We got lucky and were the only couple to come in on a Saturday afternoon for a class. The instructors were awesome and you could tell they loved what they did and were proud of the ice cream that they make there. They walk you through the whole process from start to finish. You make your ice cream base, add mix ins, sauces, and eat! They freeze the base with liquid nitrogen so that was fun to watch as well. Majority of their ingredients are either from their farm or sourced from local vendors which we love! And all of the cups/bowls you use during the process are made in the glass studio next door. They also sell their homemade ice cream there so you can stop in whenever and get a cup or a pint. We sampled some flavors and they were great. Also have a bar so you can have a drink while you take your class. Great experience, would highly recommend!!

Ms. Farhat has the patience of a saint and an incredibly warm and nurturing approach to working with the children. We enjoyed making apple crisp in the first of a series of classes focused on the ABC's which included preparing and mixing ingredients, sampling different kinds of apples and charting individual taste preferences, using crayons to draw their favorite apple on a copy of the recipe to take home and finally story time with a book that tied into the theme while waiting for the apple crisp to bake. The children were all kindly asked to wash their hands prior to handling any ingredients and were kept incredibly safe with activities designed to keep them away from the oven and used kid friendly kitchen tools in preparation of ingredients. I highly recommend registering your child for an upcoming cooking adventure at Mixitup-Kitchen and bring the joy of cooking to your children!

The school was founded as a coeducational institution in 1877 by Helen Adelia Rowe Metcalf, who sought to increase the accessibility of design education to women. Today, RISD offers bachelor's and master's degree programs across 19 majors and enrolls approximately 2,000 undergraduate and 500 graduate students. The Rhode Island School of Design Museum--which houses the school's art and design collections--is one of the largest college art museums in the United States. The Rhode Island School of Design is affiliated with Brown University, whose campus sits immediately adjacent to RISD's on Providence's College Hill. The two institutions share social and community resources and since 1900 have permitted cross-registration. Together, RISD and Brown offer dual degree programs at the graduate and undergraduate levels. As of 2022, RISD alumni have received 10 MacArthur Genius fellowships, five Primetime Emmy Awards, and three Academy Awards. A 2016 analysis of the most successful American artists at auction found that the vast plurality held undergraduate degrees from RISD.
