The service here is very quick. I called my order in and it was ready in under 10 minutes. It came out relatively hot but not scorching. My sesame chicken is just a tiny bit sweeter than I'm used to and is very saucy - but tasty. The rice and egg roll are ok. It's a little less than what I expected and they were out of duck sauce when I went. The restaurant doesn't have tables, it's strictly take-out. Chef King gives you what you want, good Chinese, at a great price. It's the cheaper lunch combo type Chinese food. Similar to what you might get at the food court at a mall. Their portion sizes are fair to large and they have been around a long time in this area. That's proof enough right there that they haven't gone out of business in a very selective community that their food is good! For whatever reason, people in Rochester are obsessed with new chains when they come to the area and while they might not last long, they take away from more established restaurants in the area. Chef King is able to continue to survive when these newer places come to the area because they have a loyal following of customers. Would recommend if you're in the area and hungry for Chinese! Unrelated to the food, they at least had a really cool plexiglass setup to make customers feel safe during the pandemic. Not sure if it's still in place or not. Since the new owners took over a year ago, business has been in full swing. While nothing has actually changed to the appearance of the place, the food has made a major upgrade in freshness and quality. Chef King isn't a top tier Chinese restaurant so don't expect any fancy dishes or top-of-the-line cut beef. Chef King is a working-man's type of restaurant in the idea that anyone with $5 in their pocket can get a good meal. This rings true when it comes to their lunch special which ranges from $5-$6. My advice is to go with the classics at Chef King because it's the safest best. Sweet & Sour Chicken, Sesame Chicken, Lo Mein, Fried Rice, are probably the best route to go when ordering food here but to each their own. Even though Chef King isn't a place that's going to blow your mind it's definitely a better deal than Wegmans which isn't something that comes easily. Whether you're ordering pickup or delivery, the new owners have brought a new atmosphere and sense of pride that was lacking for the past 10 years. Overall, if you're looking for a very affordable chinese restaurant in a pinch and aren't willing to drive to the city or Henrietta, Chef King should fit your bill. read more

Recently moved back to the area. Chef King is the best local option for Chinese. Very affordable and very good.

I moved from the city into Pittsford recently and this is the only Chinese place I know of that will deliver to my house. My wife and I tried them out and probably won't be ordering again. Don't get me wrong, I thought it was fine (though the sesame chicken tasted different than I'm used to) but while I am not terribly picky, my wife is. She couldn't stand the food and hardly ate any of it. At this point, instead of delivery, I'm driving to China House in Fairport and doing pickup on our take-out nights. My wife loves their food and I like that they have excellent Pho as well. They will have to get my vote even though I'm not within their delivery radius. If you absolutely need delivery and food from Chinese restaurants all taste the same to you, Chef King will probably be fine. Otherwise if you're within delivery range of China House or China Garden, I would recommend them first. read more

It was mediocre, I didn't feel like I was going to get food poisioning, but I also didn't feel compelled to finish my meal either. For $6 I got chicken, rice and a soda; you can't get a deal like the most places. My food was done in 8 minutes and the portions were good. Of you are in a pinch, this will do. This place used to be pretty good. Apparently ownership has changed and has gone downhill. Moo shu is supposed to include Chinese "pancakes" to make a Chinese burrito of sorts. We received a stack of 4" x 4" uncooked wonton wrappers to do this which were too small and thin to do anything with. Fortunately they weren't too large to fit i. The trash can. They included about a tablespoon of sauce. Dumplings were good but were not packed with any sauce. Kung Pao celery was an interesting interpretation of Kung Pao chicken. I just wish it included a few pieces of chicken. Heed my advice and make the trip to Chen Garden in Brighton. It's worth the trip. read more

This is a very good chinese takeout. The house special mei fun was very good, hot, and fresh. The bbq spare ribs are good but dont expect them to be saucy, they are crispier. The veggie egg rolls are light and crispy, not greasy like some other places in the area. The fried rice tasted really fresh. Dont expect 5 star dining this is a good takeout place and the prices are more than fair. I really appreciated the extra steps they took to protect customers during this time. This was the worst meal we've ever had. It was literally inedible for the five of us. We ordered a large sampling of food and exactly none of it was good. The "chicken" was unrecognizable- no meat, just strange white mass mixed in with a shred of dark meat. The beef with broccoli was tough and the broccoli so saturated with a thick, fake sugary sauce that it congealed to the container. The chicken chow main was a mass of slushy white that, when turned over upside down, didn't move from the carton. The wonton soup was lukewarm, tasteless dishwater liquid with unrecognizable "meat" filled dumplings. It all went into the trash and we're now eating peanut butter toast for dinner.
