    Santa Fe Spinach Dip

Came to Cheddars in Sugar Land looking for an inexpensive late Friday night dinner. This Cheddars looks fairly new and in a nice area. The inside was pretty typical of what I've come to expect of most Cheddars, with a bar area, fish tank, and dinning area. For those unfamiliar, it is definitely a more casual restaurant so don't expect white table cloths and candle lit dinners. However, it is nice and adequately clean enough to enjoy lunch or dinner. We got there around 9pm and it was still pretty busy with multiple big parties, however, we were seated without a wait. While we did have a waiter, our table also had a tablet where you can order items of their menu to add to your tab as well. We only used the tablet to checkout however, which was convenient to do at our own leisure. The food came out pretty quickly which was nice. We started with their famous Honey Butter Croissants and their Sante Fe Spinach Dip. Both were 10/10 and a must anytime I go to Cheddars. I didn't get any alcohol this time, though I know they tend to have good cocktails. I opted for a Strawberry Lemonade which was sweet, but good. I also liked that it gets free refills. For my entree I had the New Orleans Pasta and it was pretty good, though I may have had slightly better ones in the past. Of note, the pasta also came with the choice of garlic bread or Texas toast; I chose garlic bread, but it came out after my pasta. I will say all in all the pasta was a decent portion size and I had to take half of it to-go. Overall, Cheddars offers good food at an even better value. I'm pleasantly amazed that their prices haven't increased that much over the years, making it still a very affordable night out for dinner (spent less than $60 for two people). I'd definitely recommend for a casual dining experience and I would come back to this location in the future.

We decided to come here on our way home from Houston. It's a family style restaurant. Kind of reminds me of Chili's. The service was amazing. Quick and efficient. Now let's get to the food. The honey butter croissants?! Life giving okay! I would sacrifice all my carbs on those things! One of us got the smokehouse burger. She was not a fan. Another from our party got the grilled shrimp Alfredo. She said it was a little bland but salt helped. I was able to taste the Caesar pasta salad, the flavor was fire!!! Personally, I got the fall off the plate baby back ribs with loaded mashed potatoes and a side Caesar salad. Salad was standard. Potatoes were nice and thick which is how I like them. The ribs were the star! Literally falling off the bone! No need to cut them. So good. If you haven't been, try them out.

Love me some cheddars. Tastes the same as I remember. Fried chicken with gravy with broccoli cheddar casserole still smackssss. Butter honey croissants heavenly. And the sampler platter was so much and filled me up.

This is my first time at Cheddar's and it was delicious. I have always heard about their croissant, but never had a chance to try it. Man did it not disappoint. It was so flakey, buttery, and the sweet drizzle completed it. We got their Wisconsin cheese bites, chicken tender and ribs, and chicken pot pie. It was so delicious. The crunch on the Wisconsin cheese bites and chicken tenders was amazing. In addition, with the ranch it paired so well. The ribs were amazing and fell right off the bone.

For us Cheddars is a welcome retreat into comfort food. Their spinach artichoke dip is fantastic. I have had food from several of their locations and the only times I have had bad service is when management overloads the servers and kitchen with waiting clientele. They do this during peak meal times which degrades the dining experience. If you are dieting this is not where you want to be. This restaurant is not afraid to use salt, sugar butter, flour or cheese. Entrees tend to be close or well over 1000 calories. So, those dieting beware. Combine that with an appetizer and a side your calories are gone for the day. To avoid this we often take large parts of the meal home for a second meal ( and at times a 3rd) Generally the service is by servers, not waiters, the servers are familiar with the menu and able to guide you through the selections. There is a bar which my significant other likes to take advantage of by ordering a Texas tea. She has never complained about the bar; although, I do understand it's not a full bar. She invariably gets the baby back ribs and shrimp. Her comments are that the deep fried shrimp and among the best she's ever had. The shrimp always are the first thing to go, and then will tackle the 2 or 3 of the baby back ribs; although the ribs are typically the item we take home for further meals. The ribs are first rate and would compete well with Truth BBQ or Roegals BBQ, two of well known and respected BBQs in Houston. I, on the other hand, have had most of the menu items. This is comfort food. Steaks are competitive to other places, fries are good, salads are also competitive, the forte appears to be the sandwiches, burgers and desserts. I have friends that go here just to only have the Monte Christo sandwich. However, I like the 1/2 lb cheese burgers with sautéed mushrooms. They also have bacon and smokehouse burger. No fresh jalapeños, but they have pickled ones. As a means to bring down the calorie count I usually take half the burger home and also get a side of sweet baby carrots instead of the fries. Don't get me wrong the fries and onion rings are delicious but calorically very expensive. On the menu, calories for each item are in the description which I truly enjoy. Knowing this allows you to plan and to know when to split and take home. The spinach artichoke dip is completely consumed. I often use a spoon to get to the remanets. Service for most of the Cheddars has been good to excellent with servers not waiters. If you have a question they typically have an answer for you and can guide you and make recommendations. For the best serve try to catch them early when they have just opened or late. Ambiance is a bit lacking, typically dark booths and tables that are comfortable enough with chairs. No pictures although a few of them had aquariums with colorful fish which was interesting, especially for the children. Most of them are the exactly the same inside and in the center is a raised ceiling that has a long horizontal paddle fan. The restaurants were clean, no insects flying around or on the tables. These restaurants are usually packed with substantial wait times at meal times. Again the best times to go are just after opening and close to closing when most patrons have left.

