DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE. I have never had a bad experience at a Honda service department until today. This was my first time going to this location because my usual location (off Battlefield) was booked up for a few weeks. I now know why this location had so much availability - because their customer service sucks and they are scam artists. I scheduled an oil change... I arrive and they proceed to tell me that my total will be $140 when online it shows $94 (shown in picture). When questioned about it, they try to say that it's because of oil prices going up which is funny because oil prices have actually been going down. I showed them the price online and they still try to charge me $140. INSANE. You can't advertise a price and then charge someone $50 over that price because of "oil prices going up" - that's a joke. Then if I want a rental car, I have to pay for it. The other locations I've gone to provide complimentary rental cars. My car was dropped off at 10am and was not finished until 5:30pm for a simple oil change. I received absolutely no communication on when my vehicle would be done. I had to call them an hour before they closed to ask them when my car would be done and they didn't even answer my call - I received a text message shortly after I called with the response. To continue with trying to steal every penny they can from people, they let me know that if I pay with a credit card they will charge 3.5%. Again, never experienced this at the other locations I've been to both in Virginia and California. The service rep and manager were both incredibly rude. I will never come to this location ever again and plan to tell everyone I know about my experience. read more

I'm going to have to downgrade my review on the Service Department. It's not based on the service performed. It's based on the current customer service. They are evidently understaffed & not handling it well. When I pulled in to drop off my car for 6am service the next day it took awhile for someone to approach. When she asked if I was dropping it off for an appointment tomorrow she just tried to hand me a form & rudely said "Fill this out." I told her I needed to talk to a Service Advisor & she walked away without a word. I waited. After quite a while someone else came with a form & said "Fill this out." I told him the same thing & he just walked away. I waited. Finally after no one else came I opened the door of a Service Advisor booth & said "Can you please help me?" That didn't go much better. When I told him what had happened he said "Have you ever been in the military?" What a strange question for a Senior Citizen. The only women in the military when I was his age were nurses & specialty occupations. And it wasn't about a military discount. It was in the midst of the conversation about me being ignored for so long. I told him I had been coming here fora long time & had never experienced anything except exemplary service. The very young man said something to the effect that they were all stretched to the limit. In my opinion that's not an excuse for poor behavior. I told him what I wanted done & was happy to leave. The next day I approved the estimate by text. The only thing it needed was a windshield wiper replacement, which shouldn't have taken so long. I texted for an update since I felt really bad from testing at the hospital & wanted to pick it up before the late afternoon rush. No answer. Finally I called the main number for service & told her how badly I felt. She told me if the transferred call went to VM to just come. It did. Once there my ride waited, based on my experience the day before. I waited until my service advisor was free & asked about the vehicle. He told me I would have to wait in the waiting area. A very nice trainee eventually came for me. The young Service Advisor first told me he was having to handle the work of two other Service Advisors, at least one of which he told me didn't show up. I ran a business for decades. This isn't the type of thing you tell a customer. They are all very young. The long time experienced Service Advisors appear to no longer be there. Last year I was told that mine had been moved to Toyota Service. I've been using the Service Department for almost two decades. Customer Service, with the exception of the person answering the phone & the trainee, has certainly changed. read more

Luckily, Priority Honda it's a lot closer to me and ALOT more professional than most of the people who work at this place. Everyone seems annoyed at Checkered Flag, and I was even told "if you have a bad review of this place, just don't respond to the survey". They took away the price matching aspect and once that left, so did all the customer service. I DO NOT recommend them for online orders... I recently ordered a replacement trim piece for my Accord coupe and have been getting the run around for 2 weeks. I ordered on 9/2/25. I called them on 9/8/25 after I had not received notice of shipment. I was told this was not an item they stocked and it was on order and should arrive later that day or tomorrow. They said they would ship as soon as they got their hands on it. I told them that was no problem as long as I got it by the 16th. I was told that shouldn't be a problem. I called them back yesterday, 9/15/25, for a status update. I was placed on hold and then told they have the part and it would go out that day. I asked if the part could be over nighted as it was already past the expected delivery date. I was told sure, no problem. I called back today as I have still not received notice of shipment and was told it would go out with today's UPS pickup. I was told it was 2 day delivery and would deliver 9/18/25. I explained the order was supposed to be over nighted yesterday and delivered today. I was not given an explanation or apology for the mishandling of my order. I cancelled the order and will look elsewhere. I just wanted to share my experience. read more

