Absolutely love Cheddar's. All the food is delicious. Our favorites are ribs and shrimp. Chicken tenders. Chicken fried steak. Caesar salad. And of course the Monte Cristo sandwich. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The restaurant is always clean. And it's very cute. Love the bar area and the huge fish tank as well. Only drawback would be going at a popular time because it can get crowded and there is a wait. They make a mean burger too. read more

Went here for lunch to meet my new in-laws. The waiter couldn't have been worse!! Well, maybe he could have been worse but he was TERRIBLE! The stupid mask that they are making everyone wear made it almost impossible for my poor future father-in-law to hear and understand him. The waiter didn't even try to be helpful! It is always disappointing when my husband decides for the family to go to Cheddar's. We always get stuck with a new waiter/waitress. The broccoli cheese casserole was cold when I received it. I decided not to complain. When you have a new waitstaff, key things to remember: keep the water glass full and check on your customers more often. Our food was okay. But, the service will always be much more important than the food. If you stick a new person with customers, might be a good idea to stick a seasoned employee with them. 6/6/19 Lunch with the hubs. Arrived about 1pm so it wasn't too busy. Drinks arrived pretty quickly. We ordered an appetizer (spinach artichoke dip) and our lunch entrees. Hubs ordered salad and burger. I ordered soup and sandwich. The appetizer, salad and sandwich all came out at the same time-- usually appetizers arrive first followed by the entrees. Followed immediately by the burger. I waited 10 minutes and had to ask twice for my soup and extra napkins. I am absolutely traumatized after visiting Cheddars Scratch Kitchen in Garland off of President George Bush Hwy. I ordered the salmon entree with broccoli and it came with a side sauce of honey mustard dressing, after dipping my broccoli into the sauce I found a WORM hanging from my broccoli. Needless to say but I will NEVER be eating at any Cheddars restaurant again and do not recommend ANYONE else too. Cheddars prides itself in making their meals from scratch but when I asked the chef if my dressing was made from scratch he confirmed that it was not that their Honey Mustard dressing is in fact pre packaged. read more

I've only been here once and I only needed to come here once. There was nothing wrong with the food, that's why the rating is a three and not a two. The food is okay, it's not great. I certainly had better. I have always wondered what a Sherpard's Pie was and thanks to this place, I got to know. But it wan't what I thought it was be. There was no pie, or pie crust(?). There were just grounded beef, with peas, etc. mixed into it, garnished with some sort of fried crust... Thing. I don't even know how to describe it. It was filling and I fell into a food coma shortly afterward. The service: luckily, my friend and I had a nice waiter and was very helpful. Although, it did take awhile for us to receive a table. Not because they were busy, but because nobody was standing in the front to help us. Cleanness and interior: I did not feel clean at all sitting in the restaurant. I didn't really want to touch anything. From what I recall, I had to trade in my fork (That was already dirty) for a cleaner one. I don't know how the interior looked because it was dark. Most restaurants are dim/dark, but this one I kind of felt like I had to almost squint to read the menu and to see what I was eating... Please add more lighting. It'll help my poor eyesight. Cheddars is cheddars, kinda cheap, kinda good, nice size portions. We ate at the bar, which is always a great idea. Your close to the kitchen and bar. Btw our bartender Robert was great.. The broccoli casserole was once the staple of Cheddars. Not it's kinda dry with alot of crust. The green beans are under cooked but oh well. $45.00 for one appetizer, two full course meals, two alcoholic beverages. That's not to bad. I ate chicken tender and fried shrimp, two broccoli sides. I had to return one because it was room temperature and dry. We also had the pineapple salmon with a potato and Broccoli. Over all it was great for the price. I would recommend Cheddars to anyone with limited funds with a large appetite, ( teenagers)! The chocolate cake is big enough for 3, almost four people. The cookie is small, stay away. read more

Popped in for dinner after a quick search of where I could get some halfway healthy food near the hotel I am staying at. Had the service been outstanding, I'd have dished out that 5th star, because my meal was fantastic, and I believe was a great value. Had grilled tilapia and shrimp, with black beans and broccoli, and washed it all down with ice water. Tax, title, license $10.27 plus tip. Although there were only 4 or 5 shrimp, the flavor was amazing. And the tilapia was great too, it was very slightly blackened and also well seasoned. I almost broke down, they have some killer looking drinks available, the rum-packed "Painkiller" looked quite enticing, but maybe next time. When my man gets a hankering for a Monte Christio look out!!! Late lunch was needed and still had a 10-15 minute wait. We had good seating and great service. Drinks were kept freshened, food came out timely with all our extras. His Monte Christo was hot fresh and had plenty of raspberry jam to make him happy. 5 stars because this place is simply AS GOOD AS IT GETS!!! They have the BEST prices in town with delicious meals and AMAZING drinks!! I have been obsessed with Cheddar's for many years now and I find myself falling more in love with this place every time I come back! A few of my favorites are the legendary chicken strips, Baked Spasagna, Onion Rings, and the Buffalo Chicken Wrap! I have never tried a thing here I don't like. The portions are more than worth it and the dinner is a great quality dining experience! (a little secret delicious item on the menu is the buttered croissants... you should get them for an appetizer for only $2. They are to DIE for.) On top of YUMMY food, they really have the best drink prices you can't beat! I strongly recommend the Maui Margarita or the Renaissance Margarita!!! I can't get over how great of happy hour and drink specials they have daily! $2.95 pints, $3 wells... LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Bottom line is, Cheddar's has NEVER let me down. I eat here after going to the gym, reason being: the food is relatively healthy here if you order the right things, and it is very reasonable in terms of pricing. The service here, just depends on how busy they are. Sometimes I don't have to wait to get more water in my cup, and sometimes I have to wait until I get the check to ask for more water. During the day, this is not usually a problem, but it turns into one during the evening times. Food: Blacken tilapia w/ broccoli and homemade black beans - the tilapia was cooked really well, but the blackened seasoning was extremely salty. Some pieces of the broccoli are dry and some are very moist, giving them a very uneven texture. The broccoli is steamed, but you can definitely tell they put butter on them, making them taste more edible. The black beans, were essentially heated black beans with pico de gallo inside. I enjoy pico de gallo, so I'm not complaining, but in the general sense, it is just black beans with tomatoes and onions. -- In terms of the whole meal, it contains my carbs, proteins, fiber, and fats. We've eaten in this location since it opened years ago. Unfortunately since it has sold and is run by new corporate management, the quality of the food has drastically declined. Today, I was with a party of four. Two of us ordered the potato soup. I noticed when it arrived , it was a strange color. The color was a light brown shade, and it was extra, extra thick. The taste was slightly off, also. We sent it back, and replaced it with the tortilla soup. No manager came by our table to speak about the soup. In fact, we didn't see a manager make the rounds ever. I'm sorry Cheddars is declining. It was always our go-to spot for a consistently good meal. Not anymore. The catfish is off the menu , replaced with a fish the waiter can't name, but says it's the same as catfish. Uh, no it's not! The batter on the fried chicken tenders is changed. Not as fluffy or tasty. And where are the delicious cooked carrots? Gone! I think corporate is making too many " cost cutting" changes and it's ruining the quality of food. What a shame. read more

