I've been going to Dr Goodfellow as my primary care physician for over ~30 years now, and she is everything a great doctor should be. She is highly knowledgeable, professional, has great bedside manner and provides excellent care every time I have come in. She always takes the time to explain things as appropriate, and answer all my medical questions. She is compassionate, and easy to talk to, never ever rushed. When I need something, like a document for travel or a medical record, her staff is prompt and efficient, and always takes care of it quickly. The whole office is well run, and feels like they really look out for the patient. Her PA Nancy is also amazing, and maintains the high level of quality care in this practice, while being so personable. I am very grateful to have her and her staff as my provider and will keep coming back here for my medical care. She is fantastic. read more

Dr. Goodfellow has been by physician for over 20 years and has been a lifesaver for me all of these years. I came here to write a review for Dr Goodfellow as I am especially grateful for the extra care I have gotten from her, her PA Marie and all of her front office staff for the last four months. I am appalled by the reviews people have written about Dr. Goodfellow and her credentials, bedside manner and staff. Following a serious emergency hospital stay and follow up, i required extensive communication and coordination with Dr Goodfellow and her office regarding surgery, CT Scans, MRI, second opinions, diabetes and a number of other issues I have going on. The practice is always there for me and always advises properly. During COVID I was seen only if I did not have COVID sympoms and always with a mask. once during COVID I came back from Ireland with a very severe virus. I got an appointment that same day with the PA outside. It was in a clean, clear grassy area at a picnic table and we both wore masks. I had excellent care and felt heard and safe in the medication she prescribed. It was not a dark alley as other reviewers made it sound. That was not uncommon during COVID. If I could give zero stars I would. This physician was utterly incompassionate, unprofessional, and unhelpful when it came to my mother's serious medical condition. She did not suggest or prescribe care for us as her caretakers that would better assist her quality of life. But what goes around comes around and I know she too will encounter this kind of treatment for herself or someone she loves and she will live out her karma for her lack of sensitive bedside manner and compassionate care. Where do I begin? I would not recommend this dr. First she dropped my wife as a patient as we don't live in the immediate area and even though we have all our families doctors in her area and have no issue driving there the Dr didn't want my wife to be patient and she thought we live too far. We are only a 30 min drive to her. I stayed with this Dr and am fortunate enough to not get sick often. Today I needed to go and see her as I was feeling slightly under the weather and wanted her to look at a few of my symptoms. She, as a doctors office, had her front desk team ( who are not the friendliest) tell me that she would only do a parking lot visit?! A what?! She wanted to do my visit in the parking lot where today it hit 110 degrees. How embarrassing to have to share my ailments in front of people as they walk by and in this heat. She said that since Covid, 4 years ago, anyone who is sick or has sick like symptoms will only be seen in the parking lot. If you're good with that she's your Dr. I refused to be seen in a parking lot. So she said she may not be the best fit for my medical needs. I ended up going to urgent care down the street and they saw me in the office like a normal Dr would. My wife's Dr sees her in the office like a normal Dr would. Not in the parking lot. Ridiculous! So today I changed primary care to my wife's Dr who not only sees sick people, but also does the blood work right there in her office as this Dr doesn't do that. I've never had a Dr say that she wouldn't see a sick person in her office. Baffles me. Avoid her and this office at all costs. There are so many more dr's out there doing normal Dr visits. read more

She is knowledgeable and works with you and spends quality time needed to answer all your questions. I couldn't imagine going to anyone else. Worst "Doctor" in OC. -AVOID- Janet Goodfellow runs her business with a sense of moral turpitude. The front office is actually quite friendly; however, there are often layers of superfluous processes and outdated technology that lead to a clunky onboarding process. Regarding the "doctor" specifically, she lacks the skill set and moral compass that is required to provide quality care. Plus, you might not even be able to see the "doctor" when you're sick, which essentially defeats the purpose of visiting a doctor (beyond preventive care). In OC, there are lots of high quality physicians; hence, there's no reason to visit "Dr" Goodfellow. read more