Took my car to the service center for a check engine light and a condenser recall. They kept my vehicle multiple days and returned it to me with a massive crack in the window. I saw it the moment I sat in my car and brought it to the attendants attention. Was basically told it was there before and I just didn't see it. When I said it was clearly in my view they brushed me off again and said it was from an impact. I called the manager and my husband called to complain when he saw it. They said it didn't matter if it happened on their property, since it wasn't done during maintenance they wouldn't fix it. Only offer was to bring it back so they could determine if it was from an impact which the attendant already told me it was. They did an inspection on day of drop off where they said windows were good so clearly there wasn't a foot long crack in my windshield but I guess their own inspections don't matter. So now I have to pay $400 to replace my windshield and I was spoken to as if I could've missed a giant crack in my window. Terrible service, we will be servicing and buying cars elsewhere. I usually get my service done at Pohanka in Fredericksburg where one doesn't need an appointment, and they are open late and early...to include Sunday. So there were still several hours left before techs departed but after I found someone I asked if they were a service advisor said no. Then they asked how they could help me. I took it they actually were advisors. Well I got the "gee I don't know there are a few people in front of you. It will be at least a couple of hours...." Well hmmm a couple of hours past 1 would be 3, still two hours from closing by techs. Why sell me on leaving? Why not just say absolutely if you are interested in staying we have coffee and a warm waiting room just be aware it will be a couple of hours. I would have stayed and gotten the service and read the news or wandered around looking for the next Honda. Oh I will buy a Honda but likely not from this dealership. read more

I bring my grandmothers car here for service. I don't come often because she rarely drives it. Terry Ruffin is my favorite service guy. He has been here since the beginning of time. Lol. He still has a good attitude, so he clearly loves his job. The waiting area and sales floor are clean. The staff in the sales area aren't the friendliest. They don't have complimentary snacks or drinks like my Acura dealership does. I guess I'm spoiled to be expecting snacks for free. Lol. The cost isn't bad for them though. I got a candy bar, bag of chips, & canned soda for under $3. I'm giving them 3 stars because they are slooooooowwwwww today. I've been here over 2 hours for an inspection and I'm ready to go. I have to update my review based on my latest experiences. I have been here many times for service appointments. My experience has been overall okay--sometimes good, and other times not so much. I think it also depends on who my service advisor is on that particular day. One general issue here is that in spite of having an appointment in advance, the wait times are long and I usually end up waiting all day for several hours to get anything done. It's been hard lately to get hold of an actual person from the service department to talk to over the phone. And it seems they have changed their policy on rides. Now they can only drop you off somewhere but cannot pick you up! There isn't much usefulness in getting dropped off somewhere but not getting picked up from there again. read more

