I have since visited two or three times, and it has followed through on its reputation! Sue Becker is extremely well known in the flour milling scene, and even though it's a 45 minute drive for me, I feel lucky getting to be "so close" to her store. They have everything you need to start milling and then some. Many different grains are available, including oils and vinegars, salts and sucanat (a sugar alternative that's basically dehydrated honey). Cookbooks, cooking tools, a few snacky treats, loose leaf teas, and coffees and more are all available. Housed in a warehouse building, the interior isn't anything glamorous, and half of the building is separated from the store by a large curtain, portioning off a classroom area. The A+ staff is knowledgeable and friendly, even while starting busy, and has gone out of their way to help me with multiple things before (e.g. even kindly helping clean up after a sick child!). Saturdays are class days and get busy. They're small parking lot will get full, but being near the end of a side street, street parking is widely available. You might have to walk some yards, but you don't have any trouble even on the busy day. Online ordering and picking up or shipping is available if you prefer. Pricing is fair. They only stock organic of a particular item *IF* the organic is the same price or cheaper than the non-organic version. Otherwise, organic and non are often both available for the most popular grains. I really like how they portion out batch amounts for Ezekiel bread so you can just buy a bag of the 12(?) grains measured out for you instead of having to buy 12 separate small bags of grain. Thoughtful touches like this along with the many free printed hand outs with conversion sheets and guides show that Bread Beckers really cares about empowering people to mill their own grains. They'll walk you through every step. (If you come from far away and need a pit stop with your kiddos like I do, I recommend J.J. Biello Park nearby. They have a restroom, covered pavilion, and playground.)

We just give him a cooking class with Chef Kyle! He raved about the classes so much that we decided to send our daughters to class too! It wasn't until I was in New Orleans and took my first cooking class there that I realized I had a thing or two to learn as well! I was so happy when Sur La Table opened a location near our home and that my husband's favorite chef moved from Phipps to this location! In the last month or two I have taken 5 classes with my neighbor and with my husband. I have learned so many tips and cooking techniques from Chef Kyle Shankman in that time that I am finding myself wanting to take every single class offered! He is a wonderful teacher, clearly very gifted as a chef but also just a natural born teacher. He clearly has a passion for what he is doing and we are lucky to have him at our Sur La Table. Their school motto is Learn. Eat. Laugh. You will find yourself doing all of that and more. We just got home from a "Date Night - Romantic French Dinner" class with our neighbors. I am still thinking about the Caramel Pear Pot de Crème. All four of us could have eaten 4 servings each but the great news is we can, we know exactly how to make them. In the past if I had seen this recipe in a cookbook or on a blog I would have passed it on by. I just wouldn't have trusted my skill level with any French sounding dessert. Chef Kyle made me realize there is really nothing I can't cook. The confidence I have gained is priceless. And the crazy thing about it is I am an experienced cook! The more I write the more I remember to tell you in this review but it's getting a little long-winded (which I am known for lol) so I will try to sum up the rest. When you take a class you will get an additional 10% off your purchases on the day of class with no product restrictions. If you are a new cook and you take these classes - lucky you. You will be light years ahead of your peers. If you are an intermediate or even an experienced cook, these classes will renew your passion for cooking delicious meals. Kyle taught me to make just a slight adjustment in how I hold my knife and now believe it or not, I am enjoying slicing and dicing. This comes in handy since I am an avid cook. Sign up for a class and don't be surprised if you see me there too! Bon Appetit!

This turned out to not be too great. While I am sure that many people learn a bit when they go to…read morethese classes, I did not. Couple specifics: (1) they had a pastry chef doing a "date night" class...the "regularly scheduled" chef had "other things to do"..and when I pay $70 for someone, I want that someone...so bad on Sur La Table for allowing that to happen. BTW...the pastry chef did an ok job...not her fault (2) The meat...the chef or assistants butchered the meat...and not in a good way! Beef Tenderloin is quite easy to butcher correctly...but this was hacked up...and...they had several really nice pieces...but..."those were for the staff." Hmmm...customer service anyone? This did not work out...probably will not be back for any classes here...

Super dope wine venue that's much more than your typical bottle wine shop…read more So it's in a shopping strip mall area so there's free parking there. It's on toward the end of the shopping strip so it's not hard to find. You'll look at the building and there are some indoor and outdoor seats for you, and it's very neat and clean. Coming inside it's a lot bigger than what you would expect. They have a wall of wine, as they should, they have a back room where they do tastings, and not like four tables that are set up. They have like tastings and cooking lessons as well so there's tables and stoves and all sorts of things. They have a full kitchen with a kitchen menu that I hear. The fool was pretty good. I actually didn't try the food on the first time around because I just eaten and I just wanted to stop And to see what it was about because it's been on my list. When I went I sat at the bar and the bartender (Tay) took care of me. She was super cool and we had a good conversation. The bar has liquor there so it's not only wine. They have a very limited selection of liquor but there is liquor there. They have a cocktail menu, again. It's kind of limited, but they can pretty much make whatever you need. But the show the spotlight is going to be on the wine selections. Wish they had plenty of them. I was picking out a wine to try and she definitely helped and gave good advice and led me in a good direction. She was awesome. Now they have a wine club. This wine club is pretty good, so I may consider trying it. I'm already part of wine club elsewhere, but this one might be a little bit different. For the wine club you pay a price and you get about four bottles of wine, but you also get to do all of the tastings as well. You get the good a membership discount if you bring people in to dine-in as well. There's a lot that goes into it. There should be a picture of it in my review so check that out. Oddly enough, they also have trips that they go on for people who want to visit different wine venues. It's really surprising because that isn't a small thing to take group trips to some random part to sample wine. But if you're a wine drinker, and you have the the money to spend, this would be cool to be around like-minded people. They really have a lot to offer! I thought it was a really good random walk-in for me, I enjoyed it. The atmosphere was good, the selections were really good, the customer service was really good, it was great on all parts.
