    Used these until my official car mats came in.. kind of a bummer for a brand new car to not come with floor mats

    This is long overdue so it -- for sure -- will be a lengthy review. To me, the worst part about any car buying experience ( and at jewelry stores) is the sales person. That one person that sees you minding your business, pops out from nowhere immediately asking all these questions, and then tries to force you into buying a car that's never crossed your mind. It's a salesman's job of course to sell you the cars but I feel that it just drives people away. No pun intended. It's happened to me twice and I have stuck to Carvana and Vroom ever since. It wasn't like that here at Checkered Flag Volkswagen. Let's start by saying that they aren't commission based, so that takes some weight off. My husband and I visited, walked around the whole lot unbothered, and then sent an online inquiry about the new 2023 VW Taos I was interested in. Nick Rios then guided me via video through a virtual tour in and out of all the vehicles I was interested in. He pointed out all the features, exterior and interior details of it, and the price difference between each one. He even traveled to a sister dealership to show me the exact same car but different color. He was open to all and any questions and never seemed pushy to sell. The day my husband and I went to "test drive" and "just look" at the Taos was the day we drove it home. A brand new 2023 Taos SE 4Motion. Nick Rios was very personable, patient, he provided top tier customer service, and treated my husband and I like family. During the whole car buying process, he tried to find the best deal he could get for my 2019 Mini Cooper S trade-in, quotes for car insurance, and the most beneficial car packages to add-on. Nick went above and beyond the WHOLE time we were there and we were there for hours (12pm-7pm). Being by the door, it was cold outside and he offered to change the thermostat in his office to make sure it was warm enough for my husband and I. He would step away to give my husband and I ample time to talk and even asked if we wanted any snacks or drinks. Everything was always throughly explained and he was very upfront when it came to concerns we had. Lots of positive things we can go on about in describing the car buying experience with Nick but I won't write any more of a book. They aren't salespeople here but are more so customer service, so you'll always be greeted with a smile and given time to think. Everyone was super nice in this dealership and I doubt you'll ever get a bad worker here, but Nick Rios stood out to us, among all. My only complaints being the floor mats not being in the car when taking it off the lot and having to wait for them, and the rushed detail job they did on the car. Brand new car, I just felt like they could've slapped some mats in or had taken their time to detail it while we were doing all the paperwork. I'd definitely recommend Checkered Flag VW and Nick to anyone. He changed our car buying experience. Who knows, maybe we'll be back just to look at the inventory again.

    Outstanding sales and service from the start. I had never been to the dealer before but was already familiar with the strong Checkerd Flag name. However I was not familiar with the VW product line. I had dealings with four sales people. Gabby, Sarah, Daniel and another gentleman. All four excellent and knew VW products well. The show room is awesome with vintage Volkswagen cars and other items. The centerpiece is a totally restored 1963 Hippie van. Although I did not purchase from them they did everything right to make me feel comfortable with no pressure haggle free environment. I wanted my son to love their product line more, but at the end it was not for him.

They made sure I was all set before making my drive home by making sure I had a full sized spare tire, when I brought up my concern that there was no front license plate mount they instantly took action to make sure it was fixed for me, and a full tank of gas! This morning I got up at 5 AM to be first in line for their 730 opening to get my oil change and filter which I have been doing for the last 13 years. The representative said, "Do you have an 'appointment'?" I said, I've never had an appointment in 13 years for oil change, and filter." She said, "Well, now you need an appointment, but we'll 'try' to fit you in." She said, "I can't guarantee we'll get you in." She also said, "Since you have a recall, we can't do your service unless you have the recall done first." I went to talk to the guy that I have been dealing with for years complaining about this and reminding him that I had an appointment last week that wasn't honored. Even though everyone else I talked to used the term "appointment", he dutifully held the new management line and said, It's not an appointment. It's a "check in time." This is total BS. Everyone on earth knows what an appointment means. It does not mean come on over and maybe we'll get to you and maybe we won't. After 13 years, they have gotten my last dollar.