We took our car here for an inspection and Honda told us we needed to replace the control arms for $1800. We took our car to Firestone and it passed inspection and the state inspector said the control arms appeared practically brand new. I had a great experience with my purchase. However I bought the warranty that was supposed to cover an oil change and it wasn't covered. I took my car in got it serviced for a $90 oil change. A week passed and my oil was EMPTY. I returned to the service center where I was treated as though I was exaggerating the condition of my vehicle. They checked saw it had no oil and offered to do another oil change, only this time they stripped the Canister Housing and I was sent home in a Rental. I returned the next day for my vehicle and the oil level was low again. I had my car towed to another shop where they noticed that the oil plug was not put back on. Which resulted in a 3rd oil change. I've called and requested a refund or some compensation for my time but I have not been acknowledged. I will not be returning or dealing with Honda Checkered Flag. So I don't think I'm ever bringing my car to get repaired here again. Every time we get it serviced there's an issue with the techs. Before I go on a rant, I just want to say that the SALES team is great. They're always super helpful and accommodating. The repair team on the other hand is a different story. My mom was very insistent on getting her car repaired here as this is where she bought her car and I believe because of that she gets free oil changes. However, this past year has been an awful experience with them. I handle getting her car repaired and dealing with them because she's disabled. We first got the vehicle looked at and repaired in September of 2022. No issues there, wasn't a problem. Few months later we have an issue with the brakes. The e-brake was sliding some and the other brakes felt off so we took it in. They got it fixed and again, no real issue. And then come a few months later to now. For some reason the gear shift wasn't recognizing when the brakes were being pressed so it wouldn't move out of park and we had to manually unlock it. Our service provider this time was Josh and he was very nice and explained that it wasn't related to the past repairs they did. So okay great, let's get this fixed then. So they take the car to look at it, we give it to them around 10am or 11am I believe (could've been earlier). We heard absolutely nothing for hours and hours. Which fine, I get you're busy. But I have work to get to. We didn't hear back until almost 8pm and we could finally pick up the car, but couldn't order the part because it was closed now. The technician that texted this to me told me to text them in the morning about ordering the part. So I do that the next morning and get a text back about updates (automated message), so the assumption is that the part is order. We hear nothing for a week and no one's answering the phone so we have to show up just for them to tell us the dumbass tech never ordered the part and that the new part only just came in. Okay? So no one was gonna tell us this? We finally bring our car in to get repaired at 10am the day we scheduled it, along with getting a state inspection. Hours go by again, and still nothing. I even asked Josh earlier in the day if it would be done by 4pm cuz I have work, he said he'd call and let me know. I don't hear anything till around 6pm telling me that they have to keep the car because they got busy. So what's the point of even making an appointment then..? So they keep it for another day. The next day 4pm rolls around again and no updates...trying to call and keep getting voicemail and no call backs. We finally get an answer and they have to keep the car another day they finally agree to give us a rental. So we brought our car in that Monday and didn't get it back till Thursday. Josh is a nice guy but dear god he's shit at keeping people updated and good luck trying to call and find out. If you want any news/updates you have to show up. Oh and that Saturday (today) I have to get my battery replaced. They put it in the paperwork that I need a battery replacement but didn't bother verbally telling me anything. Even though if they did we could've just taken care of the problem when they had my car for nearly a fucking week. I don't usually write a lot of reviews and especially not this long but this was such an aggravating experience. So if you want a hassle and be stressed, feel free to take your car here. But it's too much bs if you ask me. We'll be finding a new place to go. read more

The test drive went well and we were all in agreement about purchasing the SUV the next day, that was until their salesman returned with the worksheet, presenting price, tax, tags, processing fee ( this fee should be illegal), and accessories. Somehow the price jumped from the sticker price to several thousand more. Service department related: Unprofessional service (mechanical technicians) front end team is stellar. Went to get safety recall updates for my ten year old car, there is damage to the dash. For a a car as old as mine it's virtually in new condition so the damage is obvious and a disappointment. Technicians also changed seat, mirror and other personal settings in my car and didn't inform or return to original state. Free inspection is also a scam, every point they hit on I had just completed the maintenance on a week prior for only two hundred dollars and a youtube education. They wanted over 1700. They weren't sleazy like most car sales people are... Now that a year has passed, we have used their service department for an oil change, tire rotation, and state inspection. We accidentally made an appointment for an incorrect location and they STILL honored it and were able to fit us in despite everything. (This is quality service in my opinion.) EVERY time I come here something is wrong with my car two days later. Came for a tire rotation and my light came on for pressure. I reset it, thinking it was normal. It came back on the day after. Took it to a tire shop and 3 of my wheels were at 27 (should be at 40) and my front left was basically flat. All my tires were tested and in perfect condition. I don't know what they did at this shop, but they ultimately either didn't check, released air or knew and let me go and put me in danger. 2019 Honda Accord Hybrid Fuel pump fails AFTER RECALL PERFORMED!!! 1st issue- when I bought the car they did the old " We will get you a lower interest rate if you purchase the extended warranty", this is actually illegal in some respects. 2nd Issue- quoted 199.95 for transmission fluid change, bill was for $280..? 3rd Issue- Car died after Fuel pump recall performed...they claimed it was the battery control module under warranty but car still would not start. Now they are saying it's contaminated fuel and want $2200 to fix. I have a case open with Honda America but because they are back logged... 2 weeks:/ this has caused me an incredible amount of stress... Called 6 different dealers over the weekend... ALL 6 staid that this is caused because the pump was installed incorrectly...it has happened to them...and they make things right.... But I guess checkered flag Honda is above all that.:/ ****update**** Checked an unopened box at another dealership for the new part number.....the pump itself has NO PART NUMBER on it!!!! Not only that, my steering wheel is a few degrees off, and after calling for 4 days many times a day, they have not answered or responded to my voicemails. read more

