Tow guy tried to fight my husband and then called my friend "fu$&%#g stupid" in front of a 10 YO child when she refused to back down about damage to her brand new car. Bad enough we were towed, but damage cars and curse at us because we won't accept their lack of professionalism? That's ridiculous. Overpriced for a state inspection. They did the check quickly and I decided to pay the extra cost for this however when I came back to pick up my car they were taking the payment (while playing their video games) and didn't advise the car didn't pass the inspection. I asked them what was wrong and there were minor things. -- any other place would've called to check if I wanted get the car fixed. Isn't this how they make money? -- They said one of the fog lights was not working and offered to take both off for $40 bucks! After all that I tried to reinstall the fog lights at home and found out they were both working. The cherry on top was the poor customer service. Really uninterested to help and really to make money. My dad had to go back and fourth just to solve the FKEN problem. So, first of all the machine we used is dumb. It only added 0.75 and the second time it didn't even work. My dad asked for refund since there's no oil came out. Well, the lady didn't gave us back the right amount, so we lost $10. You know oil money are big deals ._. I usually go inside and there team inside are very friendly. I am a believe in buying local. So this is the place to go for car service and gas. I got my car inspected by this place and would not recommend it at all. The inspector completed my car's inspection with the wrong VIN number. I informed them that it was incorrect and I was told I had to pay for a new inspection. They eventually agreed to update the my inspection with the correct VIN. This shop told me that they updated my inspection. I waited two weeks before I called MVA to check on the status of my registration and I was told that they did not have a inspection for my vehicle. I then called to this place and was told that the inspector no longer works there and it's nothing they could do. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND! read more

The car inspection was done in a reasonable time, about 1.5 hrs, but was more expensive than most. The girl inside handed the paperwork without mentioning whether the car had passed. She just wanted payment. And she was fooling around with a young guy so that might have been distracting for her. The car didn't pass and the guys needed to replace a bulb, add a lug nut, and remove a light they said wasn't working (and it was, actually , because I just reinstalled it). That took another hour or so and wasn't cheap, about $80 more. Check out other places if you can. You won't walk away with a great feeling from this place. read more

Got a MD state inspection from here simply because this was the only place the MVA could tell me that did inspections. I should have done some research first. They charged me $89, failed my vehicle, and told me I needed $800 work of work done. I explained that I had just passed the NC annually required inspection 6 months prior, and asked for more details on what failed. The checklist they gave me had one word chicken scratch writing next to the failed items and they did a miserable job of elaborating on the details of what needed to be repaired. I think they were hoping I would just tell them to go ahead and do the repairs. After they gave me this $800 estimate, I looked up some reviews and found other people online that were unhappy with Chesapeake Exxon doing their inspection as well. Instead of paying them $800 to do the repairs that they claimed I needed. I took my vehicle to PEPBOYS the very next day and paid $50 for a new inspection. Chesapeake Exxon was going to charge me another $39 for the re-inspection anyway. PEPBOYS called me and said that I needed a headlight restoration because the inside of my left headlight was fogged over and it would cost me another $50 if I wanted them to do do the work that same day. So in total it cost me $100 at PEPBOYS for my MD inspection and repairs. I wasted $89 at the Exxon and I will never go back, not even for gas, to this station. read more

This place was horrible. Took it here to have the car inspected and they failed me 5 times! - The car was my grandmothers- had 40K miles on it and was 12-years old. (Keep in mind they charge you $40.00 every time you re-inspect it). Every time i asked for a reason they said the Brakes do not work. I would ask what we need to do to fix them, and every time the guy would say try this and try that. We did everything he asked and he failed it the 5th and last time. I was done after 6-months of trying to do what he said and the 5th time he failed it - he simply wrote "brakes don't work" - YES they do! so i took it to superior auto on RT. 3 that evening. The guy was awesome, told me all i needed was ball joints fixed. We fixed them and took it back for re-inspection (and he did not charge a re-inspection fee!) and passed us! The guy with superior pretty much said the guy at Exxon was jerking us around or did not know what he was doing at all! DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE TO BE MARYLAND STATE INSPECTED!! read more

