandwich wasn't anywhere near filled like what it used to be. It was pretty dirty in there. We asked what happened and the waitress said new management. If this is new management they'll be out of business in no time. After 20 years of going there... we won't be back. Good luck, hope they turn it around but judging what we saw, I doubt it. It's a shame because it was a cherry hill staple. I give it 2 starts because the waitress was great but unfortunately she can't make it all better.
