We ended up hiring Ongaro & Sons and felt calmer the minute I called. Jeanne in the office was so professional and helpful. She set up a site visit right away. When Corbin arrived, his confidence, his abilities, and knowledge were impressive. He understood exactly what the cause was and the solution. Unfortunately, the remedy was a replacement panel $$$. We agreed. He knew about a recent change in PG&E's "Green Book" that would allow our panel to be installed in the original footprint but he explained that the new system would need to be grounded to water and gas. He immediately contacted PG&E and Town of Windsor to start permits and scheduling. Chad and Alex showed up on Monday morning at 7:30, ready to go. They professionally prepared the site for PG&E to turn off the power and then they got to work on removing all of the breakers and installing the new set of Eaton breakers. They used the crawl space under the house to run the grounding wiring and the work was completed by early afternoon. They left the site clean and did an excellent job of making a new wood frame for the panel. My drains had slowly been backing up and now I could hardly take a shower without my toilet bubbling. I appreciate that he took his time assessing my sewer line and answering my questions until I was fully convinced that replacement was the answer. We made a plan where my nephew and I would dig the trench and he would do the replacement. While digging we ran into a rusty corroded water line and a 'homeowner's DIY special' main waterline of pvc less than 12" under my lawn. I was unsure what I was seeing and how to handle it. Garreth being a local, was able to drop by and offer advice re my findings. In the end, he replaced my sewer and main water line and I also asked for a new shut off valve at the house as it had never worked (1946 house). I cannot wait to upload the pictures of my collapsed sewer line, along much of the span! Garreth has an attitude of service. No pressure, no selling--just solving your issue. Remon clearly explained what he was going to do to fix our drain blockages, provided a fair price, had the tools to do it, and explained the outcome. Lots of folks ready to charge and arm and a leg, and take advantage of short term need to inflate the costs, sometimes post facto, not Remon! Even when the actual work was more involved, took more time, he stuck by his number. WE had a stopped drain in our garage laundry area, the laundry tub would not drain, and the washing machine thus could not operate, so this was no small thing to get sorted! It had been a SLOW drain for years, we have lived here 12 years, and it finally said "enough", and could not drain fast enough to let the washing machine run a full cycle! I live in a house built in 1960, with various mods made to drains since by characters of unknown pedigree using methods lost to the dustbin of history, and get to live in this over 65 year old rather random house. Remon was able to get thru blockage, tub is draining faster than I have ever seen and even with that he said it might last a year, the clearance he could achieve was not large, and the union to the sewer line we heavily corroded and would need replacement in the next few years, but he hoped it would last longer, fingers crossed. So I am repaired, educated, and have some clarity on what will be necessary down the road, all for a super fair price. And THEN he fixed our bath tub drain, removed an inappropriate drain part, told us what was necessary for it to be set up correctly, and left on his plumber wings.
