Established…read morein 1886, they've built a reputation for carrying hard-to-find sizes and as someone with small feet, that truly matters. Most stores don't carry a size 5 in Hoka, which is my preferred brand to run in, but Stout's had exactly what I needed. I didn't even go in expecting to leave with shoes, but with Robert's expertise and friendly persuasion, I walked out with the perfect pair. The Bondi 9 might be the most comfortable shoe I've ever put on my feet -- an absolute game changer. I can be particular about color and sometimes hard to please when I have something specific in mind, but Robert went above and beyond to help me find the right fit. He was knowledgeable and genuinely eager to help. I left feeling confident in my purchase and so happy with the experience. Stout's is officially my go-to place to shop for high-end running shoes!

When I find the perfect pair, I want them to last as long as possible. Unfortunately, averaging almost 20,000 steps per day, the soles of my shoes quickly disintegrate. Thanks be to God that I found Cento's Shoes. I like mom-and-pop shops; they have dedicated owners whose top goal is customer satisfaction. Cento's Shoes is the paradigm of a generational business, and its atmosphere arouses memories of yore: times when quality and craftsmanship mattered. I love my Samuel Hubbard shoes, and I was nervous for anyone, other than the manufacturer, to service them. My initial instincts were wrong. During my first visit, the owner and I discussed the perfect sole, based on comfort and durability. The following day, he texted me a picture of an available sole, which I accepted. In less than a week's time, the job was complete. The shoes were immaculate, shined to perfection, and all their various nicks and notches were repaired. The new soles provided a more comfortable wear than the originals. Cento's Shoes also sells a variety of shoes, care products, and an eclectic selection of hats. It's the kind of shop your grandfather visited on his way to Lovers' Lane. Cento's Shoe's is a must for anyone who owns fine footwear, and they have my highest recommendation.

One of the pairs, my Footjoy Classics Spikeless, stopped being produced in 2009 so I wasn't sure how difficult of a project this might be for Mike. Turns out they look better than they did when they were new! More support, better constructed, and they look brand new. Mike took a pair of shoes that were literally falling apart and brought them back to life, even better than before. These Footjoys look better than anything Footjoy sells these days! Mike did such a great job that I dropped off another pair when I picked up my last 2 pair. And I have about 3 more pairs of shoes that are in need of being recrafted, Cento Shoes will be wear I am taking them. The price is right at Cento Shoes and they carry all the good and necessary shoe care products to keep your shoes in great shape and well nourished. Jennifer who works in the front of the house is just amazing and super kind. She got me taken care of in no time and while I was there picking up my shoes I got some new socks and shoe care accessories too. Cento Shoes has been around longer than I have been alive and Mike Cento has the same passion for shoes that I do. Footwear is really important to me. If it is important to you and want support a locally-owned family business of 50+ years that brings footwear back to life, go see Mike and Jennifer at Cento Shoes, you will not be disappointed. Mike is like the Obi-Wan Kenobi of shoe recrafting. He has a new customer and a friend for life. Thank you!!!

And on a side note, I got a hand-written thank you note from Jessica after my purchase. People like her restore my faith that humanity has not lost all etiquette.
