While I recommend trying to get a seat at the chefs table. Honestly, you will still have a great time at the main seating area. No one ever truly stays in their seat. We all get up and look and taste and chat. Parking is a breeze. I have always found parking on Leonard St between Jackson and Withers with no problem. Both times I've come solo and didn't feel alone at all. This will be a recurring activity for me.

I've eaten that it was the best time I've had eating food in a long time. Reservations are insanely hard to come by their offered two weeks in advance for a period of two weeks and you better be online second they come open and even then you might not get a seat. But if you do get a Seat pay the extra money to sit the front row it is so worth it. This is a chopped/iron chef competition dinner where there are two chefs that are given mystery ingredients an hour and a half before the guests arrive. They are allowed one sous shop to assist them and they came up with a plan for appetizer, which is the first time event and a main course which is the second time event and a dessert which is the third time event. It's a flat fee reservation with tip included, except for the drink which you order off the menu and they have very reasonable prices and then you're expected to tip on that. Weeknight reservations are cheaper than weekend. The location is right next to the subway exit so if you're coming from Manhattan, it's an easy ride on the subway. There is a master of ceremonies host who tells you all the rules and conducts the voting and the penalties for overtime spent for ingredients lacking in the chef's dinner. The customers are the ones that award points. On my most recent minute visit a couple days ago I found that one chef had the most superb salmon appetizer that I have ever had. It was pretty much perfect and I would order it at any restaurant that I went to. However, he totally was a failure when it came to desserts and unfortunately, he lost the competition. It was kind of interesting as the males overly selected. The male chefs recipes has been superior and didn't really concentrate on his totally terrible dessert while the female females voted for the female chef. Most several couples were split on their vote. It was quite interesting. This would make a superb family outing or business activity, dinner or romantic date! I highly highly recommend Hudson Table!

They made sure to follow up with me and make sure everything was perfect to surprise my boyfriend. We opted for a 4-person light omakase (10 pieces). One of our guests is a picky eater and they were super accommodating. He ended up having mostly salmon, yellowtail and veggies but everything was varied so he could have a similar experience to us! We did the sake pairings add-on and it was delicious. They brought over 3 different types and each were crisp and matched well with the omakase. My faves were: -Perch (so fresh!) -Hotate (scallop) -Uni (usually I don't like Uni [a sin as a foodie I know] but this was soo good) -both salmons (king and Scottish) -sea eel (similar to unagi but apparently diff and way better imo) -the cheesecake was a great sweet ending to the meal Kenji was our sushi chef and he was AMAZING. So nice, approachable and knowledgeable. You can tell he's honed his craft and takes pride in his work. We also had a waitress who was just as great (this was back in June and I forget her name) They both made sure to keep our drinks full, our bites fresh and the vibe/fun going! They interacted with us and told us about the different dishes and fish we were eating but also gave us private time. They also took pictures for us! Special kudos to how they knew all of what to expect too...ie. they were spot on right down to knowing certain foods wouldn't really be eaten as much as others (yes, we went against their advice and yes, we were wrong...lol...but good news is I have tons of leftovers for lunch this week!) Other notes: East Wing is perfect for about 50 people, especially if you need tables and other things laid out in the space. Its well lit but private, their is a bathroom in the room, there are great nooks and crannies to store things (strollers, presents, etc) and the food is both delicious and portioned correctly. We did a lot of research and the way EDBM prices its party packages is by far the best, especially for the nicer ambiance and food quality. They are upfront with all their charges, and at the end of the day, you definitely get more for your money than you would at other places around town of similar size and service. Also, a special kudos to their onsite party host, Lindsay. She is a master party manager, bartender, hostess, problem solver, and generally kind-spirited person. (amazing) The food was amazing, and for those who had dietary restrictions, the chef was 5 steps ahead and already prepared and alternative! We had an amazing time, learned a lot, and requested recipes! it was an intimate space for 40, but we were able to cook, lounge, and drink very comfortably. As soon as we walked in, it smelled amazing! The size of the location was perfect because we were always engaged. (with cooking or each other) Sally was my point of contact - she was 100% professional, patient, great communicator, and worked with us and the chef seamlessly. I cannot brag enough on Miette. What also speaks volumes is when I was looking for a cooking class, ANOTHER class suggested that I look into Miette. (their space was not big enough). Therefore, everything is prepped really well and with basic kitchen skills you and your team can prepare the food. I did learn a good onion dicing technique that I used the next day. In any event, our supervising chef was Ryan and he was great. Really energetic and helpful. There was plenty of work to do for all of us and the time went by quickly. When it came time to eat, we were all very hungry. I thought all the food was delicious. I was surprised at how generous the portions were, especially the dessert. Of course that didn't stop me from eating the whole thing. This was a really nice group activity and the staff there do a great job of getting things done so the program moves along without feeling rushed. Definitely recommend this for a corporate event.

Not having any idea of what to expect, i walked in late (unfortunately... stupid trains!) to a little dining table already set up with a seat open just for me. Shuchi's stories around each one of her dishes and how they came about are so unique and interesting, just as unique and beautiful as each of her dishes, both in display and taste. Each dish was flavored so well and had many elements to them. Some restaurants bore me with their monotonous dishes, but I can assure you that Chef Shuchi's dishes will NOT bore you. I was presented with a menu and the first course - some of the most amazing overnight oats I've ever had. So good, that I'm probably going to steal the recipe off her blog and make some at home myself. Who knew something as simple as oatmeal could be so memorable? The lumpee poha had just the right amount of spiciness to it and was a texture unlike that I've ever had before. The dining experience with Shuchi is very interactive, so you can ask as many questions as you'd like, including where one could obtain poha! Cilantro chutney was to die for. The aloo toastie was also a treat. The bean bharta was basically like an Indian-inspired chicken chili with avocado - I've never thought to add avocado to my chili, but will have to do so now! The scrambled frittata was also Indian-inspired and tasteful and came with a lovely spinach sauce. Finally, we had the honor of trying her cardamom infused Indian coffee - this little espresso-sized cup was heaven, along with the toasted cake bite it came with. I would gladly have Shuchi cook for me instead of going out to any Indian restaurant - this was such a unique and lovely experience, and I can only hope that others may get to enjoy what we did!

It's not often that I have had a well-curated five-course meal in a private chef's abode. Scratch that...I never have, until recently. I was lucky enough to be invited to a private residence in the city to experience the fine cooking of Chef Shuchi, the brains behind 29 Calories. In this particular brunch, she made small servings of some of the breakfasts she remembers from her childhood, but re-imagined and improved upon. She served a story with each dish, and we noshed on various dishes with oats, vegetables, meats, eggs, coffee, and cake, each with a truly unique Indian influence within them. Her hospitality and warmth is pretty unparalleled, and she was very open when we had questions about the food, the spices she used, her background in cooking, et al. The two hours I spent at this brunch was too short! I can only hope to be lucky enough to be able to eat some of her dishes again! It was all exquisite! I had the pleasure of working with Christali, the Event Coordinator. She was sweet, diligent, creative and honest.
