Beautiful, authentic atmosphere! Soft Chinese music playing; clean, classy dining area with great attention to detail, such as the delicate little China bowls. Food was delicious -- far beyond the usual expectations. Decent prices. A little off the beaten path but worth the drive read more

Very rude, the prices don't match the website. When I told her she said they don't have a website. They do. The shrimp toast was burnt and the broccoli in garlic sauce was sweet and tangy. It was not good. My kids said theirs was ok. read more

This place is a hidden gem. Honestly, I'm not sure I've ever had orange chicken this good. I loved the service because they don't hound you 24/7 asking you questions about "how is everything" .. they know their food is good. The dining room is chill. If you're a picky eater don't come here. If you want to be adventurous and try something new and different, and taste delicious food, come here and try it out. I'd recommend the pork dumplings, a small soup, and an entree but get something you've heard of. Next time try something you haven't heard of, if you're new to spice and strong flavors go with the basics. I can't wait to come back and try more! read more

Had the best food that I have had in years! I was in town for work and found this place. Very clean the staff was personable and attentive. The owner stopped by the table and asked if I was new to the area as he did not recognize me as a regular. If I lived here, this would be my go to place. As another guest was leaving i heard the waitress tell him she would see him next week! I cannot recommend this place enough! read more

Though I wish they would open up their dining room post Covid, food is just as good via take out. They take a lot of orders, but get the food out quickly and the woman running the cash register is a great example of a multitasker because she gets my food and takes my payment quickly while also on the phone with two other customers. read more

Chens has become greedy with their pricing and randomly charging different delivery fees depending on who is working the phones. After ordering over 11 years, they show no loyalty and when confronting the lady on phone about charging delivery when, when menu does not state a delivery fee, she canceled my order because I complained. They don't deserve my business. read more

It had been awhile that we had ordered from Chen's....but I was craving Chinese tonight, and the last we had done was Asian American in Hopewell...and...Chens delivered to Hopewell....they were timely, our order was correct, and quite satisfying...UNTIL I got to the bottom of my sweet & sour pork....I don't think I'll ever be able to enjoy Chinese cuisine again...and I'm not totally certain that I'll be able to order out for awhile...Don't know if I'm more angry or horrified awaiting whether I'll be hurling up my stomach lining later tonight...it's almost as if I'm awaiting sentencing...to surmise though...Chen's In Chester/Enon...gonna be two thumbs down from me... read more

Greasy old food and unsanitary conditions. The food is not like it used to be pre COVID.

Ordered delivery this evening. The food here is usually good but tonight the food was very bland and very oily. I ordered the lomein and hunan beef. The noodles were overcooked, the hunan beef was very bland and not spicy as it should be. You could see a 1/2 inch of oil sitting on top of the dish and the paper bag it arrive in was drenched in oil. read more

Chen's is, by far, the best Chinese food in the Richmond area. Their beef and broccoli is the best I ever had and the rangoons, dumplings and hot & sour soup are also excellent. read more

Well, things have changed since my last review, which makes me sad. The customer service has dropped, and the prices have gone up. I now have to pay extra for sauces, which is OK, I guess- but, when they charge $.50 per sauce, and forget to add them to my bag, that's where the problem lies. The sauces used to be free, and if they were forgotten, no biggie. Also, when you call in to order, they're not as friendly as they used to be before the pandemic. Not sure what has happened, but we have started looking around for new Chinese restaurants to try out. The reason for the 3 stars, is that their food is still good. read more

This place used to be mediocre. Definitely not great, but tolerable. Edible. No longer. We were craving some Chinese and this place is closest to our house. Knowing this place was only just mediocre Chinese take-out, we played it safe and ordered Chicken & Broccoli & Chicken with Mixed Vegetables. What could go wrong? Whatever we were served it was not chicken. It tasted more like lightly breaded fat or lightly breaded chicken skin? Not sure, but not chicken. In the very off chance that it really was chicken, it was highly processed (likely to make it more tender if it's a poor piece of meat). It was not edible. We will never return again. read more

Haven't been there or ordered take out in a bit, but it was very good last time I did. Love their hot and soup soup!

Food was really good and service was great love this place . One of the best Chinese food restaurant in the Cheste

Great neighborhood Chinese spot right near 295 and Rt. 10. All of the classics, a bit too much sugar like most Americanized Chinese places, but overall a good pick for takeout. Have used them for catering for my office as well and it was well received. Recommended!! read more

I had 2 meals from this restaurant in the last 3 weeks. The first was takeout sesame chicken that was fried so hard I had trouble eating half of the dish. Tonight I ate in and thought I would order something very simple. I ordered an egg roll and chow main - chicken. The egg roll was fried tough and I can't even come close to describe what was inside the egg roll. Then the chow mein arrived looking very bland and tasted even less. All I could think about as I tried to eat less than 1/4 of the plate was the taste of corn starch. By all means I am not an expert on chinese cooking but given a choice I would select chinese food over most other foods. read more

Great experience every time I visit. Great portions for what I order regularly. Staff is always really nice even when busy.

