I rate this restaurant less then one star! We arrived today around noon hour to eat lunch, we asked if they were serving outside on patio and they said yes. The host told us to sit anywhere we liked. There were no other guest outside as it was warm but a nice breeze. We waited for 15 minutes and no one came out to check on us, my husband went inside to inquire where server was. The waitress came out and gave us menus and 2 straws even though water or drinks had not been served. She responded with comment of she wasn't aware we were out there on patio. We gave drink order along with appetizer and waited 20 minutes without receiving drinks. We left and were pissed at the poor service. They were not busy at all, lots of open seating inside and out, the parking lot was not full either. We decided to go to O'Charlies where the service is always above and beyond. We will never go back again. When the waitress heard me complain about not getting our drinks, her response was the bartender was very busy, we ordered a bottle and draft beer and that's it. The service we received at Cheddars was very good. I had salmon, broccoli, baked potato and rice. It all tasted good at a very reasonable price. The atmosphere was comfortable and the noise level was not bad. Since, I can't decide between a 3 or 4 I will rate them a 3. Maybe, dessert would have pushed them over the top. read more

I went here tonight with some good friends. The place was packed! But we were seated in about 10-15 minutes, which was good enough for me! Our waitress was very friendly, and the food came in a timely manner. However, the menus were pretty dirty (it looked like there was some melted chocolate on mine...) The main reason of why I'm giving Cheddar's 3 stars instead of 4 or 5 is because of the menu options. When it comes to main courses, there are only 1 vegetarian option (as in, no meat AND no seafood). The veggie option was the vegetable plate (the item I ordered). The veggie plate came with a house salad or homemade soup (but both soups had meat in them so I went with the salad!) and 4 sides. Yes. FOUR sides, which sounded good! The salad also came with this amazing honey and butter-infused croissant---to die for; I highly recommend them. The four sides I ordered were: mac n cheese, mashed potatoes, butter corn, and the apple/yogurt medley. All four were filling, but they weren't anything I'd come back for! Lastly, my friends and I split the monster cookie: a large chocolate chip cookie with 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream, whip cream, hot fudge, nuts, and a cherry (also highly recommended!) Overall, the service was great and the food was alright, but the main course (salad and sides) wasn't anything that I could brag about! read more

Food was good. My son had the steak, accurately cooked to his liking, rare. I enjoyed the whitefish and ginger rice with a side of broccoli. Service was a little slow. Onion ring appetizer, always delicious, took at least 10 minutes to arrive. Overall, a good meal after a long drive and before settling down in our hotel. read more

Cheddar's was a great place to eat when it first opened but as of late I've found the dining experience disappointing. The food is sometimes great and other times sub par. I'm also starting to have an issue with the cleanliness of the place as the woman's bathroom is rather grimy! The stall doors are sticky. The booth seats have crumbs and sometimes I've had to wipe my table. The place needs a good and through cleaning from top to bottom. read more

I visited this Cheddars a few weeks after it opened. Upon arriving we were greeted by friendly hosts and told a very specific wait time. The turn around was very quick and within the window of time we were given. It was refreshing to be called for our table and have a host ready to seat us. I find it ridiculous that some restaurants say they are ready, but you wait 2-3 minutes for them to take you to your seats. That was not a problem here. A downside to this location is that there is a lack of space for waiting guests. People congregate around the door as usual, but when very busy, people move into the main dining area amongst the diners near the fish tank. I didn't enjoy feeling like I could offer a bite of my food to a waiting guest. Once we were seated we were greeted by our waitress very promptly; however, her attitude and demeanor came off very fake and so loud she could be heard 3-4 tables away. It put a damper on the experience to say the least. We ordered and our food arrived very quickly. The food was definitely a high point to our visit. Almost everything was hot, fresh, and tasty. The main portions were very large which is a good value for the money you will spend here. The amount of honey mustard that comes with the chicken fingers could be increased. They give you about a tablespoon of sauce for 4-5 large chicken strips. Another change that would be nice is the size of sides. Many items do not come with sides and they have to be purchased separately at $1.99 per side. On my visit I ordered "fresh corn" and received about 1/4 cup that tasted like canned, not fresh. If you are seated against the back wall in the main dining room you are placed in between two doors that lead to the kitchen. It is very loud due to the kitchen noise, but also employees rushing to and from the kitchen. On the two occasions I went here, it was evident that there was a large amount of wait staff that were just standing around, getting in the way, and talking in the dining room to a point of being annoying. On our second visit it appeared that there was a lack of bussers. This was known because every waiter/waitress that walked by our table was groaning and complaining about it. At one point the "apparently lone" busser was confronted by a waitress right next to us and many other tables. His reaction to being asked to speed up his business was to shout at the waitress "I can't go any faster, if you have a problem with it you can f'ing do it." At no point during both visits did I see or feel the presence of a manager. One of the biggest problems I have with this restaurant deals with sanitary practices. On my first visit I noticed a busser delivering an order of onion rings to a table. The onion rings here are plated in a tall tower formation. The busser was holding the tower up with his bare hand. There is no reason to touch food without a glove on if it has been cooked and being delivered to a guest. Another instance I witnessed was our waitress picked up dishes from a nearby table, came over to ours, sat it down, asked if we needed anything then left with the dishes still on our table. When this was brought to her attention she acted as if it wasn't a problem and just took them away without apologizing. On the second visit we were seated and the table we were given had been re set, but had never been wiped down. There were crumbs and sauce smears all over it. When I asked the waitress to wipe it down before we were seated she acted like it was a hassle and we had to stand by our table awkwardly for 3-4 minutes as she left and only returned when another waitress asked why were standing by the table. These sanitary problems only make me wonder what might be going on in the kitchen. In all, there is good (food), bad (service) and ugly (sanitation issues and lack of management presence). My review is not meant to bash this restaurant, but my hope is that someone in management there reads this and is able to fix some of the "fixable" problems I have mentioned. read more