Dr. Goodfellow at Irvine Family Care has been my family's doctor for nearly 20 years. That pretty much says it all, but I'll go on.  She's caring and knowledgable, offering practical treatment plans and suggestions. Bonus--she's friendly too.  Fun fact, back when I needed to find a doctor I didn't know anyone in Irvine to ask for a referral.  Another hiccup, online reviews weren't a thing yet making research a library trip.  So, how did I find her?  Simple, I liked her last name so I took a gamble and rolled the dice.  Lucky for us, Dr. Goodfellow turned out to be a "good"...wait, make that a "great"...doctor. I am taken aback by some of the reviews of this practice. While navigating the office procedures can sometimes be a little difficult, my assumption is that is because it is a busy practice with a high demand physician, and a high demand physician is a good thing and well worth tolerating a few missteps here and there. Actually, in my own case I have found the staff very attentive. It is not a surprise for me to get an unsolicited call checking to make certain I have done this or that, or that I should be taking a certain action I had not even considered. Angela, Doctor Goodfellow's nurse has been the most recent example of this behavior. When we last spoke by phone, she informed me of a matter I had forgotten about. She was already in the process of getting the problem resolved in a way very convenient for me. Whatever the challenges, surely they pail in significance once one is actually face to face with this highly competent and comprehensive physician -- who surely must have written the book on how to execute the proverbial bedside manner. One often reads a reviewer saying the doctor is very knowledgeable. This is amusing to me. Unless the patient is a physician herself, how would she know? The answer is simple; because Doctor Goodfellow has done or said something that has actually helped the patient, ended or decreased his/her suffering, maybe even saved the patient's life. I would suggest a few office missteps are worth tolerating; thus the patient can benefit from such noble medical capabilities as provided by Doctor Goodfellow. Of course, it would be nice to get a balloon at the end of the visit, or a lollipop. read more

I have been Janet Goodfellow's patient for MANY years now, and have slowly seen patient treatment change over the years, but because of my history with her, accepted it. Then recently, I was changed a "no show" fee, even though I called and gave a very personal reason why I was uncomfortable at the time to go in for the physical. They still charged me, after I called and spoke to them, and even went to extreme of insisting to ensure payment. This is not how you make money, and I do not appreciate the treatment as their patient. Doctors are supposed to understand and sympathize with your feelings, and comfort level, and not make you feel like you are just another person coming through the door. I have removed myself as her patient, and will find another doctor that puts their patient first! read more

I can't comment on the Dr. specifically since I never even got in to see her. Tried calling late morning but they close mid-day. Called back and never got a person. Called back again and someone picked up, there was a bunch of laughter and talking RIGHT by the phone speaker (while I'm in a dead silent house) and the woman answering says "I can't hear you. Call back." And immediately just hangs up on me. So, I've tried three times today to get through for a new patient appointment and was hung up on without so much as a "sorry" or "please hold" or a normal office courtesy. Reading Yelp reviews (after only seeing the positive Google reviews when selecting this doctor), it now sounds like this issue isn't uncommon. As someone trying to book my first appointment, I am not signing up for this on an ongoing basis and I'll be looking elsewhere instead. read more

Great doctor and knowledgeable but her office staffs can use some personality. I've been a patient for like 7 yrs and getting an apt is very hard . I agree with Scott D. that unless you are dying, you won't get apt for 3 to 4 month. When I need immediate apt, they just usually refer me to the urgent care downstairs so I don't get to see my PCP anyways. The last 2 times I've been there I've waited over 60 min ( one of the apt was 1st apt in the AM). I've always thought great doctor is worth the office wait but every time? My time is valuable too! I have been going to Dr. Goodfellow for 5 years and am very grateful for her. She is very warm and outgoing. She listens through all of your concerns and questions. She goes over each test result and explains the purpose and what she's looking for. I find this very empowering. I do feel like her nurse practitioner is slightly judgmental, but over the years I've come to like her as well. You do need to schedule appointments well in advance, but I would say to take that as a sign. She's popular because everyone likes her. read more

Steer clear of this office !!!!! Worst Dr. And customer service in the OC . The rude office manager called me today to release me as a patient just because I had some complaints about the way Dr. GOODFELLOW was handling my case . Number one im in the medical field and work for a very prominent practice in Newport Beach. I will make sure none of my patients ever go to this three ring circus . There is no follow up with patients and the staff is rude . It is so medically negligent to let a patient go , especially when they are having serious medical issues. What Dr. Does that !!!!! I guess Dr. GOODFELLOW' ego means more than her patients. So even if the care is sub par you better not complain, they will cut you off as a patient regardless of your health issues. I will be reporting this office to the medical board in the morning. For being medically negligent. Save yourself and go to a doc that cares about her patients and not her ego . A word of advice !!!! I've been a patient of Dr. Goodfellow for over a decade now. She is very knowledgeable and a good listener. I am a very proactive patient and keep good records and always have lots of questions. She seems to appreciate that and works with me as a patient. She is not one to over prescribe and she is very straightforward, which I appreciate, yet she is warm and caring. I feel she knows me and understands my concerns. Her office is very busy, but if I call at the last minute due to illness, I can usually get squeezed in. Her nurse, Mem, is a sweetheart also. At times I've had to wait a day to get a return call about a refill, but overall, they are responsive. My only complaint would be that once you get into the exam room, you might have to wait a while, but that is because she takes time with her patients and doesn't rush. read more

