I've been a bit quiet on the Yelp front since moving, but figured I'd take the time to send praises where necessary. This place has gone through quite a transformation in style and indeed service (I won't bore with history/how I know). We've visited a few times now since our move and each time have had a great experience. In the past, my wife's ordered the Monte Cristo and just loves it! I've ordered the steak as it's very reasonably priced and tastes amazing. We've been fortunate enough to dine outside of peak hours, so be aware it seems to get pretty busy on Friday evenings and weekends! But I would highly recommend a visit for those who haven't checked it out. It's an American Cuisine with a unique flair. The scratch kitchen concept really works for them! Followup on my original review - after the HORRIFIC service (waited for a server to greet us at our table while we watched other customers who came in after us getting their drinks and having their orders taken, got the manager, took almost 20 minutes for hamburgers and they were WRONG), I contacted Cheddar's corporate offices through their web site. Even though I provided both my cell and home phone numbers along with my e-mail address and asked to be contacted, after a month, I have still heard NOTHING. We will NOT be going back to Cheddars, and I'd recommend you avoid this place as well. They do business simply because they're on the way into Bass Pro, and it seems they care nothing for repeat customers. read more

We went to Cheddar's for lunch on my 32nd birthday. They sat us in the booth by the kitchen. There were many tables and booths open because we went around 11:30a.m. to make sure is wasn't busy. The host handed us two wet menus and walked quickly away. They were wet on the outside and inside, so we tried not to touch them. The service was great. We were sat in a section with a lovely girl who was training a very nice boy on his first day of serving. They asked questions, and they had answers to ours. They checked on us regularly, which was easy because we were right by the kitchen. I ordered the Chicken Pot Pie and my husband had the Shepard's Pie. Two standard dishes that shouldn't disappoint. My Pot Pie had a sickening sweet flavor, frozen carrots and peas. I had my husband try it and he noticed the same strange flavor. It tasted like they had defrosted heavy cream and added sugar. There were no other spices and no salt was added. The pastry was almost done on top. I was starving and tried to eat it but had to stop a couple bites in because I was getting sick. My husbands Shepard's Pie had standing grease on the plate. You could see the grease from the meat all over the plate. You expect a little flavor from the ground meat, however this was ridiculous.The mashed potatoes on top were alright if you ate the very top without hitting the grease from the meat. He got a few bites in and had to stop because it was upsetting his stomach. The decor is normal, it is clean except the menus. We won't be going back. I do not suggest it. read more

visiting Mo and tried it since I was staying close. The menu is nice with a nice variety and the prices are good. But I'm really over bad service and Cold food. I had Chicken tender snd fried shrimp with fries and the broc/rice casserole. The casserole was the only thing hot. Everything that was fried was Cold. Sat in the bar and that was a mistake. Service was horrible and the "bar atmosphere was ruined with two kids running around and a screaming baby at another table. Thankfully kids aren't allowed in the bar areas in AZ. Me and my wife eat at Cheddars a couple times a month. No more. 1. They changed the menu. Bland - no pics of nothing. 2. They raised the prices - and not just a little. 3. French fries with my club sandwich were ice cold and the ham was fatty. 4. Our waiter shorted us $10 when he returned with our change. All in all - a bad experience. I don't write reviews often or brag often but wow this places reviews are so undeserving! I took a chance coming here on the suggestion from my girlfriend and admittedly we went on a slower night, but that doesn't detract from the amazing service and food we got. First off our server Tanner was incredibly friendly, funny, very personable and an all around good person. He went from suggesting drinks to food to laughing about the silliest topics. It is not often that myself or my girlfriend tip over 20-25% but this kid deserved every bit of his 65% tip. The food was absolutely on point! I ordered the bourbon pork chop which was done to perfection! Slightly pink in the middle and so damn flavorful. We also each ordered the potato soup and that was so dang good. I hear this place has had inconsistencies lately but if you go, ask for Tanner, you WON'T be disappointed! read more