We took guests from out of town to Cheddars tonight.....I was embarrassed that I even suggested it, and apologized profusely for a terrible evening! Our waitress took our drink order and we waited 10 minutes for water and cokes....another 12 minutes for my husband's ice tea order. We then ordered 2 appetizers, and was asked if we wanted meat on top of the cheese with chips. We said "NO", but got the meat anyway. She only brought 7 plates, but we had 8 people at the table. We had to flag down a different waitress for straws for our drinks, after asking our own waitress TWICE. Every sentence she uttered ended with us being called "honey" or "sweety" (31 times after we started to keep track! VERY annoying!!). My granddaughter ordered chicken from the children's menu and received a FULL adult size meal. My sister ordered GRILLED fish with rice, coleslaw and vegetable. (She needs gluten free meals and they do not have any such thing on the menu!). She received TWO small pieces of fish, and a few spoonfuls of corn only. When we suggested to the waitress that she brought a child sized portion to the adult, and an adult size portion to the child, she walked back to the kitchen and came back with a small bowl of rice. No apology or attempt to correct the meals. Also the fish was NOT grilled as requested, but breaded, so my sister was unable to eat it. My husband never received his salad that was ordered with his meal, and we had difficulty getting drink refills. Waitress passed our table THREE times and said she would bring them back, but they were not received. I ordered a COKE, and she attempted to give me ice-tea as a refill. We have enjoyed going here in the past as the food is wonderful and prices are reasonable. However, when you spend nearly $100 and the service is SO BAD that you cannot enjoy your meal without so much aggravation, it is not worth it. This is the FOURTH time since they have opened that we have received horrible customer service....we will NEVER go back! There are too many other options in Bloomington to spend our money in an establishment that treats customers so poorly. We commented to the hostess about the service on our way out, but she didn't really seem to care. I am HIGHLY disappointed. If you want good service, good food and good prices, we recommend you go elsewhere...not worth it here! :( read more

Went there at the dinner hour but with the I.U. graduation past, we were seated at the bar immediately. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger, wifey had chicken tenders dinner and requested baked potato and house salad instead of fries and slaw . Burger was wonderful, as the meat was not over seasoned. Came out piping hot too! Wifeys tenders were not over seasoned, cooked right and piping hot also. Salad standard but their Ranch dressing is awesome. All this and one NA drink for 21 bucks. Just got 2 different burgers. French fries are extra, which we got. But we got about 7 or 8 pieces of potato. They said they cook the meat medium well, or well. One of the burgers was pink inside, being more medium rare. All in all, it could have been better. read more

I have always loved the food at the Clarksville IN, site. We have gone there numerous times and absolutely loved the taste and the value. Thought we would give the Bloomington site atry and boy were we disappointed. Food is still good, but the service sucks. We have gone 4 different times now, and it has not gotten better. We went last night 1/13/14 at 8:00pm and were sitting within 15 minutes which was great. However, we ordered our drinks whick came out promptly, then ordered our food. My wife and I both ordered a salad with our entree. Salads came out and mine had a smashed crossant, so just as we took our first bite of our salad, the entree came out. And since we did not want our food to get cold, we sat our sald aside to eat, and by the time we got back to our salad, the bread was cold. So far, the Bloomington site as not batting a good average. I was super impressed especially for a chain! The service was quick, efficient, and nice. We had our kids with us and it was expedited well but we didn't feel rushed. I like the decor and the food was exactly what I hoped for. The breading on the cheese bites was lovely! And I think it's the same for the onion rings which I wish I would've ordered. I had the homemade chicken pot pie and it did taste homemade! Bloomington has a lot of great food options but this was great for a quick and yummy comfort food option! read more