Seated quickly. Server was right there. Odd two other servers were sitting in our booth when we got there. Go sit in the back. I've been to cheddars maybe twice before. I know why. Menu is sort of limited if you are in any special diet. So for me. Low carb. Everything is breaded and fried, pasta etc. ok they have 6 steak options I had a sirloin. I could have had much better at outback Spinach and artichoke dip app was good. Drinks right out. Then sold and meals bam everything on the table at once. Not a fan and no need to rush. Steak was cooked good had good flavor a bit tough. Southern green beans were not southern. They were flat Italian green beans with no seasoning, onions bacon. They also weren't cooked all the way. That's what I was expecting. The broccoli cheese casserole was odd. Very thick and like warm. Not likely to be back.

Everyone knows, we're here for the rolls!!! We need the rolls everyday lol. Their rolls will brighten up your day. But those chicken wraps did not match those standards. They should probably do a different tortilla to wrap it in and do something different with the chicken. Only 2 halves were needed, not 4. I can do without ordering those again. The cheese curds were good though.

Also came with a biscuit and jam, which were average - the biscuit tasted like it might have been from a box or mix rather than scratch? But not sure. My friend got the Oliver's breakfast which was a large portion, and she also got a blueberry pancake, which was packed full of blueberries and had a nice crispy edge. She also ordered hot tea and got to choose her tea bag from a lovely box, which was a cute touch. The only thing I might say is that the owner was a bit brusque/gruff. I understand being businesslike and I know customers can be a pain in the food industry, but his attitude was just not very welcoming I suppose. Still a good experience overall though! Glad to see Oliver's is doing well!

It contains balsamic marinated mushrooms, bell peppers, onions, feta whip...all on what I think is an herb focaccia. This time, the balsamic was so prominent, I couldn't eat it. I would definitely come back to order that one. I think I'm gonna have to steer clear of the other, due to inconsistency

After 3+ years of searching for something that gives me that Atlanta-level comfort, I can finally say I've found a real contender in Mikki's Soul Food Cafe. This was my second visit, and I ordered the same thing both times--the meatloaf dinner over rice with green beans (and this time I added mac and cheese). That meatloaf? Listen... seasoned just right, tender, and covered in a rich gravy that leans slightly tomato-based without being overpowering. Poured over fluffy rice? Yeah... they knew exactly what they were doing. The first visit was a 10/10. The green beans were everything--well-seasoned, tender, with bacon and onions. It gave "somebody's grandma been cooking all morning." Now... this second visit? The green beans came in a little confused. I got more potatoes and bacon than actual beans. I'm talking hide-and-seek levels trying to find a green bean in there. Still flavorful, but the balance was off. And the mac and cheese? Not my ministry. It was very heavy--extra cheesy to the point where the texture and flavor just didn't land for me. I won't be ordering that again. Let's talk price real quick: $19.95 (2 sides) $23.95 (3 sides) At first, I paused. But once you see the portion size? You calm down real quick. These are generous plates, easily stretching into two meals. Now here's my biggest issue--and it matters: The to-go packaging needs help. That gravy on the meatloaf is delicious, but it's also very liquidy. When you order to-go (like I did for lunch), it spills out into the container and bag during transport. By the time I got back to work, my tray was covered in grease and gravy, and it made eating a whole situation. This could easily be fixed by putting the gravy in a separate, sealed container. Final Verdict: When Mikki's hits, it hits. This is some of the closest I've found to real Southern soul food in Houston. A little more consistency with sides and better to-go packaging would take them all the way over the top. Rating: 4.5 stars (9/10) 1/2 And yes--I'm coming back. Next time, I'm bringing my mom for Sunday dinner.