Slow state inspection. I think the MD state inspections are a racket so my expectations were already low. This place advertises inspections in 1 hr. So I make an appointment and wouldn't you know, it took them 3 hrs. The car passed with flying colors so its not like they were tallying up all the issues for the extra 2 hrs. $89 for the inspection. Not the lowest around but in the ballpark of all the others. The lady working the desk was nice enough and they completed the work for the agreed price, for that they get 2 stars. The mechanics acted like they could careless about my business. That plus the excessive time were the big negatives. Ill take my business elsewhere. read more

If I could have given zero stars, I would have. My daughter had a accident in my car. They came and towed it. I had given her a fifty dollar bill to travel with and she put it in the center console. She forget it after the accident. We went to the car a day later and it was gone and it had been ransacked. I thought the contents of the car where supposed to be inventoried. I told the them about it and he said he would have to ask who drove the truck that night. I really don't think she will get the money back. read more

These guys are a rip off!!! I took my vehicle in for inspection 3 times and each time they found more things that needed to be fixed. They finally passed it $1000 later after I agreed to get the additional repairs completed there. They were rude, slow, expensive, and didn't except repair completed by another shop. Got into an accident in October. Took them a week and a half to get my car to the body shop for repairs. Once my car finally made it to the shop and I was able to get my things out of it I noticed something's missing. Not just from inside of the cabin but in the trunk as well. If you get into an accident and they show up you might want to wait for another tow company to come get your car. You have a better chance of it getting to the body shop in a timely manner and you won't have to worry about your belongings going missing. read more

This review is a repeat from the other Chesapeake Exxon listed. Same company not sure why it's on twice. I think the people complaining on here are upset that their cars didn't pass for valid reason and weren't expecting another couple hundred dollars added to their moving to Maryland expenses. I moved here many years ago, brought 3 cars with me. They inspected each one and each on did need slight repairs to pass. I completed the repairs at Chesapeake Exxon. For the most part it was brakes and tires and some light bulbs and honestly I knew they were needed anyways. Fast forward a few years and all of those cars are still in my possession and still running great. All maintained by the staff at Chesapeake Exxon. They've always been upfront, honest, reasonably priced and very kind. I've recommended this place to several friends that have moved here too, some got their work done else where and were never charged a reinspection fee that many have talked about on here. I've even used their towing a few times. If your coming to Maryland, especially the Annapolis area I strongly urge you to consider this review as guidance from someone who's been where you are now. read more

The WORST experience I could have had for my first time being towed. I was in an accident and the worst that came of it was two flat tires, thankfully, but this company made everything so incredibly difficult. I did not have a choice of who to call for the tow because the county police were the ones who called it in. Every single time I called to check on the status of my vehicle or gain some kind of clarification, I was given condescending and rude answers. I wasn't completely sure of the process when I first called in so I said "Hi, my car was towed there over the weekend." The response from one of the employees, Gary, was "OK........ So what's your plan?". At one point, we weren't even sure of where my vehicle was located and my mother was trying to gain some clarification on that aspect and was given the response "Oh, didn't know that we had to give you the exact mileage." Needless to say, their demeaning and condescending comments are the reason why my family, friends, and I will no longer be giving our business to this Exxon. Not even for a tank of gas. Also, if any one of you has a bad experience with their towing, you CAN report it to the Anne Arundel County police department. read more

I went to this Exxon for the MD State Inspection. They inspected my vehicle and failed it because they said there where 3 repairs needed to be made, right front rotor, an blown taillight, and the headlight adjusting screws were missing from my vehicle. This was in July. I got the rotor replaced, replaced the bulb myself and then concentrated on the headlamp adjusting screws. I searched everywhere for these screws, advanced auto parts, auto zone, junkyards, etc... In my frustration I even called the shop and informed them of my situation, my temp registration had expired because I didn't have a MD inspection certificate yet i spent money on headlamp adjusting screws from auto parts stores which did not work for my particular SUV. On the verge of tears I asked them if I brought my vehicle to them could they fix the issue with the headlights especially since they are the ones who found the issue in the first place. They responded that they would not be able to help me. I asked how could they be a repair shop and have found this problem but not be able to fix it??? Needless to say this is my first and last time having my vehicle inspected in any way by this particular Exxon. Also maybe the MVA should do a little more research before they endorse a repair facility just because it's nearby. read more