This was my first visit to this place. From what I could see, very few people here (from the Manager's to the staff) have any sense of urgency. My family and I waited to be seated for 35min...which usually isn't bad...however, the Managers and Staff would take 10-12 min + (yes, I timed it) to flip a table. There were 5 - 6 tables at all times that were open. All they had to do is have a little urgency, flip the tables and get people seated. I will say, when we finally got to our seat, our waitress (Norma) did a great job trying to get us served as quickly as possible. As cheap cuisine goes, Chedder's is pretty satisfactory for me and my family. For this type of dinning, price is a big factor, and Chedder's receives a star just for that. *Kids menu is kind of sparse, but often fewer choices here is better... and their chicken strips (a child's staple) are actually pretty good... not as processed as other Chedder's competitors. *Service was fine and the interior decor is nice and subdued, our waitress was decent and courteous. *The food, was actually surprisingly good. I enjoyed the Hawaiian Chicken sandwich and my wife enjoyed the Italian Chicken Ciabatta. One surprising thing was the appetizers. For $3.99 I would expect they portions to be too small for a family of four, but to my surprise the Spinach dip and onion ring towers were more than enough for us. Overall, Chedder's fits into our dinning habit as a cheap decent place to eat in order to not have to go to Applebees or other older played out franchises. You should know going on the weekend is never a good idea ALWAYS PACKED. You can wait up to 45mins or longer. The food has been decent and hot. I've only been here once and didn't know what to expect. This place is always busy every time I drove by, so I never stopped in. When I finally did, I ordered half of a Cheddar's Club and bowl of baked potato soup from their Ultimate Lunch Combos menu. The club was a typical club sandwich. The potato soup was amazing though! Totally unsatisfied with the managers ability to resolve an issue. We ordered a steak and a few chicken tender meals. After two attempts to cook the steak correctly it was still well done instead of medium well. After discussing this with the manager he told me he felt I was blaming him! After explaining to him that as the manager that's part of his role he still didn't seem to really care about my complaints. I will not be visiting this location again. Upon receiving the check for this meal he just took off the steak and partially charged us for the salad that was eaten. Manager even said "I shouldn't even be letting y'all take the steak home." Our server wasn't awful, I think the staff had to be weeded bc it took forever to get seated. We saw 9 open and clean tables but had a 20 minute wait. It took forever to get our bar drinks, our dishes were stacked up at the edge of our table for a good 15 minutes. It took 20 minutes just to get our check after we had finished our meal. We wanted dessert but with how long everything else took and the lack of urgency and being here for an hour and 25 minutes total, we decided to pass and get dessert elsewhere. read more

This place is a good bang for a buck. I've had several occasions where the service was bad, but only because they were understaffed. The times they messed up my food, they corrected it, and through in a discount or something. The Monte Christo, cornmeal catfish, the buffalo chicken wraps, and fish tacos are ALL delicious. Cheddar's has a wonderful atmosphere with slowly turning ceiling fans. Noise level is minimal and the wait staff is almost too eager in asking how everything is going. I was here about 9 months ago and (sounding like a heretic in a true Steak town), I had one of the best KC Strip steaks I've ever had. We went back about two months ago and I ordered the same steak again. It was not cooked to order (I like rare to low medium) and was tough and gritty. The wait staff wasn't as attentive. The waiter was great, he was on top of getting our drink and food orders! I know the waiters and waitresses don't cook the food but he got it out in a timely matter and it was great food! The one thing I have to complain about is that a table across from us and two tables down were playing their inappropriate music at a high volume. This is a family restaurant that we take our children to and I am not certain as to why they were not asked to turn it off. This made me want to leave because it interrupted what I was hoping to be a peaceful dinner. Three complaints from tonights experience. The 'big texas nachos' were ordered with beef. It was literally a bunch of tortilla chips covered in corn, cheese, a hint of bbq sauce and about a tablespoon of meat. Didn't send it back because it took nearly an hour to get it to us in the first place and by then, we were pretty hungry. Somehow, they were out of one of their bigger sellers. The Monte Cristo. How does that even happen? Also, we could hear somebody pretending to be Gordon Ramsey in the back screaming at staff. Want to make your patrons anxious? Scream at your staff... Smart. We had yet another wonderful experience at Cheddar's Restaurant! Our waiter was so friendly and accommodating and he anticipated our needs before we even had to ask. Our drinks were refilled regularly, and he even offered us to-go drinks as we were finishing. When I was undecided on a salad dressing he offered to put it on the side and that if I didn't like it he could get another. He even had me try it before he left our table. Even though my husband and I only ordered the lunch combos, everything was a very nice proportion and we didn't leave hungry. The salads were chopped well enough that I did not have to cut the lettuce, and my baked potato was cooked to a perfect tenderness. This place is not pricey at all and they have a great selection of items. I cannot recommend Cheddar's enough! They offer classy dining in a beautiful setting at an affordable price! read more

