Even though it was busy the staff was attentive, making sure we were well cared for. I was impressed by the constant attention given to the dinning room. This is a MUST try in Wilmington. We came to check out the cargo district when we first moved here a few months ago & decided to stop in for lunch. Even though it was the middle of the week, it was full of people, which is a good sign the food is good. We tried their Figgie Smalls & Asian fries. OH man was that an amazing sandwich. The bread was toasted perfectly, the cheese was melted, & the other flavors complimented each other so well. It did take longer than expected to get our order but there were a lot of people waiting for orders ahead of us already. Just something to keep in mind when ordering in the future. Don't expect it to be ready in 5 mins but it's worth the wait. We decided to eat at one of the picnic tables outside so our toddler could run around a little bit there are plenty of seating inside and out. It was so good that we got it again a few days later & brought it over to Bull City Cider across the street since they don't offer food but allow outside food. Holy cheese! We have found our new spot when we come to Wilmington! Stopped by on Sunday about 4pm and quickly found ourselves eating the Best grilled Maple Bacon grilled cheese ever! Perfectly cooked bread and a side of parm fries. The smith sauce was perfect for the fries. One thing I suggest is they add a side of maple syrup to dip into. Yum! I don't usually like vegan cheese much, but wow does their vegan buffalo baby hit the spot! Even my 4 year old liked it and came back for more bites. I will say it felt a little pricey at approximately $14 for the sandwich alone, BUT it is delicious. Had lunch for the first time today at the Cheese Smith and what a pleasant surprise. Had one of the best sandwiches ever in the area, not your mother's typical cheese sandwich. I had the grilled cheese with barbecue and pickled onions , just fantastic. The fries with parmigiana cheese were fantastic also. The sandwiches are so large you can only eat a half, great meal to share. The only complaint takes a while to get your meal but well worth the wait time. I never really crave a grilled cheese but after seeing the photos online I knew I had to check this place out! We tried the Buffalo Baby and the Southern Charm which both were great. I loved adding the sauces to try out they were so good!! The fries were great and I enjoyed having some red wine with my grilled cheese. We split an order of Parmesan fries. I demolished half (or maybe a little more than half) of the fries before I even addressed my sandwich. They were thin and crispy and delicious. I guess I'm in the minority and didn't really enjoy this spot. My husband hands-down loves his. He got the one with the BBQ. I had the buffalo baby. I liked the buffalo part but the carrots, celery and ranch part of it was a little off putting to me. But that's just my personal opinion. I do want to return and try some other sandwiches. This is a nice little place situated in Wilmington's Cargo District. It's more modern-looking and aesthetically pleasing than other parts of Wilmington, so it reminded me of a Los Angeles type of eatery. I got the OG (grilled cheese with jam) and it was so good! They make them nice and melty here. I also got a Maple Bacon grilled cheese, just as good, if not better. Tomato soup by itself was mediocre, but better as a dipping soup with the sandwiches. The Brussel sprouts can be hit or miss - sometimes they're really good and crispy - other times they're greasy and soggy. The wait can be long though - sometimes 20-30 min to get your food. I tried the cheesesteak and it was incredible. My mother in law had their turkey sandwich, no turkey, and loved it. She said the banana pudding was delicious too.
