As a Kaiser HMO patient I was referred to Dr. Messiha for Pain Management. They often refer outside…read moreof their health system for efficiency and I'm very happy that they did. Dr. Messiha was extremely thorough both with reviewing my medical records and my face to face consultation with him. He did not rush me or rush to conclusions about procedures that may or may not help me. He spent a great deal of time explaining that my symptoms directly correlate with my MRI results and made me feel like I finally understood where my pain and limitations were coming from. Even though the referral from Kaiser included injections; Dr. Messiha left that decision totally up to me given my limitations with an allergy to steroids and the possibility that injections without steroids may not be helpful. He made recommendations to my PM&R physician at Kaiser and helped me make a plan going forward. As an RN I know how difficult navigating our health system is for both patients and providers and I was so pleased with how his office staff handled everything behind the scenes ahead of my appointment. I would highly recommend Dr. Messiha and his practice if you are in need of pain management or even a second opinion. He is beyond professional and I'm so happy I went to see him. I now understand my condition better than before and know that I can make an informed decision based on new knowledge.

Absolutely the worst experience I've ever had with a medical clinic -- avoid this place at all…read morecosts. They falsely billed me $65 for a co-pay I already paid on the day of my appointment -- and they wouldn't even let patients in without paying first, so the charge made zero sense. I spent over a year and a half (18 months!) trying to resolve this issue, sending proof from my bank account, calling and messaging repeatedly, and getting ignored every single time. The front office staff promised multiple times that Mary Ann would follow up, but she never once reached out. I was completely dismissed and stonewalled, while they continued to send threatening payment letters to my home as if I hadn't done everything to prove my case. When they finally responded 18 months later, they blamed a "bad billing company" -- but that doesn't excuse the total lack of accountability, transparency, or even basic communication. I wasted hours trying to fix their mistake -- taking screenshots, writing messages, calling, and being ignored. To make things worse, the treatment didn't even help, so not only was my time wasted on the medical side, I was left fighting a nightmare of a billing system that clearly doesn't care about patients. I would never set foot in this clinic again. The way they treat patients -- both medically and administratively -- is beyond unprofessional. Save yourself the stress, money, and time. Go anywhere else.

DR HELM = GREAT ELIA PEREZ = SUCKS…read more Dr. Helm is solid. He's professional, listens, validates your illness and condition, and does his best to try different healing/coping modalities. He gets 5 stars. Then there is Elia Perez, Nurse Practitioner. She gets 0 stars. For example, Dr. Helm will say "schedule a follow up w/ Elia Perez to have her help you on that". I'll go to an appointment (generally just a 2 minute video chat) she'll have an action item to work on what Dr. Helm asked. I of course get charged for the full-cost of the appointment, even though it was only a 2-minute video chat. A month goes by, I hear nothing, another month? I'll call the office wondering what's going on? Front desk will make me schedule another appointment, another 2-minute video chat w/ Elia Perez, which I get charged big bucks for, and then she'll completely deny that she agreed to do anything. She'll even go so far as to say "we never do that, I never agreed to that"? WTF? So now I'm two months delayed, and I've paid money for two worthless appointments with her. Even when I had a procedure done there, which required and IV, she was so incompetent that she couldn't even do it; they had to bring in a vocational nurse (which is just a 2-year degree) who was WAY more proficient at freaking everything than Elia Perez with her masters degree of Nurse Practitioner. I've heard that Dr. Helm is finally closing his office, after many decades of work - good for him, he deserves a break. Bummer for me though, cause he was really good. I've heard that Elia Perez is going to work at the office of Dr. Medhat F. Mikhael, MD - Pain Medicine. Based on past experience w/ Elia Perez, I will definitely NOT be transferring over to Dr. Mikhael's office. Note: I recognize that my experience w/ Elia may be a one off, an you may have had a great experience, but the above is my honest experience. I'll be giving one star for this review, now that I know Dr. Helm's office is closing, so the 1-star review won't affect him. If Elia want's to contact Yelp and dispute this, I welcome that. We'll get all my records from Dr Helm's office and recordings of the video chats to prove to Yelp this is the truth.