The service was terrible at this location. After a 20 minute wait to be seated our appetizers never arrived and the meal came only after we got up to find the manager over an hour later. Ridiculous wait and really no sympathy from the staff. The manager complimented us one meal but at this point we weren't I interested. When my husband went to the bathroom a waitress ran into him actually hitting him in the head with her face. The food she was carrying spilled out of the bowl and onto his jacket. Multiple Bad Experiences! Every time I visit Cheeders in Independence, MO the service is horrible and my food is always served cold. Another issue I encountered was sitting in the booths. The tables are too high while sitting in the booths which makes eating somewhat of a challenge. I couldnt believe my experiemce here. It was no wait for a change, but it took our waitress at least 10 minites to show up to even take pur drink order. At which point we were ready to order our meal too. I ordered the buffalo chicken wrap. I have never had something from a restaurant so poorly done. There were two wraps from what i could tell, but neother of them had much filoing in them. Each side was only two bites worth of food then 4 inches of empty tortilla. The second wrap was as bad filling wise and wasnt even wrapped well enough to discern it was a wrap at all. Nor was it cut all the way in half. When sending it back, the manager acknowledged it should have never left the kitchen like that. And that they had a new person on the line in the kitchen that made it. But on a slow night like this there is no reason there shouldnt be someone watching that new person the entire time to ensire theyre getting things right. I have difficulty figuring out how anyone could think that wrap was right. Let alone someone that supposedly makes food for a living. I wont ever be coming back. Thats for sure. read more

And let me tell you - it was horrible. They put a group of 8 into two separate booths first of all.. which is very odd and rather a pain to socialize in.. after one of my friends talked to the manager, we finally order. At this point, it's been about 45 minutes since we got there. Our order is put in, we chat and are having a laugh - an hour goes by, no food. When we finally get our food, its probably about an hour and half later, maybe 2 hours. One dinner is cold. Two dinners are missing things. At this point, I dont give a **** and wanna get home. What a joke! The 2.5 stars says it all. Ordered the sirloin steak with chicken strips, "loaded" baked potato, and mac and cheese. Started with Wisconsin cheese bites, which were good, and were served with marinara sauce, the best part of the meal. My date ordered a smokehouse burger, which ended up on the floor a couple feet away from our table, when the plate fell from the servers shoulder. One of my chicken strips ended up there too, along with the rest of my honey mustard dipping sauce that didn't go into my mac and cheese. Steak had a gamey flavor (old and/or frozen), baked potato was cooked approximately two hours too long (or ten minutes too long in the microwave). The "loaded" potato was not loaded; we all know what that means: bacon, cheese, butter, chives, and sour cream. It came with cheese and crappy margarine. Chicken strips are dry as year old dogshit. Smokehouse burger was reordered after it fell on the floor, then came out undercooked. Didn't finish my meal or take it home in a box. Check came with no discount whatsoever but luckily a manager came to clear our plates and made it right on the check after I expressed my concerns. read more

Visited this restaurant on Thursday, June 19th at around 2 pm. Nice atmosphere and the service was ok. The food quality was poor in my opinion. Five of us in my party and three sent food back because it was not hot. The food was bland and lacked any real flavor. I personally ordered the Philly Cheesesteak and it had no flavor and the cheese was not melted. Looked like they slapped it on right before they brought it out. Not good at all. Two in my party ordered the catfish and said that it didn't taste like fish. Two in my party have been to other Cheddar's locations and were expecting the same food quality and service which wasn't what we got. For three in my party, it was their first experience and it they were not impressed. This experience will not stop me from visiting other Cheddar's locations, I just won't patronize this location if I come back to this area again. read more