Food has a great taste, good portion sizes, and reasonable prices. Sadly the wait staff and/or kitchen just isn't up to par as of yet. We have been several times and have always had some sort of problem with the service. Either slow service with no explanation or servers who don't seem interested in taking care of the customers. We have been to Cheddar's several time they have opened and the last trip prompted me to create an account and comment. I had the shrimp which was very good. But before the main course I found a very long hair in my salad WHILE I WAS EATING IT. Then when they brought our baked potatoes my husband and I both ordered with butter only, both had butter and sour cream. They offered to bring another salad and more potatoes, I declined the salad and the new potatoes were correct and good. This was our first visit the Bloomington restaurant because we had heard a few good things about the food. However, as soon as we arrived, it was very clear that the wait staff was overwhelmed. The employees all looked very young as well as the manager on duty. My wife and I were told our wait would be "21 to 26 minutes" ( I have no ideas how they young lady taking our name had arrived at those numbers). After 30 minutes of waiting, I was thinking about asking where we were on the wait list ( after so long our turn HAD to be next!), when a group of college girls came in a were seated right away. "OK," I thought, maybe they were meeting another party already there. But another college age girl came in (a black girl) and she asked or a table and was told to go to one that was getting cleared off. Now I don't care what color the young lady was or that she got a table. But when I am intentionally passed over so the waitress could seat her friends; it was too much for me. I got up and confronted the waitress for passing me and other people up. She had no valid excuse for her behavior. I was humiliated and angry at her behavior. Instead of making a scene I thought it was more prudent to leave. Bottom line for me is I will NEVER set foot in any of their facilities as long as this kind of behavior is common practice. **Stay away from Cheddar's in Bloomington unless you are female and black and your friends are working that night. Then you won't need to wait for a table like the rest of us working stiffs. read more

Awful service! Rude wait staff! Waited an hour and 45 minutes! Party was going on at the only large table that would accommodate our party. The people at the table were playing games and having a group meeting. Seeing how the place was packed we asked the wait staff to ask then, nicely, how long they would be. They said it was policy to not ask that and if I was to nicely ask and state our wait time then we would be asked to leave to building for bothering customers. The wait staff was not apologetic and was actually being rude! NEVER eat here. Super rude people and you will wait hours if you have a large group! My first time ever at one of these restaurants. It was busy, so some people must love it. We waited quite a while to be seated, then longer waiting on our food. I had a burger and fries which I thought would be pretty good. The name sort of suggests a burger joint. When our food arrived, my fries were the highlight of the meal. They were hot, plentiful and good (as fries can be good). The burger was large but the meat wasn't exactly hot and the inside was still pink somewhat which made me hope I didn't get e-coli for undercooked ground beef. Our waiter never really asked how our food was. He seemed busy, did refill our water glasses without saying much to us and zipped away. I suppose they serve plentiful portions for a reasonable price and maybe that is one of the things that made it seem to be popular. Maybe other dishes are great. To me, it was just so-so and I surely never would return for all that waiting around for just mediocre food. Once is enough. read more

I am rating this on my to-go order experience. Called in a to-go order tonight...was FLAT OUT REFUSED, told Cheddars doesn't do it.. When I asked why, Carson, the young woman who answered, stammered...a lot, before she managed to utter something about the location being new (it opened in February) and still having lots of training that needed to take place. She then told me I could come in, place order at bar and wait roughly 20mins.Now, I have been to this place multiple times since March, sometimes twice in a week, I have seen takeout orders fly out the door with customers, customers that came to hostess station inquiring where to pick up said orders...I found this bizarre. I can also attest that it takes FOREVER for your dine in order to arrive, however, the food has always been hot and good, so I have never complained. The very thought of how long I could have to wait for a walk in and place my order makes me cringe...20mins, that is laughable! The customer service was handled poorly tonight and with lackluster explanation. I will let you know what headquarters has to say in regards to my email about the to-go situation. read more

So my girlfriend and I decided to go out and try Cheddar's in Bloomington even though we had a bad experience previously at the one located in Avon, IN. We were promptly seated on a Saturday night which was a little surprising. The waitress took our drink order and the appetizer order but when she returned she informed us that they were out of the appetizer that we ordered (homemade onion rings). Come on the menu says they say they are home made so go to Kroger and pick up the ingredients!!! Anyway we decided to forgo the appetizer and order our entree. I decided on the New Orleans Pasta and my girlfriend ordered some type of buffalo wraps. After we ordered our waitress returned to our table with a smirk on her face and said "You are going to kill me. We are out of the New Orleans Pasta". Well this didn't really look good for them now since they were out of the second thing that I have ordered for that night. Either I am extremely unlucky or they lack the ingredients for the items on their menu. So disappointed with that news I reluctantly decided to try the Baked Spasagna. We received our meals promptly however the Baked Spasagna was not very impressive. It was basically spaghetti in the shape of a rectangle with bland sauce poured over it. (Not Impressed!). My girlfriend enjoyed her buffalo wrap but it was nothing to write home about. Also during our visit we were constantly out of our beverage with the waitress nowhere to be found. Anyways this is the second bad experience at two different Cheddars's so I think we can safety mark this place off of our list of places to eat on date night. read more