I have been a patient for over 7 years and am shopping for another primary care physician. Dr. Goodfellow is GREAT but her staff is incredibly rude. I think I could deal with that, but the real problem is that it will take you 3 or 4 months to get in to see her and then when you do, you will wait a minimum of 60 minutes. I even schedule the first appointment of the day or the first appointment after lunch and still have had this happen. On the last appointment, I showed up at 1:15 for my 1:30 appointment, only to see her walking out of the office and telling the staff, "I'll see you in an hour." I got really mad and said, "I thought I had the first appointment after lunch." They said, "You do. She will be back in an hour." She is very good, but she is WAY over-scheduled. You will be frustrated beyond belief if she is your primary. I would avoid. You could do better. read more

AWFUL, RUDE, NOT CARING - will not return calls or take the time to hear her patients..her exact response to my request for 1 min call to discuss the issues I am having with her office staff especially Cindy... Dr. Goodfellow-. " the phone is unlikely to be productive (that is a direct pasted quote from her email to me... Yikes.. Her office takes a week to return calls .. i needed a refill to medication for migraines not call, I emailed no return then i was told to call.. um I did? they blamed me and my insurance company .. I was told they called me back.. my phone records show no incomming call and only my outgoing eveyr day for a week. So ontop of rude office staff they lied that they called me.. no integrity or honesty or respect.. If you want caring - go elsewhere If you want returned calls - go elsewhere if you want respect from office - Go elsewhere If you read all the reviews they all trash her office staff.. EVERYONE on yelp can't be wrong.. Take the extra 5 min. to find a caring, warm, respectful Doctor. This office has horrible customer service. The staff nor manager are very helpful. From what I see and hear Dr. Goodfellow is an amazing doctor but when you have staff that doesn't represent her well, I would rather not waste my time. I would recommend that she look at her staff. I have been a patient of Dr. Goodfellow's for probably 10 years. She is an excellent doctor. It is easy to communicate with her and share my health issues and concerns. I always feel like she takes her time with me to determine exactly what is wrong when I do see her. I do not think she ever diagnosed and prescribed me with anything (when necessary) that did not take care of the problem that I was having. I see her ever year for my physical too. I've never had an issue getting in to see her or a P.A. in her office if she was unavailable. Her office has always been excellent in that manner. Only once could they not get me in and they approved me going to the urgent care downstairs and they relayed the information back to Dr. Goodfellow. I could not be happier with Dr. Goodfellow as my family doctor. read more

My wife use to be a patient of Dr. Goodfellow. She was an excellent doctor whenever my wife would see her but that was rare. I would accompany my wife each time she visited Dr. Goodfellow's office. My wife was given to an intern probably 90% of the time and rarely seen by Dr. Goodfellow. Her nurse practitioner is horrible!! Makes you feel uncomfortable. My wife became tired of not being able to see Dr. Goodfellow and having this office have records that weren't up to date. The last straw was when my wife's prescriptions were not refilled. My wife has now switched to a doctor that will give her an appointment the same day she calls. read more

I absolutely love Doctor Goodfellow she is kind, caring, knowledgeable and knows how to make me feel comfortable. She takes her time to explain every procedure and answer every question no matter how trivial they may be and all with a good sense of humor and a cheerful demeanor, she has a knack for making me feel like every medical issue that I presented to her could a would be solved . I was having a problem with my blood pressure, Dr Goodfellow monitored the situation prescribed the the correct meds and my problem is now totally under control. I couldn't be happier with the care that I receive and with the offices staff everyone is courteous and helpful. I recently moved out of California and I knew that one of the things that I would miss was Dr Goodfellow she is a great doctor and a wonderful person. I recommend her to anyone who is seeking outstanding medical care.
