This best eating out experience since we began our vacation on Sunday. Mark, our server, was on top of things. I ordered the country fried steak, mashed potatoes, cheesy rice and broccoli, and a side salad. All of it was absolutely delicious! Mom ordered a steak and baked potato. A busy Saturday night delivered possibly the weirdest and worst restaurant experience I've ever had! The hostess took us to the middle of a huge party. She literally had to wait for some of the kids to move out of the booth she sat us in. She did not clean the sticky tabletop, and it stank of cigarettes. I mentioned both, and asked for a different table. She said no! The waitress came by and I again said that we were in a dirty table. Instead of cleaning the table, she got flustered, went for the hostess, who told us there was now a wait. I told the hostess this was really weird behavior, and we'd try elsewhere. I usually love cheddars but what is this salt shaker wasn't pouring so i opened the thing and there was this brown stuff caked to the lid of the shaker and in the top of the salt too. I was planning on bringing the rest home, but I left my "leftovers". My sister who never finishes her plate. Devoured the salmon. Service was good. We were seated by the restrooms. We asked to be moved because the cleaner that was used smelled throughout the entrance and by the booths. Would I go again? It's a possibility. read more

We visited Cheddar's in Corpus Christi last night . We were seated quickly--within three minutes--which we appreciated, but unfortunately, the service went downhill from there. We arrived around 6:30 PM and waited about 10 minutes with no drink order taken. I went to the bar and politely asked if someone could help us but was brushed off. Our drinks finally arrived about 10 minutes after we ordered. Our food didn't hit the table until about 7:15 PM--and when it did, my steak, baked potato, and broccoli were cold. I handed the plate back and told the server they could keep it. To his credit, he apologized and said, "This happens all the time." My wife and grandson had their meals packed to go. The restaurant did remove my plate from the bill. The manager came over, and I calmly explained the timeline and the service issues. It seemed clear they were understaffed, which I can understand, but the staff attitude and cold food made for a bad experience. As for the ambiance--the restaurant was clean, and nothing was broken or run down. What's unfortunate is that the food looked like it could've been great if it had been hot. This review isn't meant to be harsh--just honest. We were hoping for a nice family dinner and ended up disappointed. Hopefully management can address the ongoing issues. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. This was hands-down the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. We went to Cheddar's around 9pm for late appetizers and drinks with friends, and got stuck with a horrible waiter--rude, careless, and downright disrespectful. I ordered the spinach artichoke dip that's supposed to come with salsa. The salsa never showed up, even after asking three times and it only came as we were already leaving. My friends had it worse. They ordered actual meals (ribs and a steak), but the food didn't come out until 10:54--literally six minutes before closing--so they had to take everything to go. One friend ordered a virgin mojito, and the bar made the wrong drink. When he pointed it out, instead of fixing it, they just shrugged and said they couldn't make it, but would take it off the bill (as if that was a favor--he never got a drink at all!). I can understand the kitchen being a bit slow late at night, but this was ridiculous. Everything was wrong, everything took forever, and the waiter simply did not care. He ignored me when I spoke and only addressed my husband, which was flat-out disrespectful on top of everything else. I've been to many Cheddar's locations back home and always had great experiences. Interesting experience. Ordered the combo shrimp and 6 ounce sirloin. I asked for a side salad and the waitress was trying to down play the salad to the point that I almost didn't get it. Sir it only has carrot, tomato and cheese on it do you really want it? Kinda strange! Ordered the steak med rare and it came out cold in the middle. Not usually one to send food back but had to this time. I had to load my steak onto another plate she brought out and then ate all the other stuff on my plate. By the time my steak came out it I was done with my sides and shrimp. Not exactly how I wanted to eat after along flight into Houston and then a 3.5 hour drive down here. Disappointing. Nothing gets me nostalgic quite like going to chain restaurants I frequented when I was younger. And Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen ("Cheddars") is one that most certainly personified much of my youth. They actually offer a quality range of American comfort foods combined with really decent prices, which is probably why I came here so much back in the day. And, if I'm being completely honest, it was really because of their bomb-ass chicken tenders and honey butter biscuits! The layout at every single location is exactly the same, with this location being no exception, right down to the large aquarium that divides the main dining area from the bar dining area. It's actually a really nice restaurant atmosphere. As I have matured, and so has my palette, it turns out their menu remains accommodative. They have a nice section of it dedicated to grilled meats and steak entrees, and they execute in that area very well! The only thing I have left to add is that I have always experienced great service at this location, so they are doing something right here. read more