We came in after a graduation around 10:40 pm with a party of 11. They were fairly busy, but not packed. My main compliant with the experience was it took 30 minutes to be seated and we were told it would only be a minute for them to clear a table for us. Multiple times we asked about the wait time and each time they said they were cleaning the table and it would only be a minute but we still had to wait 30 minutes for a table. (Let me preface by saying I understand we had a large party, but we would have a appreciated a more accurate wait time estimate). Also, multiple parties of 9 were sat before us when they just walked in and asked for a table. The food was excellent and the wait staff was very attentive. I've never had a bad experience at Cheddars until last night. I met a friend who they had seated way in the back in an area that was pretty much empty. She already ordered a drink and appetizer but when our waiter came to take my drink order I asked if there were any Happy Hour specials. The young male waiter (new perhaps?) said the specials were only for customers seated at the bar, which seemed strange to me but I ordered an overpriced drink anyways. We place our order and my friend asked for bread with her entree'. We sit and we wait...and wait and wait when eventually the nice manager, I think that's who it was, tell us our order got lost and it's finally being prepared. I eventually excuse myself to the ladies room. When I returned the food was delivered, no bread. I asked for napkins and waited awhile. I order another drink as he gets rid of our empty glasses and when the new drinks came, guess what...? No straws. We waited again, probably 5 mins before he brought those. Took forever to get our bills once we were done, and even longer once we paid. It was ridiculous that we were there for 1 1/2 hours and the place wasn't super busy. As usual the food was good, but the service was pretty bad. The young guy was polite but slow or absent-minded. Good food made in house at amazing prices! The chicken pot pie is very good and the buffalo chicken tenders are delicious! They are lightly hand breaded in house and fried perfectly. They are tender with just the right amount of buffalo sauce and not soggy as I partially expected. Even the salmon, which I had pretty much zero expectations of at a chain place of this nature, was good. What? Really? Yes. Both times I have had it. And it was cheap. Everything I have had at Cheddars has been good. I can't believe I'm saying this. The entrees mentioned are my favorites though. As for sides, the French fries, Mac & cheese and green beans stand out. They also have a very good happy hour. Food and price are better than Chili's. I was so completely underwhelmed by this place that I will probably never go back. Last Saturday was my daughter's 5th birthday, and after her party, 12 of us met here for an early dinner. I had called and spoke to a guy who said a 5:30 reservation was fine and he'd let his manager know. We show up at 5:15 and I was told they don't accept reservations or call aheads. The lady I spoke with was very matter of fact about everything and offered no apologies. My mother in law finally asked to speak to the manager 30 min later and coincidentally the manager was the same lady at the front seating tables who I spoke to when I came in. So whether or not she was the actual manager I'm not sure... regardless, nothing got resolved. She spoke with me a few times and said they were waiting on tables to clear to get us seated but again - no empathy, no apologies, nothing. I was very upset but tend to avoid confrontation, so my husband spoke with the manager again and she finally said she'd comp a few appetizers for the group. When we finally were seated almost an hour later, the "comped apps" were two baskets of chips and two single serve portions of queso. FOR TWELVE PEOPLE. At that point I was just ready to get the dinner over with and leave. The only reason why I gave this place more than one star is because the two servers assigned to us did a really great job. They were very efficient and always kept glasses full. However the lack of organization, the managers behavior, and the slap in the face appetizer "comp" is enough to keep me from ever going back. read more

To begin, the front hosts tried seating us very close to 5 other families and there was no social distancing. We asked to be moved booths but the hosts were upset and just sat us at a booth that was extremely wet of who knows what and the menus were disgusting. The menus had old spinach on it. When I asked for a manager this lady comes to the table and does not give her name just says hello i am the manager. Wendy the manager was very rude. She didn't show any concern for what we experienced thus far. The food was incorrect. I ordered two crispy and two grilled wraps but received one crispy and 3 grilled.
