    Strawberry Texas Frozen Swirl

Decided to try Cheddars on a Friday evening in February 2022 @8:00pm. The atmosphere in Cheddars is nice and our server was excellent! Unfortunately, the food was the worst part of our visit. I chose the grilled salmon dinner but learned the bed of rice has dairy, so I opted for the baked potato- which they were out of! Next Option: I chose to have a steak and French fries. I ordered my steak medium rare but was served well done and wasn't edible, unfortunately. I simply cut it and left it on the plate. My son enjoyed his cheese bites & chicken strips and I enjoyed the swirl. I'm leaving 3*'s due to management offering a refund of the steak and our awesome server!

This is by far one of the better chain restaurants in the good old US of A. I've eaten at many of them in a half dozen different states. They have scaled down their menu in 2020 (see my new photo). My favorite, the corn meal white fish, is still offered. And we were very glad that the red beans & rice side is back! I have always loved their regular lemonade because it is so tart. I order it every time! Since I crave Creole cooking, I had to try the Red Beans & Rice now that they brought it back. Fortunately for me it was not too spicy, as it should be. Cajun cooking is about flavor, not how many alarms it is. If you go to southern Louisiana you will notice the the food is generally not spicy and that there are many different brands of hot sauce on the table for you to doctor your food to your liking. One thing the new menu does not list is a lunch portion vs. dinner portion option. The Cornmeal White Fish now comes with 5 - 6 fillets. Every time I order them they come out perfectly cooked. The Cole slaw is good and not too "dry." Since I live in Brooklyn, it is much easier for me to drive to the Bloomington Cheddar's than the one in Avon. Using Hwy 67, the 39 By-Pass and I-69, I hit only 3 traffic lights and it only takes me 30 mins. Plus if you arrive at the height of the dinner hour rush, the wait times are MUCH shorter.

$4.79 TX Tea - yes, please

I'm not a big fan of chains, but they serve their place. This one is within walking distance of several hotels and right off the highway. If you have a Designated Driver, I highly recommend the Texas Tea! (their take on Long Island Iced Tea). Also, Every diner is served a warm croissant upon arrival - I'm not gonna lie, this is an extremely pleasant greeting. We were here for drinks and apps. The queso dip was nothing special, but a pleasant accompaniment to those tasty TX Teas. If you don't have the time or a car to drive to into town, this is a worthwhile stop.

    Wisconsin Cheese Bites

We had the Wisconsin cheese bites with ranch and I must say they are the best cheese bites I've had out of all restaurants I've tried. Not too thick but soft, edible, taste good.

Last minute decision to try a place I haven't eaten at before. The outside design with rock formations is intriguing so of course I had to. Staff was attentive and polite. The interior was fascinating with southwestern inspiration, fish tanks and a giant mechanical fan. As for the food, everything was fresh. The food was decent, but nothing to write home about. Flavors don't quite stand out and the menu seemed a bit bland. Reasonable parking space but you have to walk all the way around to the front of the restaurant, so the layout is a bit odd. Not terrible, but not amazing. A solid three stars.

Plenty of vegan and gluten free options! I've tried the vegan banh mi, vegan reuben, vegan brown sugar cookie, blondie, and Italian soda in lavender and vanilla. The marinated tofu used on both the banh mi sandwich and reuben is delicious. Lots of veggies on both of the sandwiches. The banh mi wasn't traditional - the mint and cilantro were more like a pesto instead of whole fresh herbs and the marinated tofu is a little different - but I really liked their take on it. Both desserts were really good, but in particular the gooey blondie with the flaked salt topping. I'm also grateful for the option to add cream to the Italian soda here - I love Italian cream soda but this is the first place I've been in a while that makes it. The atmosphere is very casual as you can place your order and pay at the counter and then seat yourself, but it's still nice and comfortable, and kept clean.

The chicken pot pie was a bit too sweet for my liking. Baked goods are pretty good. Their matcha (notoriously bitter) was surprisingly done well. Service is usually timely. We came at an intense Sunday brunch rush hour and they were good about letting us know that we were close to their max capacity so that we were more prepared for ordering. They have comfortable seating both indoor and outdoor.

I visited twice for a breakfast and a lunch. Lunch: I had a Black Russian sandwich and a pot of Emperor's Pride tea. The sandwich, which is a vegetarian version of a Reuben with roasted veggies instead of meat, was delicious. They really piled on the veggies. Some fell out of the sandwich, but I just ate them with the home fries. The home fries also were nicely seasoned. The tea was a little off. It's possible it was the tea itself that didn't taste how I expected, but it kind of tasted like I was getting the flavour of a different tea in the pot. Breakfast: Apple pancake and bouquet latte (seasonal special - lavender Ceylon tea latte with honey and rose syrup). The bouquet latte was wonderful and had this beautiful red swirl latte art. The pancake was nice and fluffy. One pancake is something like $5, but one is enough for a complete meal, maybe with a protein side if you're especially hungry. The staff is very friendly and makes you feel welcome. The food didn't take very long even though they seemed busy.

Son decided he wanted to go as he was craving breakfast for dinner, so off we went. Again, as always, was impressed and enjoy the quirky nature of the Spoon. RS is in an old house just off Kirkwood. A bunch of smaller rooms, plus a large outdoor dining patio out front. We got lucky with parking on the street pretty close to the restaurant (no real parking lot) and I would have preferred to eat outside but daughter got to the hostess first and we ended up indoors. Everyone ended up with breakfast choices. Wife had an omelette, said it was great. I had banana+granola pancakes (two) which was plenty. The flavor was great. Also eggs and toast. Son had the Kevin which is basically what I ordered but with French Toast. Daughter had a chocolate chip pancake which she enjoyed. Overall, great food and very reasonable. Service was on point and again the atmosphere is fun and quirky. Need to add to our regular rotation.

Long ago, Dats used to be Yats, but while retaining the Yats format, they changed. It's not quite as good as Yats in Indy but it's still pretty good. This is inside of a tiny market, and they serve Middle Eastern foods, too. We ordered Cajun, a Thai Chili ettouffe and another with spinach artichoke and crawdad etouffe. These are served over rice, and come with garlic bread. These had been simmering for a while but were still pretty flavorful. Unlike Yats, there aren't a selection of hot sauces, but they were pretty nicely-spiced. Warn them if you can't handle spice. You get a beverage from a cooler, and many are available. There are seats for about 25 or so inside, more outside. The price isn't high for this restaurant row. Parking on the street costs money, unless it's Sunday. It's low-key, reasonably good food and a wide variety of it. We'll be back to try the Middle Eastern items, like falafel. The store is somewhat tiny and caters to Middle Eastern and South Asian tastes, with a few Latin additions. It's like a bodega in some ways, perhaps Bloomington's version of a deli with seats and variety.
