Haven't been in awhile so went for a quick bite. It was disappointing. Ordered online. The real burger and the pic online not even close. It was dry. The burger smaller than the bun. After a late night out we were hungry for some comfort food. It's been a while since we had Checkers and decided to give it a try since it was one of the few options opened. We ordered their cheese champ combo which is their version of a single cheeseburger. The burger was well cooked topped with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and my fave red onions. Very tasty but my only complaint was the bun was too flat. The seasoned fries are very unique here but they were also good and went perfect with the burger. For dessert I ordered their apple pie which was dusted with cinnamon sugar which gave our meal a perfect sweet ending. read more

Recent trip to Miami. Friend recommended this place as he was a local and knew that this has a sister store of Rally's on the west coast. Not to many rally's left in San Diego. So I was excited to grab a bite. I got the #3 Baconzilla in a double with a combo. When I asked for ketchup they only gave me 2 packets of ketchup. I was going to ask for more, but didn't want to hassle them. The burger itself was ok. Nothing to rave or rant amount. The fries on the other hand were as good as I remembered them. Crispy exterior with soft interior and just the right amount of seasoning. Services was ok as well. Oh my God! What was I thinking when I placed my car in a line that had 5 cars before me? In all fairness, my husband tried to dissuade me from going through this wild request of mine, he even began to quickly shoot out names of other burger joints. I however, insistently told him that I had a huge craving for Checkers. Meanwhile, it has been at least 20 plus years since I had visited any of their restaurants. As I waited impatiently to order, I couldn't contain my excitement. When it was finally my turn, the man on the other side of the ordering board kept saying in a very hurried voice, "Okay, what else do you want?" This should have been my cue to just drive right out of the line and go somewhere else, instead, I completely ignored how he wanted to rush me and continued to order. The fries were fantastic, hot, crispy and pretty delicious! I was super happy I had gone against my husband's hesitation, however; once I opened my burger I wished I had listened to him. I don't even want to use words to describe their burger. Words would not justify the mushy, tasteless mess that I tried consuming. I then opened the box of Chicken Bites and found them simply awful. Thank God I had ordered the Classic Chocolate Shake because it was delicious! Took my family for fast food dinner treat and what a disappointment ! Ordered 2 cheese champ combos, 1 cheeseburger, 1 chicken bites and fries box, 2 cinnamon apple pies and 1 funnel cake fries with 2 chocolate shakes and 1 vanilla. A robot took the order and instead of 2 cheese champs gave us 1. The chicken bites were overcooked and hard and all the fries were old and cold. The funnel cake fries were soggy. The girls liked their shakes but the rest of the food went into the garbage at almost $40 ! Will not return. read more

I don't check into this place, even though it seems to become a part of my weekend plan. The nights that look at my watch and realize that midnight was a few hours ago, or when in the streets there are more virtuous morning people than the sinful night crawlers, I know it is time to get home, before that first ray of the sun brightens the sky. But that's when I realize that I need something solid in my stomach, some real food. And at those times, there is no place better than checkers. Unfortunately, it seems like dozens of my bestest friends always have the same idea and the drive-thru line is always backed up to the street or it snakes around the empty shpping center. But patiently I await my turn for those burgers, and better yet those fries. I am inclined to hand them my backpack one day and ask them to fill it up with fries, thank you. Yes , it's another fast food burger place. the difference is there sauce! Yummy Nice and different, delicious food. Don't know exactly what it is? But it tastes great. Their fries are season. They have great combos or 2 for $4 burgers. This location is a drive-thru only. Not dinning in. It's open till late. 3-5 am. Will have to wait in a long line cars. These are the only fast food fries worth of consumption sans sauce. The crunchy seasoned exterior coating on their French fries thats loaded with pepper and paprika always make a combo here worthwhile. Aside from their $1-$3 menu board, the strawberry soft serve cone is the perfect cool treat with that shortcake flavor that comes in a swirled form too. The checkerburger is my usual combo preference since it's the perfect size yet also loaded with lettuce, onion, tomato and pickles. Sometimes, depending on the size of your order asking for ranch on the side can incur a surcharge. I like how they have two lanes for ordering so the line moves quicker. As with all Checkers establishments, there is no interior section so the rainy season makes it a bit difficult to enjoy (unless you're doing drive thru). You won't find a Checkers in every corner so hashing one nearby always ensures an extraordinary papitas fritas scenario. They've recently added boneless wings to their menu and I have to say the lemon pepper rub makes me forget I'm at a fast food restaurant. LeJeune, I despise your traffic but a kids meal here outweighs the cons. I wish they made an app like the other fast food competitors offering mobile ordering and coupons. read more

I drove to checkers and placed an order I specified no pickles onions tomatoes or lettuce and asked for them to add cheese and bacon (which I was charged for) and I did not mind until I get home and my cheeseburgers have no cheese no bacon and instead tomato and onions. I spend an hour calling the store and no answer! This is ridiculous I had no choice but to make My own bacon and reheat my burgers to melt the sliced cheese I had to grab from my fridge Yes many would say o should have driven back but because of the curfew in effect I can't risk being arrested. I used to work right next to this checkers and come here a lot of the time for their deals. Biggest tip: DO NOT ORDER IN PERSON. go thru the drive thru. Also, if you have an incomprehensible cashier, ASK FOR A NEW PERSON. We had a lady who we definitely did not understand thru the drive thru mic. She was frustrated by the time we got to the window. So frustrated that she sent another associate to help us out. a very generous guy. But the lady misunderstood my 3 piece chicken tenders to a 5 piece. and added it as a combo when i didn't want a combo. and didn't scan my free fry coupon. on top of all that, they don't give a detailed receipt. just the items i ordered and a total at the end, not single prices for each item. the only reason there's even 2 stars is that the fries, burgers and chicken nuggets were good. the new fry seasoned chicken tenders didn't really taste fry seasoned and they seemed like they were double dropped in the oil.
