I first met Chef Kim at a birthday dinner given by a friend of mine in August, 2012. I was a bit tardy for the party but when I arrive I was greeted with a drink and served immediately. When all was said and done, I was highly impressed and thought to myself "I want Chef Kim" lol. So I ended up hiring her for my birthday dinner in December. From the first email to the moment Chef Kim walked out of my place, I was very impressed. She not only provides excellent service and prepares a great meal, she caters especially to you, your event and your guests. I really don't want to mention the number of emails and phone calls I made to Chef Kim but I will say that the last email was me apologizing for being a pest.lol.. However, each and every email was answered in a timely manner and with a quick solution. Chef Kim assured me, that my dinner would be awesome and I would be stress free!!! And that is was. She worked with my budget and provided drinks and a menu that was out of this world. (my guest are still talking about the peach mojitos). I would highly recommend Chef Kim to all interested in having a wonderful and delicious event. I never write reviews. Not because I don't want to but usually I just don't have time or forget (I know - there are more important people than me that find time to write reviews). But, the fact that I have remembered and made time to do write this is a testament to Chef Kimberly Van Kline. Recently my wife and I were celebrating her birthday. However due to chemotherapy I was afraid she would not have the energy to go out to a nice dinner. I called Chef Van Kline and immediately knew that she was a God send. She worked with me to formulate a menu that would be both delicious as well as palatable depending on how my wife was feeling that day. The day of her birthday Chef Van Kline worked with me to plan the evening as a surprise. My wife was overwhelmed. It was a perfect evening. The food was better than anything we would have gotten at any restaurant I was planning on taking her to. The ambiance was perfect and the easy conversation with the chef and her staff made the night feel very relaxed, yet very special. Luckily for us, we had so much leftovers we were able to extend the celebration all weekend. Thank you again Chef Van Kline. I decided to do something different for my boyfriend's birthday. I hired Kimberly Van Kline, (Passion for the Palete) to prepare dinner for us. Se created the menu which included creative headings like First Kiss, which was the salad, apple goat cheese salad,then came the appetizer which was titled Foreplay, minicrab cake and fried oyster, light, tasty and oh so succulent. Then for the main course titled ,Gettin Hot In Here, which was chicken marsala, (delicious),garlic mashed potatoes, whipped to perfection and dessert was grilled pound cake, vanilla ice cream with balsalmic dressing.My man and I were in heaven so we decided to take the dessert and smear it all over our bodies and then, (I'm sorry I was about to get personal, back to the food). I'm "30 something" and I don't really enjoy large B-day events like I used to, so I decided to do something super intimate, yet entertaining and classy! What could be better than great food in a vacation rental in the Hamptons? Answer: Great food, a vacation rental in the Hamptons... prepared by Chef Kim! Kimberly has a down to earth personality and the gift of making a simple meal look and taste fabulous. My menu choice was BBQ style: Moroccan turkey burgers, broiled shrimp tacos, salmon steaks with lots of great sides. The signature drinks: basil/vodka twist on a lemonade along side my fav... coconut MOJITO!!!!! Not only did she bring staff to create speedy prep and service, but she taught us the simple methods behind the madness... Words can't express the professionalism Chef Kim exemplifies while preparing the dish of your liking. She performs with grace and class and is very humble to her guest. She carted my girlfriends' birthday party and her presentation was phenomenal. She explained what entailed in every dish that was presented. How many times have you been to a party and go I had this dish but can never explain what it was, well stop the press, Chef Kim not only presents the dish but explains what's in it and how it's made before your taste buds go to work. I will recommend Chef Kim any day of the week whether it's for a black tie affair or children's party she is top of my list. I had the privilege of working with Kimberly as I was planning a surprise dinner party for my boyfriends 30th birthday. He is a major foodie so I knew I had to make sure the food was amazing!!! Kimberly went above and beyond the call of duty: she helped me come up with a menu, then patiently helped me come up with another one 2 weeks before the event because I changed my mind at the last minute. She was prompt, very professional and most importantly the food and presentation was amazing!!! My 12 guests were raving about our 4 course meal with wine and cocktail pairings!!! Passion for the Palate is fine Culinary Arts at it's best. Ms. Van Kline prepared Deviled Eggs for one of my parties which left my guests asking over and over again WHO THE HELL MADE THOSE DEVILED EGGS? Now, they expect me to have them at each and every one of my events. They definitely made a WOW at the party because within 10 minutes of me placing them out they were gone. I myself never had the opportunity to taste them. I guess I'll have to put some aside the next time before I place any out. My daughter loves the Red Velvet Cake as well as the freshly made Sangria. I recently utilized this service for a gathering of a small group of friends in my home. I initially had a bit of uncertainty, given that I am a "Type A" personality and I like for things to be carried out a certain way. I have to say that any concerns I had were eradicated after my experience. Chef Van Kline was tremendous; both from a perspective of presentation as well as the quality of the cuisine. All of my friends have not stopped talking about how incredible the food was, as well as how creative the drinks were. Exceptional, Amazing, Delicious...What more can I say?? Not only did she accomodate a last min request, but then she surprised us with an additional 3 more courses to make it a 6-course dinner. It was my boyfriend birthday and I wanted to do something romantic/personable for him, and thought hiring Chef KVK would be a great idea. WOW!!! We were completely blown away with the love she incorporates into her dishes.
