First time here, first impression walking in wasn't good, the host didn't greet us just looked at us with an unpleasant look till we said "table for two". We ordered a variety of items from the menu, including a signature appetizer, pasta, salads, and sides, and overall the food was very underwhelming. Much of it tasted and looked like low-quality cafeteria food -- canned corn, dry salads, and subpar pasta. Nothing we tried stood out in a positive way. That said, our waitress was very kind, attentive, and responsive, which we appreciated. The atmosphere itself was fine -- busy for a Saturday night, with multiple managers present -- and we had about a 20-minute wait to be seated. Because of that wait and the overall presentation of the restaurant, we expected a much better dining experience. Ultimately, the service and atmosphere couldn't make up for the disappointing food. After the host sat us down we waited almost 15 min for a server to take our drink order because she said she didn't know we were there. Food was awesome! The waitress really went above and beyond! I wasn't sure what dressing I wanted and she brought me samples of all their dressing to try. I really thought that was very nice! Not outstanding but friendly.Not a four star as we waited forever after being seated for drinks. We waited and waited for our server. I finally hit the call switch on the Nintendo or that self service table kiosk and she finally arrived and took our drink and dinner order. No complaints in the food and staff were friendly but the whole experience didn't really exceed any expectations. They also left a lot of dirty tables unbussed with dishes just left on them. My wife's chicken and shrimp meal was cold to the touch and the side of steamed broccoli was RAW broccoli. My pasta bowl was room temp. Cheese bits as an appetizer were delicious but not hot. Overall feel was chain restaurant standard, comfortable booths typical decor. Extremely disappointed with management that was so gracious to take the dinners that we sent back with no reorder off our bill, no apologies (yes we got multiple from our service) from management no discount on appetizer. During my first visit here, we had a small 25 minute wait. My travel buddy and I didn't mind waiting. We were seated in about 20 minutes. Our waiter was wonderful. We asked him about his favorite items on the menu and he was thrilled to offer suggestions! 5/5 stars to him! For my dinner, I ordered the chicken tenders and shrimp with a side of garlic mashed potatoes and broccoli and rice casserole . Oh my goodness... it was delish. I ordered the casserole upon recommendation from our waiter... spot on recommendation. It was probably the best part of the meal. It was not busy, but the food (lunch) came out so fast that it must have all been pre-made and warmed in a microwave. So much for "scratch kitchen". I had fish and chips and my wife had the veggie Philly. The breading did not cover the fish, so it was extremely oily, had no seasoning and wasn't anywhere close to hot for as quickly as it arrived. The veggie Philly was a huge roll with almost no veggies. Both of our orders of fries were very limp and lukewarm at best. There must be better lunch spots than this. read more

This place was recommended by a friend, for its " homemade for scratch kitchen" concept. In the current COVID 19 pandemic, and PA indoor dining restrictions and just recently allowing dine in my mom and I decided to take a chance for the Fourth of July holiday. The hostess as we arrived, informed us that the wait was 20-25 minutes asked for my name and gave her my phone number. I thought it was a little strange they needed your number, but made no nevermind. We proceeded to sit outside on a larger rock, as there is no waiting in lobby to be called and there bar area was closed. The transition in waiting for our table went quickly and smooth my number was texted a message that indicated your table was ready. The tables and all staff followed recommended CDC guidelines with masks and social distancing. All their menus were paper and throw away. Cheddars offers dine in and take out. Jake, was our waiter who was phenomenal with making us feel comfortable as it was our first visit to the restaurant. Had the ribeye which I ordered it medium and was cooked perfectly. My man ordered his steak medium rare and it was closer to blue rare which wasn't too good. Appetizer chips and queso was good, but there was some salsa on the plate as well that was bland and super watery. No flavor whatsoever, would not recommend the chips &queso. Fairly priced. When we passed it during a recent visit to Erie, decided to try it. Did all the great reviews really "scratch" the surface of just how good this place was? Companion thoroughly enjoyed their lunch deal of fried chicken sandwich, upgraded the standard side of fries to house salad w/honey mustard dressing- yum. I had the chicken tenders platter that offers 2 sides. The broccoli rice casserole was okay, but the tender, crispy coated tenders were up there with the best I've had! Rather than having the chicken tossed, I had the hot honey sauce on the side. They provided a generous amount of this sauce; it packed some heat and was so tasty. I was also impressed by how clean the public restroom was, considering a bus load of tourists had just left. The loaded cheese fries were served cold with very runny drippy ranch that was warm. The mac'n'cheese was also cold and very drippy lacking much flavor other than starch.
