Staff can't handle the crowd. We were waiting for an hour to sit and waited another hour to get our food. There were a bunch of empty reserved tables but the staff told we cant seat there. And those seats remained empty until we finished our dinner. And some people in my group got wrong food and the server didn't even ask for the replacements. People come here because this is the only restaurant serving this kind of American food in town. It's just good for a small town. read more

Came to try the $5.00 farmers breakfast. I am very impressed. You get scrambled eggs, 3 pieces of thick bacon, home fries, scrambled eggs and a biscuit with sausage gravy. They do not allow any substitutions so don't try to order eggs over easy but at this price you can't beat the deal. I highly recommend stopping by and grabbing this deal. None of us could even finish it so don't worry about not being full. Staff is very friendly and nice environment. It's off the main strip in Pittsburg but worth driving the extra few blocks. read more

Well, I'm going to remember this for a long time...I just finished working out and was feeling pretty good about myself. Usually I get a semi-healthy meal at Chatters. Consisting of a simple sushi roll, salad and jasmine tea that comes in those lovely mesh pyramids (sadly Chatters no longer has these teas). Anyways, I finished at the gym and thought to myself boy, that meal I described above sounds good and skipped down there. The atmosphere as usual, was great, clean and sophisticated. The server was young (as usual) but very kind and helpful. Then it slowly dawned on me that I dressed inappropriately for this place. post-workout look: hair sticking out, casual clothes, face flushed. I started feeling insecure and my fears were confirmed when I heard a table of women snickering at me. I heard them call me "gross" and "she is disgusting" i couldn't take it. When the waitress came back I apologized and told her I wouldn't be ordering. I picked up my purse and walked by the table of women and gave them a hard stare and left. I haven't been back. I don't recommend Chatters for the too casual or the overly-self conscious. I'm not saying that Chatters has a hostile environment. But it definitely has a slight snooty vibe. Which I think could Make potential customers feel isolated and not come back, like me. I also have an advice and opinion of the owner. Ahmed? He seems wonderfully driven, very friendly, but I'm sorry the food is not worth the price. I understand the price matches the atmosphere and that's fine! But match it to the food. I have a feeling your being nice and letting the high school/college students work there, but maybe you should get some "food schooled" chefs. The recipes are excellent it's mostly the execution of the meal I have issue with. I have no doubt this owner will be successful I just think a few things need to be ironed out. Investing in seasoned chefs (get it? ;) and maybe tweaking the atmosphere to be a little more friendly. read more

Jon taffer would have a hay day with this place. Is this a sushi place, Chinese cuisine, Greek gyro hub, burgers and fries, pizza shop, fine dining. Hard to tell as the menu has more of a scattered brain than a 9 year trying to make up their mind. On a real note. Servers are uneducated on the menu. Servers and hostesses eating right in front of customers. Hostess stand cleaning silverware as guests are arriving (not a good look). Many things need changed here. As a coworker said as we left. Oh My!! Where are John Taffer and Gordon Ramsey when you need them most. This place screams for an identity. Sushi, Burgers, Asian, Street Tacos and Charcuterie are just SOME of the choices on their menu. Our traveling group of 3 stumbled in on Valentines Day 2018 and were immediately greeted by a smiling team of 3-4 hostess rolling silverware from a dishwasher rack that not only included the silverware but also loose food debris. The team was nice enough and let us know that they didn't have a table ready but we could wait near the front door or in the lounge. We asked if we could take an empty table in the lounge and they said sure, so off we went. As I mentioned the menu is all over the place which begs the question "What are they good at?" Well I can tell you this, they aren't good at Burgers or Asian. We started with an appetizer that is something called "Torpedo Shrimp" that is described as "Crispy Shrimp wrapped w/crispy rice". It kinda reminded me of Pork Rinds as it was really light and airy and very little shrimp or flavor. It's a good thing they serve it with "Joy Sauce" otherwise I never would have never known I had eaten it. For the entrees we ordered the "Farmhouse Burger" which was average at best With very little flavor. A cheeseburger with the same review by another in the party and finally the "Sweet and Sour Chicken". Before ordering my travel partner asked if the dish was breaded and fried like you might expect for a typical Chinese dish and was assured it was, but upon delivery it was more like a stir fry with very little color and ALOT of sauce. We questioned our server and she stated "Oh, I guess it isn't breaded. I guess I should have asked someone. My bad!" She did offer to get him something else but who wants to watch everyone else eat and then have them watch you eat, so he declined. He also subbed the crab Rangoon for the side and instead of delivering it with the meal it was sent early like an appetizer. Overall this place is horribly managed!!!! Servers in the lounge/bar were standing in their station at the bar eating dinner and not paying attention to the customers. Servers really don't know the menu and don't really care that they don't know it. When we saw the hostess rolling silverware at the hostess stand when we walked in we should have taken the que and left. The prices are pretty fair but then again you get what you pay for. This really seems like a neighborhood bar/restaurant where everyone seemed to know each other and were friends with the staff as well. I will never return and would definitely not recommend this place. P.S. I never review these places normally but this is definitely an exception. Ahmad should give John Taffer a call!! read more

