We had the misfortune of dining here on a Monday night, when they have a Pasta Bar. The logistics around it were horrible. It was located in the middle of a corridor that we had to pass through to get to our table. There had to be at least a dozen people standing two abreast in a corridor intended for one person. We tried their calamari appetizer and were quite disappointed. They definitely did not use calamari steak, which is tender and succulent. Rather, they use calamari at the low end, and it was correspondingly tough and chewy. They offer a choice of unlimited salad or soup. Our server completely forgot to bring ours until after our main courses arrived. Had we not inquired about it, I suspect it would have been missed completely. As it turned out, the salad was mediocre at best, which is surprising considering it was supposed to be fresh. Not so sure about their supplier. The olive oil and herb mixture they served with their rolls was much more fresh than their salad, bitter implying a positive situation (fresh phenols) when it comes to Extra Virgin or Virgin oils. We ordered their Carbonara with Angel Hair pasta instead of spaghetti and fortunately, it was some of the best I have had in probably 30 years. The main course made up for the appetizer, though. Ignored and Disrespected -- A Terrible Experience…read more My mother and daughter visited this IHOP location in Bourbonnais, IL today around 12:30 PM hoping for a nice lunch. Unfortunately, they were completely ignored from the moment they sat down. After waiting about 10 minutes, my mother went to the restroom. When she returned, she asked my daughter if anyone had come to the table -- no one had. They waited another 10 minutes after that. Still, not a single employee approached them. No water, no menus, no acknowledgment -- absolutely nothing. Meanwhile, other tables were being served around them. The lack of service, the blatant disregard, and the feeling of being unwelcome can't be chalked up to a "busy shift." It felt discriminatory. This kind of behavior is unacceptable. No one should be made to feel invisible when they're simply trying to enjoy a meal. IHOP needs to address this location's standards -- or lack thereof -- immediately.
