I wish I could give no stars. I wrote a longer review on urbanspoon. Basically there was a NASTY smell of rotten beer and fetid alcohol in the bar, the service was non-existent, fingers were in our food as it was served, my plate was mashed potatoes served on top of a pile of grease (supposed to be shepherd's pie), and the manager was arrogant and could have cared less. Don't let all of the negatives deter you from trying this place. The prices were great, the food was very good (get the onion ring app to share!), the restaurant and bathrooms were clean. There is one small area near the bar, on the way to the restrooms, that smells...like a bar - we think it is a vent issue. Our servers were attentive and the restaurant was busy. read more

Terrible dining experience. The only saving grace was management dramatically reducing our bill for enduring inept service. 30+ minute wait for drink refills and 2 1/2 hours from being seated to receiving the bill is entirely unacceptable. We called in ahead of time and they said they are no longer taking reservations with Covid, which I understand so we stopped and they said 15 to 20 minute wait they would text us whenever it is ready. We come in 45 minutes later because we still receive no text in the hostess says that the message was sent why they didn't call us after so long is beyond me. Then we sit down our waiter doesn't immediately greet us so we're sitting there for a little while and then once he brings our drinks we get no straws, our fries had very little cheese on them and tasted like they were from this morning. Or salmon tasted like it was fresh out of the sea, and I got my steak medium rare and I'm a huge steak person but the steak was purple inside to the point where it was getting cold way under Colt, not to mention our server never even checked on us until we were done eating our food and then we waited 15 minutes for our check. read more

The food and service has gone down considerably in the last several months. With a ton of places in the area in the same price range, cheddars is not at the top of my list for cheap food in Erie. read more

My boyfriend and I have been going to Cheddars for past 2+ years about once a month. Up until last 2 visits have been very pleased. Service was great, food even better..... 2 visits ago we ordered onion ring appietizer, lemon pepper white fish and burger. The onion rings took 20 mins to come out and then our meal came out 2 min later. Didn't even get to enjoy onion rings before meal came out. My fish was over cooked and was like rubber and blackened. Couldn't find server to send it back so I finally got a manager to take it back. While waiting for my meal to come back the server came up to ask if everything was ok and didn't even know I sent mine back. Manager never even came back to make sure everything was ok. Then we had out of town family and went again thinking it was just an off day...not the case. We ordered chips and queso which took 20 mins to come out and went through 3 helpings of chips while waiting about 45 min more on our meal to come out....which was not very good at all. My buffalo chicken wrap was hard, daughter alfredo sauce thick and cold and boyfriends burger was cold as well. Service was not great either...or good...saw waitress maybe 3 times in the 2 1/2 hours we were there....which most of that time was waiting on service and food. Not sure what has changed in the past cpl months but we will not be going back. read more

Cheddars is a good restaurant. Don't have any of them where I live. Used to be a constant place during college. 2 adults, 2 kids get dinners and drinks and all for less than $40. Value is there and portion size was there. Good food and decent service. Usually try to stay away from chains when traveling but don't see these often. read more

I was excited to see a Cheddars open in Erie. I had gone to one while stationed in TX. I was a little disappointed. I had ordered the Shepards Pie. They had run out of mashed potatoes and failed to let the wait staff know. Luckily my server noticed as the delivery was made. The manager came over and said I could order something else and my dinner would be free. I have to say they did make it right before I could even say anything. It was not a totally bad experience since they comped my dinner, but it was just average food quality. It was more of a sentimental reason for going since it was a halfway decent place a military person could go to cheaply. read more

Beautiful atmosphere, great food prices, great drinks, the food is okay and thewaiter was not the best at all. I had the Asian salad. It was served with a ginger dressing but, it was sweet with no ginger taste at all. The portion was good size but the chicken and shrimp would have been better warm. My husband had the Philly and it was good but needed sauce. The waiter only stopped once. He was nice but, a fake nice. I think it's the age. He had more of a burger king teen presence than a waiter who is knowledgeable, mature, knows food, knows how to check on tables, etc. read more

Waited thirty minutes for our waiter to come to our table and tell us that something happened and our food wasn't rung in. So I wasted my entire lunch there waiting for my CHIPS AND DIP that never came. I had to leave to go back to work before the appetizers were even out. No one checked on us. No one cared. read more

Like other "recent" reviews I found the Cheddars dining experience to be just fine. While visting family for the holidays we were looking for someplace warm and quick. I was concerned having read previous reviews of Erie's Cheddars. However, It was great. We were met at the door by friendly hosts, waited less time for a table than we were told and enjoyed a nice meal to boot. Around $50 for 4 of us including a shared appetizer. Not bad. Give this chain restaurant a chance. It looks like they may have had a tough open but, in this reviewers opinion, they've worked out the kinks. read more

Wow, dont go here if you are gluten free. Our server was so inattentive, so I made sure to stress GLUTEN FREE. Please tell them so we dont get sick, he assured us and treated me like I was stupid for questioning. I explained gluten free, no bread no croutons. Then everything came out with bread on the plate. Really? Do you know what gluten free means? You should. Your restaurant offers it, you said I didnt need to talk to anyone specifically to ensure we could eat safe. Not the best policy to treat people like they are stupid and then screw up the order. read more

