Went in to get a tire Alignment on a 2016 Mini all4. The service rep told me that it was going to be $450 for the alignment. Then proceeded to share how them and BMW do it a special way. I noticed that Mini of Richmond was doing a special for $170 for the alignment. Asked them to match the price and they said that Richmond's service department was not as good and qualified... both are BMW/Mini dealers...??? Glad Checkered Flag thinks they are so much better than other dealers. Will never go to VA Beach to Checkered Flag. Will drive to Richmond in a heartbeat where the service department is personable. Would not recommend to anyone. Make the drive to Crown Mini of Richmond and they will assist and not take every penny in your pocket. read more

Daniel is quite friendly and extremely helpful. Common area is re-designed to accommodate the pleasantries such as snacks, flavored drinks and coffee. They have come a long way in the past 3 years! I live in North Carolina and scheduled a service appointment for 10:25am on a week day. I drove 1.5 hours to be told that a regular oil change and brake service (that they recommended) would not be completed until the end of the day OR maybe even the next day because they were backed up in the shop. At 10am?! I drove from North Carolina--what was I supposed to do? I asked for options. They were all out of loaner cars, of course and offered no other recourse. I had no idea that the guy at the desk, Daniel, was also the manager...I purchased this car from them! Daniel would not provide a discount for the appointment he offered me that would be in about 1.5 weeks. At one time Checkered Flag Mini employed very professional, cordial, accommodating, and organized associates. That is definitely not the case now! They have irreversibly impacted my thoughts about the Mini brand. read more

We walked in last December knowing we were interested in a Mini. My husband had watched every mini video on UTube and so we were here to see what we could find! Out came Jacob. He told us he was new, so he threw me off of my "dealing with car salesman" game. Jacob is one of the main reasons we decided to buy a car here. He was very helpful. Asking questions from anyone around him and getting us the answers that we needed. We decided to build a new JCW All4 Mini Clubman. We got a good price and we were able to trade in our B6 Alpina BMW and got the best trade in amount of all of the places we checked. Jacob called and emailed every week to let us know the status of her build. We knew what stage the car was at all along the way. Surprise, she arrived a week earlier than expected. Jacob called us to tell us she was ready, we could come and get her today! But we were waiting on the cable guy, which turned into a six hour ordeal. They stayed late for us! We got there at closing time, before staying in close phone contact, and they told us to come on and get her! We were so excited! Three months later, brings us to today! Our Mini came in and she is BEAUTIFUL! This was the BEST car buying experience we have ever experienced. I would recommend to anyone looking for a Mini to go in and ask for Jacob. I took my car in to have it looked at and Daniel the service department attendee was very rude. I have been a long time customer there and never experienced such rudeness. Also, when I took my rental car back, as soon as I left I realized I left my garage remote control in the car. I called and emailed immediately so they would not have time to rent it out again. Daniel said he took care of it and it would be mailed to me. After numerous contacts and several months later now. I still do not have my remote. It is sad what Checkered Flag Mini has turned into. Tried to take mini in for routine inspection and oil change. Mechanic sent request for authorization of additional payment to diagnose hood because he could not open it. I had no hood issues previously and had opened it myself a week prior. Told him this and that I was uncomfortable paying extra at which point he asked me to come back and show him how to open the hood. I live an hour and a half away and could not return but that if he couldn't or wouldn't do the job for the agreed upon price just let me know and I would return in a few days to retrieve the vehicle. Upon the return visit I followed instructions on the handle and hood opened without incident. Followed up with service manager who said she would get to the bottom of it and call me back. Now she won't return or answer my calls and its been a few additional weeks. Finally reached a sales department staff member who assured me that they are all a part of the same team and she would look into it and contact me within the hour...its been a day so far and no word! Fraud suspected, has anyone else had a comparable experience? Update... going on one month with nothing but passing the buck. We did not buy our mini here but we have brought it in here on occasion for oil changes and warranty service. Everyone is very nice! From the floor sales to service, we always feel like we're taken good care of. I have known them to charge quite a bit but I am not surprised since they are owned by BMW. Everyone is very knowledgeable and they do make an effort to get to know you. Will definitely be returning for additional care needs. Showroom is clean and modern. I live in Richmond and wanted a new Mini CooperS 4 dr hardtop with manual transmission. I've been looking for months now and could only find a few and none in Richmond. I contacted Checkered Flag about one they had on their website and requested their "E-price". Diana Almaraz replied with a great price, a video of the features and a video of the inside and exterior. This helped me tremendously! In the mean time the Richmond dealer called me because my lease was ending soon. He had a manual CooperS that wasn't on their website but he said he could not go as low as what the car from Checkered had AND it had fewer features. So, off to Va. Beach I went. My experience there was the best I've ever had at a car dealership and I'm sure it was Diana that made everything go smoothly. She is so knowledgeable, pleasant and the best of the best. The last time I got a new car 2017, I was there for 4 hours. Diana had everything ready for me for my signatures. I hated this location in Virginia Beach because the guy in Service who is no longer there gave me so an awful experience. Literally caused me to drive to Richmond Mini Cooper Dealership which is 11/2 hour drive away to have my car serviced yet I live less than 15 minutes from Virginia Beach location. Due to an Emergency- I had to bring my Mini Cooper here. The thought of having to come here I was like Stressed with OMG until I walked in the door met Bonnie in the Service Dept. the female, she was so friendly n professional I was like is this real. To my surprise Bonnie was absolutely amazing, fabulous, fantastic offering customer service at 100%. I recieved promise phone calls more than once, she listened n understood my concerns doing nothing extra unless told. Please note the other guy is very nice too he's been there a while. Sorry don't know his name. I now bring my car to VA. Beach on purpose thank you in Management for sending Bonnie to Checkered Flag Mini Cooper maybe I will buy my next car at this location instead of Richmond which is amazing if you live in that area.