Ripoff city. I made…read morean appt and included my info and where to get med records from inc. fax. They followed up with a call, and mentioned they would be able to get a fax while I filled out the paperwork. So far so good - then the appt comes. I saw Dr.Chen and at the end of it all, he was basically calling me a liar. I stated what they told me about the med info - there must have been miscommunication - No, Doc that is what they told me. He then went on to tell me, even if he had my other pain mgt. doctor's files, he still couldn't do anything until he got my med records from UCLA. Even though he knew one of the doctors I mentioned, he then said he couldn't do anything for me, until he verified what was in the files and my conditions. Cause you know, everyone makes up they have an autoimmune disease called RA and everyone refers to specific doctors whom, Dr. chen knows. Either I am psychic and could guess he would know one of those doctors or i don't know, maybe telling the truth? He also wanted to know why I didn't go to UCLA PM or my last PM appt, at a location 2 hrs away (recently moved). I found this odd too. My favorite was when he did a basic see how you are doing movement thing and as he tried to lift up my hip - I screamed in pain. He said that my examination was normal, and that I must be having a good day (my guess in ref. to me saying I have RA). Since he isn't a rheumatologist, but a pain mgt. doctor, I guess that qualifies him to make the statement - apparently he slept in a Holiday Inn. Oh, Anthem Blue Cross PPO is accepted, but out of network, so they charge $450. I saw this place had bad reviews on numerous sites, but figured you know what it is close by. End result - staying with my PM dr 2 hrs away.

I was terrified since I had never undergone surgery before, but I couldn't have asked for a better doctor. My healing process has been excellent, and my scars are barely noticeable. Dr. Winter is truly one of a kind. You are in excellent hands with him. The wait for a consultation and surgery is definitely worth it. The surgery took longer than expected, and Dr. Winter informed my husband that he had found and removed numerous fibroid-like cells from my uterine lining. At the time, we were relieved, but months passed without any sign of a menstrual cycle. I returned to Dr. Potter at HRC Fertility, where he had to perform a procedure to see what had happened. When I woke up, I was devastated to learn that my entire uterine lining had been scarred. They gave me less than a 5% chance of getting pregnant. Dr. Winter scared up my entire lining which caused me not to be able to get pregnant. I am still in the IVF/surrogacy process with hundreds of thousands of dollars due to his procedure. Don't listen to anyone who says you need to remove fibroids.

Shortly after hanging up the phone, I got a text from the young girl who scheduled my appointment. She asked me to send her a copy of my driver's license by replying to the text, which I promptly did. On the day of my appointment, I arrived at the office 15 minutes early to fill out any additional paperwork. The girl answering the phones was busy making an appt for a new patient which, as I already knew, is very time-consuming. There were two other staff members present, but apparently none of them were trained to hand me my new patient check-in forms because they told me I'd have to wait. So finally, around 15 minutes later, the young girl was done with her phone call and able to check me in. The only problem is that I was not on their schedule. Not only that, but they didn't seem to have any record of me at all. Had I gone to the wrong office?? I scrolled through my texts to find the one requesting my license, in which the girl had stated her name. I said "isn't this you?" Yes, it was her and I was at the right place. Why am I not on the schedule at the time we discussed?? According to the young girl, she never received the picture of my license (which, from my end, had been sent), so she cancelled the appointment. No follow-up call requesting my license again. I don't even think I got a call letting me know they were cancelling the appt, although they had already set the precedent of communicating by text, so it would've been appropriate to send a follow-up text. When I pressed her to find out why there was no follow through, she said that she only works there part-time, so there was no way for her to follow up with me the next day, as it was her day off. Now, I don't solely blame her. She was obviously rather young and inexperienced and was just doing her best. But what a terrible lack of management that there are no procedures in place to handle this kind of thing! And what kind of establishment just cancels an appt after I obviously wanted to see the doctor, based on my initial investment of time in scheduling the appt?? I had already waited a couple of weeks for my appt, and I was in a tremendous amount of pain due to a pinched nerve in my neck. On top of that, they had wasted another 20 minutes of my time since I had arrived at the office for my appointment. The best they could do was to apologize and offer me an appointment in another week or so. No thanks. At this point, I think the appropriate thing for the doctor to do would be to see me that day. I understand maybe he was completely booked. Then he should stay late. I would've come back at the end of the day. I had already arranged to have the afternoon off from work so that I could be seen by him, and I find it inexcusable that the office is run in such a way that the staff just cancels appts because of one small piece of information missing. They demonstrated a total lack of consideration for my time and circumstances.

LENA FRONT DESK, EXTREMELY RUDE…read more I have called multiple times trying to schedule my OBGYN appointment, and unfortunately my experience with Lena at the front desk has been extremely disappointing. She has been consistently rude and unpleasant to speak with, which is especially frustrating during pregnancy when patients are already feeling vulnerable and just trying to get proper care. I've also been given different information from different front desk staff, which has made the process even more confusing. Every time I call, I feel like I'm getting a different answer. I did have a great experience with another front desk staff member whose name I unfortunately didn't catch. She was kind, helpful, and professional, which shows that positive communication is absolutely possible in this office. I hope this feedback is taken seriously. Patients deserve consistency, professionalism, and basic courtesy when calling their OB office.
