Best cocktail selection in Topeka and not the same drinks that are typically seen. The cocktails are definitely delicious and I'd come here just for drinks! The restaurant looks nice, Very clean and casual but not too casual. The flowers on each table are a very nice touch. Service has always been friendly, quick and attentive. I've been here a few times now and every time the chef or owner has come to our table to chat for a moment. They always ask how we liked the food and thank us for visiting. Prices are a bit steep but I like patronizing local business so I don't mind but don't expect anything less than $15 per entre for lunch. Portion size was about right. We finished our meal, leaving full, but not stuffed. I'd recommend Chef's Kiss for a nice meal out like a birthday, date or other special occasion. 5 Stars! read more

I wish that I could give an outstanding review for Chef's Kiss, unfortunately the service fell far below expectations. We never got to the food part. I was looking forward to dining here for months. We arrived at 5:50pm on 24 June. We were seated right away. The restaurant appeared to be about 2/3 filled with seating at a few tables still available. The waitress brought menus and I asked for a few minutes to review. She returned in about 5 minutes for our requests - lasagna with a garden salad and chicken parmigiana with a Caesar salad. And then we waited. After about 20 minutes, she came to pick up our salad plates but we had not yet received our salads. In another 5+ minutes, she returned with very small salad bowls. OK. Then we waited another 15 minutes. She returned to collect our empty bowls and we waited another 20 minutes. At this point we have nothing in front of us but 2 glasses of water and utensils. Our waitress returned and asked how we enjoyed our meals. What meals? We had now been here over an hour. I told our waitress to get us a bill for whatever we owed for the salads because we were leaving. There was one waitress bustling around with plates of food and our waitress who seemed confused about serving our food and also some issue with the table next to ours. I'm wondering if she ever turned in our orders. In the hour we had been there, 2 other couples arrived, placed their orders and were served while we waited. As we were leaving, the owner made a comment about how we didn't understand what a "scratch kitchen" meant. I told him that I did understand the meaning, and maybe he should post a sign telling his customers to expect many hours of waiting for their meals. We had been there for 1 hour and 10 minutes with no food in sight, with a waitress who seemed confused and probably forgot to turn in our food requests, and with no expectation of food to come. We won't be back. There are other Italian restaurants in town that have good service and food. And that value our time and attendance with attentive service. read more

Food and service were great. We had the spinach dip, garlic bread, baked ziti, and shrimp scampi. All served fresh, hot, and good portion sizes. Not that busy on Friday evening and was cleared out by 8pm. Took one star off for furnishings. I know that seems a little silly, but the booth benches were cracked and damaged and the chairs on the main floor looked worn down and very dated. Price point was reasonable and the food good. First time to the newest Italian restaurant in Topeka. Family ran and hitting the 3 month mark. I will say if what I got continues to hold the quality I feel they will do great. I had the create your plate with Penne pasta and bolognese sauce with meatballs. It was great and the waitress warned me about the size of the meatballs lol. Normally I have to ask for additional sauce but did not here. The salad was a typical salad probably should have tried the soup. I added garlic bread and there was more than a single person can eat just as the plate was. Didn't eat all and had some to take home. Topped the meal off with Cannoli and for one person one would have been enough but you get 2. Darn good. It look like they were prepping for Christmas back is a nice place to relax. They do have a room with a TV that can be used for larger parties. read more

Four tables, and a minimum 45 wait for food. The server never checked on us, and after 45 minutes said they were out of biscuits (We ordered) and would a bun be an ok replacement? No. The cook was openly upset we left (offered to pay for it drinks). No kids menu, they don't substitute, just never again. This place will be closed by August. read more

My wife and I visted to try out this new, boutique Italian restaurant. We had a truly wonderful experience. We loved that we could make a reservation, and when we arrived the hostesses warmly welcomed us. My wife made her own pasta dish (Vodka Cream sauce, with shrimp and linguine) and the house salad which she thoroughly enjoyed. I ordered the Tuscan Ribeye, with French onion soup and parmessan encrusted fries. (The soup is AMAZING - highly recommend trying it!). We shared the chocolate lasagne for desert and both enjoyed it. We waited a couple of months after the Chef's Kiss opened before we decided to try it out. As stated in other reviews, the place does have a musty odor when you first walk in. We arrived as they re-opened for dinner. Some days they have lunch hours, then dinner hours. 4:30 PM should be a time for hardly any crowd but we were surprised that 4 tables were full and 6 more filled up before we left at 5:15. Great service with checking on our meal twice. Pay at the table with the server and her remote device. The chicken parm was good and my lasagne was also very good. The salad was very small and no breadsticks served with the entree. We also tried the stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer and found them to be adequate but not as warm as we expected. My wife had the creme brulleé and I ordered the tiramisu. Creme brulleé was fantastic and the tiramisu okay but disappointing. Every item appears to be over-priced. We eat Italian every week at another restaurant and these prices are a bit higher for similar items. They do have a fairly extensive menu with various sauces, as they should have. We had dinner reservations for Christmas and the restaurant had ran out of many of the dishes which was disappointing. Perhaps if they had not allowed carry out, the restaurant would have the food available for those who had made reservations. With that being said the food was good and the staff was friendly. So my gf and I dined at this place just recently. I had seen rave reviews since it's opening in August 2025, so it sounded like a great place to go. As soon as you walk in your ears are assaulted by a loud musician playing saxophone to a background music track from a cellphone. The speaker turned up so high, that customers have to be even louder to be heard by their table mates. Mind you, this is a small place, and so isn't conducive to quiet conversations amongst friends, family or dates that one might think in a quant Italian restaurant. The waitstaff has to shout to be heard over the cacophony of noise, and if you want to know what the table 10 feet away is having, you'll find out. The service was good, they were busy but seemed to handle it well. When we ordered we got salads with our main dish. Salads were premade and prepackaged in hospital cafeteria style bowls stored in a refrigerator within view of the dining room. Peel off the clear wrap, plop a small container of the dressing of choice in the bowl and served to the customer as is. The remaining food was served in traditional restaurant style dish ware. Our food was good, nothing I can say was bad about it. Our waitress was attentive and despite forgetting a beverage that was ordered did a great job. All in all it was a disappointing visit. The atmosphere left a lasting impression on me. Too loud for such a small space. Luckily I was told that the live music is only every other Saturday so book a reservation accordingly. If you're serving food on traditional restaurant style dish ware then it needs to be consistent in all aspects of the meal, start to finish. Salads shouldn't be prepackaged for a restaurant of this style. Pre chopped salads, tossed with a measured scoop of dressing by and served with croutons and shaved parmesan etc by a chef is what this place deserves. Not leave it to the customer to dole out their own dressing like they're at Dennys or a diner. read more

Great service. Decent food minus the bread sticks which were so dry and inedible. Cocktails were good. I wanted the espresso martini and I was told they were out. Disappointing since we were there for happy hour and they were not busy. Biggest complaint was the smell. Like an old sewer smell. It was awful. The smell would keep me from going back.
