Just wanted to update this review to say that Cheese N Stuff continues to be awesome. I stopped by here on Saturday (yes, Cal Day!) and got a delicious "deluxe" sandwich (mayo, mustard, tomatoes, pickles, lettuce, sprouts) on their delicious Dutch Crunch bread. I got salami but the pastrami looked delicious too and my friend who got their chicken panini was very pleased. The vegetarian sandwich also looked delicious and they have some of the best Tabouli/tabbouleh I've ever had. Love this place! read more

This place is a great favorite of mine, so I figure I'll make it the subject of my first review. The sandwiches here are incredibly tasty. Whenever I'm in Berkeley, I make regular visits to this place (probably 3 times a week on average), and yet I still look forward to getting my roast beef and cheddar on dutch crunch every time I go. The sandwiches might not fill you up completely, but at 3.50 a pop that's hardly an issue. The service is fast and the staff is friendly. If the owner, Sam, is there, he'll be running the register and conversing with customers. If you're very lucky he might even make your sandwich for you. I always spring the extra 25cents for the deluxe sandwich, which includes lettuce, tomato, onion, and sprout, and if I am feeling super decadent I will get the "Turkey Delight" sandwich. The Turkey Delight is tender roasted turkey (not deli style), cranberry sauce, avocado!, lettuce, tomato, etc. They have a great selection of chips and drinks, and the side salads are quite yummy as well. I finally fulfilled my long-time desire to try the famous Cheese 'n Stuff and got the deluxe falafel wrap today for only $3.95 (minus $0.50 with the berkeleygoodlife.com coupon.) Is this place related to The Coffee Spot? They are very similar, and both popular because of their large and very cheap meals. There was a long line after class let out at 12:30pm, but it moved fast. They only have to assemble simple sandwiches, after all--the meats and fixings are laid out in front in a glass cabinet. Some of the ingredients looked a little old and unappetizing, but I certainly would not go expecting a gourmet sandwich, and definitely got what I paid for! The falafel sandwich provided lunch and dinner, which makes for two ridiculously cheap meals . The homemade hummus was interestingly very nutty, and I daresay I tasted a hint of peanut butter, which is weird and probably just me. The only disappointment was that it did not include cucumbers. I guess I just assumed the regular mediterranean side veggies. It is sweet that there are so many regulars that are friendly with the owner. Tried this place for the first time after seeing it on a "top college-town sandwich shops" list. I ordered the Turkey Delight which is a legit turkey sandwich with hand-carved meat. No thin, deli cut stuff in this one! The turkey was warm and contrasted nicely with the crispness of the lettuce, tomato, and cranberry sauce. They were out of dutch crunch in the afternoon but the french roll was fresh so no big deal. The sandwich altogether came out under $5 and was very filling which is a great combo. My only gripe is that this sandwich is a bit messy and required a bunch of napkins so not the best sandwich to take on the go. The pepper turkey is incredible, they have a good selection of fresh veggies (sprouts are often underappreciated when it comes to sandwiches) alongside homemade salad sides, and most importantly, it's cheap. I can get a lunch for less than 5 dollars with more flavor and character than a subway 6-inch. The only thing holding it back is that the bread is sometimes on the stale side/difficult to chew, but the value and the pepper turkey is so so so good that it more than makes up for that weakness. read more

Our club decided to get catering from them and we ordered a variety of sandwiches including Roast Beef, Turkey Delight, Vegetarian, Pastrami, and Ham.
