I noticed postings online about Cheesecake Guy around town and stopped by recently when I saw them at a local Saturday food truck stop.
It is hard to miss the brightly colored/graffiti-inspired logo on the side of the truck. I was warmly greeted when I came up to the menu and there were many different types of cheesecake slices available, ranging from the basic, to fruit flavored, chocolate, and other variations. I think that anyone could have found a slice that they liked. I love dessert and have a major sweet tooth, but cheesecake in general is not at the top of my dessert-go-to lists. I am always willing to try something out for research, you know!
I selected the chocolate peanut butter slice, and it was pre-packed in a good sized plastic container, garnished with a bit of whipped cream. I have to say, it was one of the best slices of flavored cheesecake I have had. The toppings were of good quality and the cheesecake had that tangy flavor to it while being creamy throughout. I know how difficult cheesecake can be to bake properly. While it was rich, it wasn't so bad that I couldn't finish it after eating a meal beforehand. I liked that it was not sickeningly sweet, and the flavors stood out, rather than being covered up by sugar. You can really taste their fresh, quality ingredients in the batter.
From their online social media postings, Cheesecake Guy does full and half cheesecakes, personalized sized ones, and mini bite ones for along with their food truck slices. They have a menu of flavors they can do online, but no pricing list or info on how to order/lead time needed for larger orders.
While I understand the costs, $6 a slice for cheesecake on the go may shy some people away. They were selling 2 slices for $11 as a special. It was an average sized slice, but I can see where some may not want to committee to that cost for a dessert. Granted, you can go get ice cream now and it is close to $4-5, so for a special treat, I think it is worth it. They might consider selling some of the mini bites cheesecakes too. Especially at events with lots of trucks and hot weather, I might not want too heavy of a dessert.
I am interested to see some more unique flavors and ideas that they come up with! read more
