I get that this place scores high, which is why we went there. First off if anyone thinks this matches Chinese Schezwan food in New York, must be eating it in Albany. We went mid afternoon there and pulled the "we are staying at a hotel," scene to avoid taking home any leftovers. The server seemed perturbed because there was a lot of food left. We did it due to it being yuck. Service was good and food came out fast - did I mention we were the only ones there? My dish was - Grilled Shrimp pot. A lot of shrimp but the taste was off, simply because there wasn't a lot of sauce covering the shrimp and you shouldn't taste a flavor of well the sea. I was told mushrooms were in there. Nope. It has lotus which was everywhere. Fresh veggies were lotus and one other. It was a fail. The spouse went with the spicy diced chicken. The sauce was very good, it had cubed carrots and she said the cubed chicken was very good. We did consider the Grilled Tofu Pot, which mentions fresh vegetables. Which ones? Only cabbage. I guess since there was more than one it makes it plural. I had some pics can't find them. No loss. read more

Great prices, great portions. The Steam bun appetizer is a rarity in Tucson and an absolute must. The Jasmine tea has a floral flavor. Big thanks to my server "Roc" knew both English and Chinese, fast and polite. Every dish so far has been mouthwatering and wonderfully unique. No Teriyaki chicken, all very cultured food here. Shrimp themselves were huge and well prepared, but there was just too much sauce for me - Mom thought it was good though (it's one of her fave dishes). Uh, they have some pretty exotic dishes available and I'm going to leave it at that. Friendly and helpful service. Clean dining room and frankly I liked the ambience after eating at a couple of other Chinese restaurants here lately that felt like eating in a hospital cafeteria. Here, sort of a diner vibe. Went here Friday night. Psa, they have a large menu, which may be a bit overwhelming, but I'm definitely up for the challenge of exploring what they have. The food we got had some hits and misses. The pork and cabbage dumplings were delish! The sesame chicken and sweet and sour soup were good too. I had ordered the Sichuan pork stir fry, and although it did have a numbing effect, the flavor wasn't what I was expecting and not my favorite. My son ordered a beef noodle soup, and the broth was ok, but we honestly had a lot of food already, not realizing it's family style, so it was taken to go. Our server was great! After an absence of about three years, Chinese friends coming to the Gem Shows brought me back to CW three times in the last two weeks. As is customary, we ordered two dishes per person plus extras selected by the host. Service was good considering the gem show attendees packing the restaurant. Among the dishes ordered was steamed talapia, spicy house pot, frog legs, spicy diced chicken, sweet sour fish, honey walnut shrimp, beef with broccoli, house special sauteed vegetables and on and on. Chef Wang has been my go-to for Chinese takeout for years. It's convenient to order online, and although prices have gone up, I still think it's worth it for the freshness, variety, and flavors. My favorite dishes are the meat pie, steamed buns, eggplant tomato potato, and lo mein. We always have leftovers thanks to the generous portions. I liked this place, but there are better Chinese restaurants around Tucson. I ordered the Shrimp Lo Mein and it wasn't bad my any means, but was a little bit one note and not very exciting. I have heard the hot pot from here is the way to go so I will have to try that next time. Still a fun place to go to, but maybe try something different. I was looking for a Chinese Restaurant and bumped into this place. I absolutely loved their food. It is Family Style. We had Traditional Beef Noodle Soup. The noodles were so fresh and the beef so soft, great flavor. We also ordered the Green Onion Pancake, and Chicken Lao Fun. It was all delicious. The service was very good. And the ambiance was comfortable, it was very relaxing hearing soft piano music in the background. Since the pandemic, major surgery, and recuperation in a post-surgery rehab center, I've been pretty isolated from my favorite dining spots. But since one can eat only a limited number of institutional meals without rebelling, I decided to order in last night. My favorite Chinese eatery is on the Far East side, in my home area stomping grounds. But since I'm currently in central Tucson, I saw this as an