We decided to try Cheddar's despite the poor reviews. Since its new the decor is nice and gives an upscale feel. Host and wait staff we very friendly and responsive. This was at 9pm so I can't say how fast they are for lunch or dinner rush. The food was just OK. The grilled tilapia and mango was prepared well and tasted good. The chicken and waffles were mediocre but everything is priced so low it's hard to complain. I would come back and probably try the cocktails next time. I wouldn't come back for the food. read more

One of my favorite chain restaurants in town. Truly cheddars does have a scratch kitchen. I would recommend their chicken fingers which are not fingers but a thick breast well coated with tempura. They offer cottage cheese french fries or coleslaw. Their homemade soups are excellent with great quality love the loaded potato. read more

ABSOLUTELY the worst service we have ever had. 12 of us had reservations,6 mins. before our waitress even greeted us. asked for our drink order, 8 min.s later received em, took appetizer order, got them in 5 mins.,finally came back to take our meal orders, almost 15 mins. later to get our food. will never go back, not worth the hassle/wait. food was not that great. so many other places to spend your money at in the area. read more

As many bad things as I've heard people say, I've never had bad service, bad food, or cold food. I love Cheddars. The decor is very nice. The Fish Tacos are uhhhmazing (the sauce they give you is wonderful!) The Monte Cristo is HUGE and delicious- a heart attack on your plate. Not to mention the ooey gooey spinach dip! Yum! read more

We usually stay away from chain restaurants, but it was Sunday, and choices in Erie at 5:00P.M are limited. We were seated promptly and greeted by Zach quickly, who answered questions accurately and pleasantly. My wife's drink was slow in coming while my coke was delivered first. Service overall was slow. We waited 15 more minutes for my wife's drink before it finally arrived. The food, chicken fingers and chicken fried steak, finally arrived after another 15 minutes. Their motto is made from scratch, so I guess that you have to be patient. We both agreed that our dishes were good and that we liked them. So, we'll probably be back sometime. The prices were reasonable. The bathroom hall and floors needed attention as paper was scattered around. Also the floorsin the restaurant neede some cleaning. That was surprising. We expected a cleaner environment. It seemed like a lot of kids were around, but that is not an excuse. read more

Food was absolutely amazing.... however the service... not so much. I went in with my mom and some friends and we sat at a booth in the bar area. Our server, Joshua, was rushing around so much that when it came time to order he barely let us get our words out. When I asked for him to bring us chips and queso to start out, he said yep and ran away. Came back, to take our order and when we explained how the checks were going to be split up, he basically blew me off and said it didn't matter because it was a table of 4, said very rudely. He took our orders and ran away again. He messed up a side order, probably because he wasn't paying attention. He never took any dishes away EVER. We still had our appetizer plate sitting on the table when we were done. Drinks were never refilled once and they were empty by mid-meal. When I asked to get dessert to go, he gave me a nasty look and sighed, and once again, ran away. He spilled a bottle of vodka on the floor at one point because he was rushing around so much. He never once asked if we needed anything throughout our stay. In the end, maybe you shouldn't be a bar tender and take tables on a busy night. Or at least Joshua shouldn't because it seemed like he couldn't handle it. read more

The food was ok. The waiter was horrible. Forgot our drink order, forgot the shrimp on the combo plate the salmon was cold and gelatinous u dear cooked, called my wife a guy, "hi guys!" Told us the reason for his bad service was because he had a bad day. We had to ask to have the table cleaned, it was filthy even after the bus boy cleaned it. The owners should think about using polyurethane on the raw wood table tops. Needless to say, we won't be back to this location! read more

Best place I've ever been too the best croissants I've ever had in my life! Their service was quick and friendly. Decor was beautiful if I could give this place more stars I would. I love the decorative fan in the center. I always ate perfectly cooked food never cold or disgusting. It was very inexpensive for such a nice restaurant. I would eat here everyday if I could. Me and my girlfriend went here and it was the worst experience I've had a restaurant. We were seated and the bill and etc. Was still sitting on the table. We waited at least 15 to 20 minutes for our waitress to introduce and ask for drinks by that time we knew what we wanted to eat. We finally got our food after a unreasonable amount of time and out food was cold to the touch not even Tommy temp warm and the chicken I couldn't even tear apart easily. We talk to a manager and he says it's on him, and he'll take care of it 5 minutes later we get our same exact food but just microwaved. The next morning I had food poisoning from the little food I ate there. Terrible service, terrible management, and terrible food. read more

I wondered why the parking lot was empty when every other place in town was bumping. Now I know. Our waitress was a frazzled mess and only had two tables. No one knew what section was theirs. She told us she could put a lime in a diet coke and that there was no GF menu- both lies. Got the chips and queso and she argued that it didn't come with salsa. Waited FOREVER for food. And when it got there the steak was on a bed of onion straws--- not gluten free. Chicken tenders had come without honey mustard and that took 30 minutes to come. The refire of the steak took an additional 20 minutes and the manager never came. Waitress was nice but overly friendly to the point of practically climbing in the booth with us. I've been to Cheddar's in Ohio before and I love the chain in general- great food and prices. And usually great service. read more