The only negative thing that I have to say about the experience is that I had asked when we sat down for the loan what percentage the rates started at. We were told they started at 5.25%. My sister has good credit so I wasn't expecting her payment to fall in a much higher percentage bucket. We were good with the price of the vehicle, and the warranty that she added on. However, and this is a big however, until we were signing the documents, did we see for the first time that the loan she was being given was at over 14% APR. This is absolutely ridiculous and unheard of for somebody who has good credit. We wasted no time going over to Navy Federal and securing her a proper loan at a reasonable rate. The amount that Carmax was trying to charge her in interest was more than half of what the vehicle cost with the add-ons. Let that sink in. Do not sign blindly and make sure you understand what you would be paying in interest. I highly recommend getting pre-approved elsewhere for a loan first and not using their financing. You have three days to get a loan elsewhere and have it changed over, but I would suggest making sure you're eligible before you go car broke. We didn't see any of that until half way through signing the contract. Kind of crazy!

CARMAX does not do repairs on Tesla's, they will send you to the Tesla dealership on military highway. Once there, Tesla does not accept third-party warranties you will have to pay for all repairs out-of-pocket with a hope of reimbursement from Max Care. If they approve the reimbursement, it will take 3 to 4 weeks. It's been a cluster bomb. I hope to save someone a ton of trouble and Time.

For me, every time I have come here has been an amazing, gracious experience. I was sold my car by the dapper C.J. Morris, who is a man that keeps things real. Each time I came in afterward he recognizes me and shakes my hand. Drivers World has a good policy of "price as marked" with no haggling, since their prices are already low. I don't know about that across the board, but my 2010 Hyundai Accent was a great deal. I have had two issue happen with my car since its purchase. The first was when my spare key came in from the Hyundai Mother Ship. We tried it out and it got stuck in the ignition! Samantha, in their service dept., immediately got me a rental and called a locksmith to look at it the next day. My car was fixed up that next day too, the locksmith had to re-cut part of the key. My second issue was when my car suddenly didn't start one day after work. I took a panicked trip in the tow truck to Drivers World where they got me a loaner car that night. They called me in the morning and told me it was the starter. I returned my loaner and they got me a rental; a few days later I picked up my car from Checkered Flag Hyundai. So far, everything has been covered and I always get treated nice there. I had a great buying experience and their awesome service has continued. Hopefully all my visits will be this good.

She calls to let me know that I have to pay for the dealership to "inspect" the issue, according to her, the company providing my warranty is requiring them to do a diagnostics (almost $200) BUT if the issue is covered I do not have to pay it. Welllllll....Surprise, surprise...it's not covered. I do not know what type of "diagnostics" they did but when I called my extended warranty place I was told my issue was covered, however, it is insurance & I don't think the dealership would NOT want to make money so I don't think they did anything with any erroneous or malicious intent but I am definitely taking it to another dealership for a 2nd opinion. Not only is my steering wheel warmer still broken but I am out well over $200 and then some. From reading the reviews it seems this dealership will take super care of you BEFORE you buy a vehicle but they're not too super caring AFTER you buy a vehicle. I am here to validate that! I will be taking my car to be serviced elsewhere from now on. Everyone is kind & friendly but if these service folks are working off of commission they will DEFINITELY nickel & dime you to make their extra nickel & dimes.

    ***THIEF EMPLOYEE***…read more I took my car to Checkered Flag Toyota for a simple service appointment, and before handing over my keys, I specifically checked the entire vehicle, including the center console where I had cash stored. When the service was finished and they gave my keys back, the money was gone. Someone inside that service department clearly stole from my vehicle, and instead of taking accountability or conducting a serious investigation, management acted like it was no big deal and seemed more interested in protecting their employees. The manager even handed me the amount of money that was stolen as if that somehow solved the issue. No, it does not solve the issue -- the fact that there is apparently a thief working there and management is willing to cover for it is completely unacceptable. It is shocking that a dealership representing a major brand operates with this level of dishonesty and lack of integrity. Customers should not have to worry about their belongings being stolen while their car is supposedly being serviced. I am beyond angry and disappointed with how this situation was handled.