opportunity to try a restaurant usually too far away from me for delivery. So I checked Yelp reviews and settled on Chef Wang. Online ordering was easy and I requested a two-hour delay. The food arrived hot and at the right time. The food container leaked sauce into the plastic bag, but I don't think I've ever had delivery or take-out Chinese that didn't! I started with vegetable egg rolls. They were perfectly crisp and stuffed with flavorful veg; and not greasy at all. I requested both hot mustard and sweet dipping sauce, regrettably the mustard was in a squeeze package rather than being house made; but only a minor tick. The Mongolian beef was steaming hot and deliciously spicy, though perhaps a touch salty. The container was filled with so much supremely-tender beef in good-sized pieces and lots of crisp-tender yellow onions and scallions - exactly how I most enjoy Mongolian beef. We only wanted the pig ears and spicy beef so we received a larger portion of those items instead of picking a third dish. Generous portions! The pig ears and beef were spicy and tasty. We ordered their Steamed Chicken with Chili sauce (a cold appetizer). This gelatinous cold chicken dish is flavorful and spicy with the Szechuan peppers. Your mouth will experience some numbness as that is normal with Szechuan dishes. We also ordered their Water Boiled Fish and Grilled Intestine Pot. The Water Boiled Fish dish contains tilapia cooked with some spicy seasoning and cabbage--it was a solid dish but not as tasty as the other dishes we ordered. Now, the Grilled Intestine Pot was DA BOMB! It contained intestines, cauliflower, celery, onion, and lotus root all soaked in tasty, mildly spicy sauce bursting with various flavors. Skip the American Chinese dishes like sweet and sour chicken cause where this place really shines is the more authentic dishes. I think this restaurant is pretty authentic, but it's not my favorite. Every-time I've gone I've felt mixed feelings about the food. The Crab Rangoons are honestly my favorite out of anything though. My husband ordered the chicken and vegetables which were cooked perfectly - tender but crisp. The sauce was also flavorful and not spicy at all. I ordered the shrimp hot pot, which was scrumptious and spicy - chili and jalapeños! It had plenty of nice large shrimp cooked perfectly with tender crisp cauliflower, succulent white yams and lotus root. All the food was so fresh and delicious. Portions were a good size as well. This is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in Tucson. The only problem is that most of the dishes I liked are being discontinued. For instance, they used to make this amazing eggplant dish that is no longer in the menu. The chef noodle is different and doesn't taste as good as the previous one. Cumin lamb is no longer available as an appetizer and the shrimp fried rice is a bit too salty for my daughters now. Overall I still enjoy their fried cabbage and a few other dishes still available. With the sad news this past year of the closing of some longstanding Chinese restaurants here in town, newcomer Chef Wang changes it up introducing dishes from different Chinese cuisines. What an awesome surprise Chef Wang was for me. Food 5/5: I was lucky enough to come here with a big group of friends and got to sample many of their exquisite dishes. What stood out to me was their stews which had rich deep flavors that I'm not that use to since I'm used to going to Cantonese style Chinese Restaurants. Chef Wang's Northeastern style dishes had ingredients like pickled vegetables, cabbage, cumin, braised tofu, potatoes, a variety of wild mushrooms, and more. Chef Wang also offers Sichuan items on its vast multi-page menu of over a hundred dishes. For those patrons who are used to the different flavors of Northeastern or Sichuan Chinese Cuisine, they have a page of "Chinese American" items, which include the popular Western dish General Tso's Chicken. My personal favorite dishes that I enjoyed are the Grilled Chicken Pot, Dong-Bei Stew, and Cabbage and Pork Dumplings. Atmosphere/Vibe 3/5: Interior is a very traditional looking Chinese restaurant to me. Not a lot of frills here; it's about the food here. There is a cold preserved food area where you can order take-out. Plenty of parking is available. Prices 5/5: Prices are good because the portions are generous. Service/Cleanliness 5/5: People taking the orders were friendly and were willing to answer any questions. Food was prepared quickly and we had short waits several times I went.
