    fried rice
    Luna V.

Food here is so bad. It is what i expected for pittsford chinese food but seriously didnt expect all the random substitutions for the food i ordered. The broth i got with a dish was almost all water with no flavor. I feel like fried rice is pretty hard to butcher in a chinese restaurant but this is the worst ive had in my life. its literally unflavored yellow rice with a few peas mixed in, small bits of onion and carrot. literally so dissatisfied i wish i could get a refund

Gravy, was completely watery and tasteless

Clearly watered down their gravy, fried rice was just yellow rice with some pees. Clearly taking customers for fools who will accept anything

    Hot n sour soup

This is a "I've got a cold n need hot n sour soup asap" review. The service was super quick. The soup had the expected ingredients, nothing fancy. It wasn't too hot or too sour. Average middle of the hot n sour road experience.

Shrimp egg roll, Vegetable Lo Mein, Broccoli w. Garlic Sauce, Sesame Bean Curd

Chef King is my FAVORITE place in the Pittsford area for Chinese takeout. My two favorites items: 1) veggie Lo mein - the noodles are thick, almost like udon. Broccoli, carrots, mini corn, and water chestnuts are included. 2) broccoli (or anything) in GARLIC SAUCE- BEST garlic sauce I have had in all of rochester. 10/10.

This is my favorite Chinese food place in all of Rochester. Five stars all the way. Also the best wonton soup I've had on the east coast.

You can order off the full menu from the bar so it's a perfect spot if it's just one or two people. The crab and lobster fondue is amazing and we order it every time we come. The wagyu meatballs are also a regular order. The she crab soup is VERY good and the chopped salad is a fave. You can order a half or the large one is definitely big enough for 2 to 3 people to share. The lobster bucatini and the scallops are always good. For steak - try splitting the tomahawK with another person - plenty for 2 people. And they will slice it for the table if asked.

Unfortunately, this Mother's Day 5/10/26 experience was disappointing enough that I felt compelled to leave a review. We had reservations for 3:30 PM on Mother's Day, and in the special request section of the reservation, I clearly specified that this was a Mother's Day celebration. I also requested a quiet or private booth and mentioned that my daughter is vegetarian. Upon arrival, we were seated upstairs directly next to what appeared to be an employee service area. We could constantly hear employees talking, dishes being washed or thrown around, and overall it was easily the loudest table in the restaurant. What made this more frustrating was that another couple seated next to us complained loudly about their table and caused a scene. Although staff initially explained the restaurant was full, they were eventually moved. Meanwhile, we had politely requested a better table in advance through the reservation system, yet because we were patient and understanding, it felt like we were simply ignored. Service throughout the meal was inconsistent and inattentive. It took quite a while before anyone took our drink order. The wine menu presented to me only included wines by the glass, despite the fact that I later saw servers bringing full bottles of wine and champagne to other tables. I wanted to order a bottle of champagne for the occasion, but by the time our waitress finally arrived, I didn't want to complicate things further. Another detail that stood out was the complete lack of acknowledgment for Mother's Day. I overheard our waitress enthusiastically wishing other tables a "Happy Mother's Day" and asking if they were celebrating anything special, yet she never once acknowledged me or our celebration. My husband ordered a piña colada and was told they could not make one, so he settled for a strawberry martini that was overwhelmingly sweet and unenjoyable. We chose not to complain. The food itself, as always, was excellent and truly the highlight of the evening. However, the service continued to feel rushed and impersonal. I was planning to order my favorite espresso martini after dinner, but instead the bill was simply dropped at the table without anyone asking if we wanted dessert or another drink. One employee who was handling bread and water service also made us feel rushed. While I was literally still chewing my food, she interrupted to ask, "Should I bag that for you?" It made me feel like we were being pushed out. I was also disappointed that despite specifically mentioning my daughter was vegetarian in the reservation notes, our waitress never offered vegetarian suggestions or asked about dietary restrictions. At most upscale restaurants, this level of attentiveness is expected. The most upsetting part of the evening, however, was what felt like dismissive and unprofessional behavior toward us as Latinos. My husband has an accent, and our waitress repeatedly pretended not to understand him. At one point, after commenting on his accent, she laughed and said, "Or maybe I'm deaf." We found this rude, uncomfortable, and inappropriate for a restaurant of this caliber. Ironically, despite the poor experience, I still tipped over 20% -- more than $100 from our table alone -- because I did not want to reinforce unfair stereotypes about Latinos not tipping. Black & Blue has always justified its upscale pricing through excellent food and outstanding hospitality, which is why this experience was so disappointing. While the food remains exceptional, the atmosphere has become extremely loud and chaotic, to the point where it reminded me more of Red Lobster than the elevated dining experience this restaurant once offered. I truly hope management takes customer service more seriously moving forward, because this visit was nowhere near the standard Black & Blue used to represent.

We started with a flight of mediocre (as it turned out) red wines; a Grenache, an Italian varietal, and a Cabernet. 3x2 or 6 ounces for $15.00. None of the wines were very good. We like to sample wines by the flight so we can drive up to Georgetown liquor and get a bottle. None of these were even close to prompting a visit there. For food we had a peach, tomato, quinoa, goat, and kale salad. We also had a cheese flight and I had the spicy meatballs. Expensive and very small portions. My meatball app was $15 and was 1 and 1/2 small meatballs doused in Frank's with a squirt of blue cheese. It was spicy as advertised but meager. Cheese flight was ok, but also $13 for not a lot. Spoiler alert: if their menu says 'shareable', it's not, unless one of you (or both) are fasting. Service was adequate and we got to enjoy the live music entertainment sound check (we got there before the actual performance). Guy banging on the percussion box: yes, it's way too loud for the tiny space. Usual server upselling of their overpriced menu items and drinks, but not delivering much in the way of hospitality or warmth. I don't think we would go back unless one of our friends wanted to. I think if you just want to drink and listen to live music, this place will work for you.
