We hired AmeriCool to install the HVAC system in our new build in 2022-23. When placing the heat…read morepump, they opted for convenience instead of paying attention to the design of the home. Whereas the plans called for a unit which exhausted upward, they opted to install a unit which exhausted out the side -- and pointed that right at our front door/porch and directly across several thousand dollars worth of landscaping that had already been installed (unit placement was one of the last install items). Flash forward to winter. Though the weather was typical PNW -- rainy but above freezing -- the heat pump's frigid exhaust created an ever-thickening layer of ice on the concrete porch and steps just outside the front door and along the paver walkway leading to the driveway. Also, the exhaust desiccated several of our plants. We contacted the manufacturer who stated we could build a 4' high cedar slat fence 2' in front of the unit to redirect the exhaust, but this ultimately failed because the unit was tucked into a corner nook between the garage and home. The redirected exhaust built up an ice sheet under the unit and 10' up the adjacent gutter until the ice pushed the unit over on its side. Americool's response: "It happens and you're not under warranty." We worked with another company on a solution which we ultimately performed ourselves -- a wind baffle coupled with gapping the fence slats, a tray under the unit with underground piping to our storm drain, installation of an outlet and placing a plug-in deicing rod in the tray to keep the condensate drainage liquid so it can drain away. On a new build! They could have located the unit anywhere! Or better yet just installed the upward-exhausting unit called for in the plans. Just avoid these fools.

So, a few weeks ago a local handyman I know contacted GT for me and their estimator was out a week later. We negotiated a great deal, signed a contract that day and scheduled the work to be done whenever the wind and rain finally took a break. That day was today! The GT crew showed up at 8 AM and worked as a coordinated team of roofing ninjas. They tore off the old comp, replaced rotted plywood over the eves, laid down new laminated "paper", hand nailed the new much more attractive modern style composition roofing shingles, the old roof ridge vent, the boots around the plumbing vents, added flashing, and, naturally, they cleaned up every speck of debris from the tear-off. The last truck rolled away just before 1 PM, so in less than 5 hours they did an impressive job from start to finish. My husband and I couldn't be happier about the incredibly professional work GT Roofing did for us!

The 50' X 60' barn got the entire metal roof replaced because of excessive leaks and got new insulation as well. The crews were fast, efficient and cleaned up the whole area very well. I really wanted someone local (near Oly/Lacey/Tumwater) and found Equity Roofing's great reviews. Jose showed up right on time (this rarely happens so I was immediately impressed), helped assess everything and was very honest. Despite how ugly the siding was, it was just cosmetic and didn't require any repairs (yay). The biggest roofing project could be deferred, but a smaller structure needed a new roof yesterday (it was decades old and I rebuilt everything but the roof 5 yrs ago so was a valuable investment). He gave me quotes on all the structures and came in at the lower range of average roofing costs. He was able to be out within a couple of weeks to do the small roof and they were timely, efficient, very clean and did a beautiful job. Jose also scouted around the structure after the job to make sure it was properly picked up after. Throughout the process he was very responsive in emails and there were never surprises. I have recommended him to neighbors and am saving to do the main roof in a year or two. He is a very honest, reliable business and family man with high integrity. Stay local and you will be so glad you did. I'd give him 10 stars if I could.

When I find a reliable company that does a good job I am excited to share this resource with my community because we are all looking for the same thing, right? A small local company that is both reliable, experienced and offers quality work at a fair price. We purchased our home here in Chehalis in October 2019 and we love it here! But as you and I both know, with home ownership comes home maintenance. We knew from our home inspection that we needed to repair or replace the leaking sectional gutter system around our house. We also noticed a couple of areas that needed repair to the existing gutters around our garage, wood shed and barn. Craig, the owner of Gutter Works is a hard working professional and takes his work and his business seriously. He is a gutter expert and custom fabricated our gutters on sight in seamless (long) sections to eliminate those leaky-dripping joints of our old gutters. I am so relieved we found an excellent and trustworthy contractor that does the job right the first time and for an unbelievable price! Well, I realize our price reflects the fact that we have a 1970's ranch style home the shape of rectangle... The unknown is always intimidating but not all home maintenance needs to be a hassle or break the bank. Like us, you won't regret your decision to call Craig!