So this particular shop I ended up having to take my car today after I picked it up into Hall of Honda and Elizabeth city and they had to replace the exact PCM module that was claimed on my warranty and supposedly replaced unfortunately it wasn't so I had to have the work redone and my warranty had to pay for it twice I will never ever go back. I have received showing I thought about contacting a lawyer. I was just ran down and exhausted taken for me this long oh and in the end had a recall on the fuel pumps and I just am exhausted with how horrible my experience was. in the end I was forced to replace for a brand new battery claiming that my battery was so dead. They couldn't even pick up the mileage off my car and it would not pick up a charge only to find out the PCM was draining the battery and as soon as they put the new battery in it happened again, but I was still forced to replace my car battery so I had to pay for that also knowing that my warranty only covered six days of a rental and so I had to pay out-of-pocket for anything else and again I picked up my car and was told I would have it on such and such of date within the six day range then nobody would answer the phone. Nobody would call me back and you could call that shop all day long most unprofessional service nobody would update me. Let me know what was going on, only for me to have a rental another week longer and that came out of my pocket. When we went to one dealership and the car salesperson I told us what can we do to get your business period period period and a different dealership that called and texted multiple times although I was not impressed with their service know how they package the prices of their cars. The one thing to know about purchasing cars from this dealership is that you will get the lowest discount possible and there is no prize has link so they will provide the lowest price possible the very front of the purchase so you can see the market sale retail price versus the discount that they will provide you and know that there's also discount for recent grads within two years and the military service discount. They have a nice dealer building with a clean waiting lobby area as well as a multi-function coffee machine and a water bottle refrigerator. And they also have battery charging stations and a um station for users as well. So if you are looking for a pain free and smooth process in purchasing a brand new car I would highly recommend working with the team here and joining part of the Honda family. read more

Tony sold me my Honda CR-V and was the first person to greet me with respect and break down his whole sales pitch to me as opposed to the Checkered Flag Toyota dealership "down the street" from them who when I went with the intention of purchasing a vehicle, did not greet me "properly" at the entrance and finally when somebody did greet me, I was passed off to a another salesperson who sat me down in her cubicle for no more than 5 minutes before bidding me a farewell. Be advised she was a pretty "white" female who could have sold me a vehicle, but maybe I didn't fit the criteria for a "buyer" to her. The young black guy is who drove me to the Honda Checkered flag dealership was nicer and more professional than that female who basically wanted nothing to do with me. "Tony" the Spanish (Mexican) guy at the Honda Dealership was a whole other person from the Toyota Checkered Flag Dealership. He was professional and patient with me. He didn't judge me and got a sale from me. Only negative is that when it came time to up-sale me he put his "salesman" hat and was a little pressing about wanting me to get these extra "deals" added to my monthly payment. Said he'd show us a car but instead made us feel unwelcome. Any questions I asked he answered with an attitude. **GREAT DEALER IF YOU LOVE BEING PUSHED INTO DEALS AND WAITING HOURS FOR A SCHEDULED SERVICE APPOINTMENT** Awful experience purchasing my 2021 Honda CR-V. Absolutely love my car. However before hand talked with an older salesman named Scott about how I didn't want to get pushed into anything or feel pressured into getting anything. I was pressured multiple times to purchase full package deals that were "worth it" that would add thousands of dollars to my purchase that I didn't want. If I wasn't someone with a backbone I would've gotten pushed into getting a deal I didn't want. Also scheduled my first service which was only an oil change. I arrive there and the car wasn't taken for 20 minutes. I had an appointment for 1:20 and was told I would have a TWO HOUR wait - might as well not even have an appointment. I'm both experiences I was highly urged to put in my reviews and surveys that they were excellent across the board which is far from how I was treated and the service was overall. read more