I don't like leaving a one star review, but here I am. My sister and I came in excited for a nice dinner on a Friday night. We ordered appetizers and they were ok. Chips and queso and a Caesar salad, no problem. One hour later, our food finally arrives. Mind you, all the other tables around us were receiving their food, even those who arrived after us. Our server was at least courteous enough to apologize throughout our wait and keep us updated on the progress of the food. No blame goes to him because he has no control over what goes on in the kitchen. The manager shows up right before we pay and leave and doesn't really seem to care or be apologetic for the long wait. I asked him to remove the appetizer and we would be on our way. He obliged, but no "Sorry for the inconvenience" or anything of the sort. Absolutely the worst establishment ever! We called a day in advance to make a reservation for a large party of 18. Despite this, when we arrived, we were told there would still be a 45-minute to an hour wait. It ended up taking a full hour before we were finally seated. Immediately upon entering, we noticed a terrible smell--like dog feces and mold. On top of that, it was unbearably hot, to the point that we were sweating. When we asked our waitress about the temperature, she informed us that the AC was broken and that the manager claimed turning it on would make a loud noise. We told them we didn't mind the noise and asked for it to be turned on, which they eventually did. The service was painfully slow. It took 30 to 40 minutes just to receive our drinks. Our waitress was clearly doing her best, juggling multiple tables, but it was obvious she was overwhelmed. When our food finally arrived an hour later, almost all of it was ice cold--except for three plates. My steamed broccoli was so cold that it still had a freezer smell. It was inedible, so I asked them to remove it from the bill. We called the manager over, but instead of addressing the issues professionally, he seemed completely uninterested--almost as if we were inconveniencing him. He didn't apologize once. While we were speaking with him, we overheard another table complaining about their food being cold as well. I pointed out that instead of serving dishes hot as they were ready, the kitchen was clearly letting them sit until all 18 plates were done. The manager's response? A dismissive, "Oh, that's a good suggestion." To make matters worse, as we were leaving, we overheard a third table complaining about cold food. Then, outside in the parking lot, my partner threw up from the meal. This experience was unacceptable. The food was awful, the management was dismissive, and the conditions were unsanitary. I feel bad for the staff, who were clearly struggling, but the management and owner need to do better. Honestly, the health department should inspect this place immediately. Should have turned around as soon as the smell of sewer met us as we walked in. Stood at the host stand for several minutes waiting for the host who, after noticing us, slowly walked over to seat us. I will say our server, Miranda, was very friendly so the two stars are for her alone. The burger was not seasoned, the ribs were charred on the top (they do call them fall-off-the-plate instead of bone so I guess they're aware) and the fries had no seasoning either. The stench of the bathroom is overwhelming. Makes me wonder if the managers suffer from loss of taste and smell due to Covid. read more

Disappointed on their Filet mignon steak. We love their food selection array, especially the grilled pork chops. The service is always great, from the welcome, seating and atmosphere. However, today was a disappointment because my wife ordered the filet steak and it had to be sent back 3 times to achieve medium rare. The manager handled the second and third time. Stopped in after a long day of driving for a good steak dinner. Been to a few other cheddar's in the past, with some really good meal. I ordered my steak medium and when the waitress brought our entrée out my steak, had blood coming out of the top of it. I sent it back and and when it came back out it was well done. It still had decent flavor. The waitress was very nice and apologized for the steak not coming out cooked correctly. Also, not a fan of ringing yourself out on the table credit card machines. Awful experience! We had been here many times before and it was always so good. The food the service all of it. We'll this time not so much so. We had to deal with a very in experienced young gal. We waited almost 10 minutes before being greeted. We ordered a appetizer through the doo hickey on the table. It showed up 10 minutes later or more. We had sat at that table for 43 minutes and still had not received our food. The waitress at one point asked if we needed anything and then proceeded to say she had to use the bathroom really badly and literally bouncing up and down like a little girl. It was bad. I had to go find the manager and tell her the issue. The food came out in her hand and my plate was missing the sauce on the salmon. We got it too go at this point. It was going down hill fast. Started off bad...the hostess sat us down at a dirty table, shiny stains and even garbage at the end of the table. Most tables are not able to be sat at... probably for COVID reasons and that's fine, but with the place not being busy and it seems that half of the tables are not even being used, yet there are dirty dishes on plenty of tables. Also our server seemed inexperienced and not trained so it was a tad bit frustrating when she disappeared every five seconds to ask the manager a question.