Very friendly customer service. I got the Beef & Broccoli and the Orange Chicken with sides of fried rice and lo mien. Great food for takeout! read more

HORRIBLE SERVICE i couldn't even get through the simple phone call, not to mention the "if you're within 5 miles the delivery is free" advertisement is a complete lie. i had to repeat my address 6 times only to be told goodbye, in which i responded "do you want my business??" and i was ask "what do you want , yes" very rudely. i hung up. i've never eaten here but i can tell you now, i wont be. read more

i stayed in hyatt place which is just a stone's throw from this place. When me and my colleague sat down, we were immediately served with the fried dumpling skins which are a tasty treat to start the day. The first time we went there i ordered a fried rice with shrimp. Fried rice was good and it actually tastes like fried rice, not just rice with soy sauce. I'm from Singapore so i know how fried rice is supposed to taste like. They are also very generous with the number of shrimps in the portion. I also ordered a egg drop soup. Soup was thick and flavourful. My colleague ordered a hot and sour soup which is equally good. however, please take note that the single serving soup is kinda small. The second time we went there we decided to order the house traditional soup, the kung pao chicken and the ma po toufu. The soup has literally more meat and vegetables than the actual soup itself. It has a very rich chicken flavor and really warms me up in this cold weather. The kung pao chicken was not spicy enough, much different than how traditional kung pao chicken would be. The ma po toufu is also not as spicy as it should be. Perhaps the food was modified over the years to suit the tastebuds of the local population. Overall a nice experience. Will recommend to anyone who wants a decent asian meal that actually tastes like asian food in VA. read more

My wife and I loved there Shrimp fried rice. I don't know what happened. It is definitely not the same. It is not taste the way it use to taste. We asked for it to be spicy because that's how we like it. The taste is not the same I don't know what it is. We had to throw it away. We did not want to go back to the restaurant and tell them. We just threw it away. We will not be going back. Now, we are just going to find another Chinese Restaurant. read more

Pleasantly Vegan Friendly Quiet restaurant with comfortable decor, perfect for quiet meals. Staff friendly and cheerful. Tofu proudly listed as an ingredient in a vegetable dish. I tried the hard to find Ma Po Tofu. It was listed as hot and spicy and I told the server I like things spicy. It was not. It was kind of bland. My friend ordered the vegetable fried rice without egg. Very generous portion for the price and actual vegetables in it, but not a lot of flavor. The vegetable dumplings were the best we have ever eaten. Maybe a hint of horseradish to give it some pop of flavor. Cooked well, nice taste and texture. 5 stars+ on them. .Portion size: 5 stars Staff: 5 stars read more

If I could leave 0, I would. My partner and I have tried this location 3 times. 2/3 times we've thrown up after eating here. Pulled off 95 for the night and this restaurant was recommended by the front desk. Decent fresh Chinese food. Prices were a bit high but it was delivered for free and pretty fast on a Friday night. Ordered delivery and the driver actually asked for a tip? Wow! Where do they do that, in Chester! Needless to say that was my last time eating there. Not just because of the drivers extreme assumptions and impatient but the food here has gone down hill. When I was first introduced to Chen's about a year ago the food was Fantastic. Now, mediocre at best. Sorry but there are too many choices for Chinese food in Chester to be rude and barley ok in tatse. read more

Our experience here was not a good one. We went on a Tuesday night so it wasn't very crowded. Only two other tables occupied at the time. We ordered hot tea. It was a cup of water and a tea bag. They refilled the water but didn't give a new tea bag...sorry but tea bags are one use only in my book. The smell of coffee embedded in the plastic mug over shadowed the taste of the tea. I had a mixed meat plate and the beef smelled and tasted "off" so we didn't eat it. And no I didn't send it back~I never send food back to the kitchen and out of sight. The servers were pleasant and attentive. We were greeted as soon as we entered. read more

I have ordered from them many many times over the years. Many times for delivery. But today, for some reason, I was informed they won't deliver to me anymore because it's "too far". They've always delivered to me, no problem. But today all I got was "too far! too far!" Followed by being hung up on. I get that they can change the rules, but being hung up on was rude. Their website and door state they close at 10, but I've arrived there at 9:15 and doors are locked. Too unpredictable with when and where of their business. And being currently home bound, I'm done with them! Hunan Garden here I come! read more

This place has really gone downhill. I ordered something and asked for sauce on the side. They rudely told me "well that's not how you're supposed to order it so don't complain if you don't like it." Then they brought me the wrong soup. Then they brought my mom the wrong order (Sesame chicken instead of Szechuan) even though we repeated it back to her like 5 times, and then no joke, they brought my sister the wrong order . Never coming back. read more

Our work group stopped by for lunch during a training day. The service was great - the atmosphere was fine despite the Kenny G acoustic loop. The food however - edible but not worth another try. The hot and sour soup was thick and very salty (and I love salt). The chicken with broccoli was sweet - who does sweet chinese for a basic savory dish? The chicken tasted like it had been dredged in flour which didn't cook all the way through. The broccoli was fresh. read more

I enjoyed it. Food was very tasteful, no bad odor as stated previously. I went with 3 coworkers and and it was a new experience for one of them. The fried won tons to snack on is a welcome change for those use to tortilla chips at most places. You wont leave hungry unless you just become a picky eater. The employees seems to be FOB (Fresh Off Boat) so you'll get an authentic experience for a chinese joint. Even the mexican guy seemed fresh over the fence. It was empty that night so our glasses never stayed half empty...or half full.. depending on how you look at it lol read more

Chen's serves the best Orange Chicken I have ever had. All other restaurant's serve a mushy over sauced chicken nugget. Not here! The chicken is amazingly covered in a "crunchy" breading with just the right about of Orange sauce. Just AMAZING! I have eaten here twice recently. I was not impressed the first time but decided to give them a second chance. The service is poor and the food is not very good. I don't feel they should offer delivery if they can't provide the service to back it up. I was told 30-35 minutes for my order I placed at 5:45pm. After several calls and 1 hour and a half later I called and cancelled my order. I had a small child I had to make dinner for as he couldn't wait that late and the rest of my family had to find an alternative option which put us eating way late in the evening. As a business if you are busy on a Friday night I totally understand as businesses can get that way, but either shut down delivery for the night if you can't meet the demand or tell people more realistic timeframes. I like the food but this was unfortunately a bad experience that sticks. read more