One server rolled her eyes at my group and huffed as we entered the restaurant -- i guess we interrupted her break. I ordered the NEW ORLEANS MUFFALETTA, which was served on a pool of oil. The entire bottom half of the thing was deeply soggy and had disintegrated by the time it got to the table. The inside of the sandwich was just a massacred cocktail of olives and salami---the salami still had the ring of wax/plastic casing on it. My wife ordered a burger, which seemed fine. All the next day, she suffered in the bathroom and we couldn't leave the house. Owner comped her meal. read more

The food HAS to be the focus. While the decor and layout of the place is absolutely top-notch, I have never came away anything more than underwhelmed with the food. The menu is vast and packed with plenty of options, but everything tastes under seasoned and somewhat bland. They've always been proactive in finding new items to put on the menu, but they have also cornered themselves by charging high prices (nearly everything on the menu is over $10) for food that doesn't live up to the self-predicated hype. i ordered the sirloin steak tips medium rare with mashed potatoes and a salad. the salad was okay but it was a bit soggy. the steak tips were cold, not medium rare, it didn't taste like much and was very chewy. it felt like i was chewing a piece of bubble gum. the mashed potatoes had way too much garlic. it looked like someone put them in a bowl. microwaved it. and then flipped them onto my plate. not to mention the server who acted like he didn't care to be there. read more

When one is looking for a place to dine in a small city like Pittsburg, Kansas, it can be rather tricky. However we have found a GREAT restaurant in Chatter's. It is located away from downtown in a partial strip mall and has plenty of free parking. The ambiance is very nice. A huge menu of exciting items and the servers are extremely knowledgeable and the food is prepared perfectly and and the food presentation is wonderful. There is a bar in the next room so you have a choice of fine dining or bar dining. For a town of under 40,000 this is a very welcome place. Can't recommend it enough. Between the confused decor, overwhelming menu and lackluster food, this place is a serious contender for Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares. You can't excel at anything if you attempt to offer everything; the menu is far too chaotic. I honestly think some locals continue to eat there out of simple lack of options in Pittsburg. To start, our waitress was a complete space cadet who had to be asked multiple times for things such as refills and silverware. After we had ordered drinks she returned to ask if we "are finally ready to order?". When the draft beers arrived, despite our party ordering three different types, not one had any bubbles at all, all three were skunked. The "Bellini" one of our party ordered was served in a martini glass, and straight alcohol, no peach purée to be found. It's fine to put your own spin on things, but don't butcher a classic and pass it off as the original. The fried chicken salad another guest received was an absolute disgrace. Old iceberg lettuce, even older, slimy cucumber chunks and obviously frozen breaded chicken chunks they use for their boneless wing selection. To add insult to an already horrible experience there was a giant hair snaked through the salad, which is an immediate appetite killer. After delivering the food the waitress did not return until everyone else was finished, so our friend sat there with the offending hair salad in front of him for the entire meal. I'll start with the good as a whole: Gorilla Nachos, Have some drink specials during the week that are good, quality of ingredients/food/condiments/etc than most others. Bar area has many tv's and fair amount of seating Negatives: some of the prices are on the high side (wings especially), I always seem to have an abnormally long wait time when I come here. In general terms I would say Chatters has average to above average food, poor service, above average bar area for sports viewing. *Disclaimer* This is just one incident from many trips to Chatters, and there are of course other, positive incidents, but this one was just a little bit ridiculous to us. Chatters has been a snowball sliding down hill for the last few years now in my opinion. The service has gotten very poor over the past few years. I've always given them the benefit of the doubt since they are one of the few local establishments. Today though, our waitress was amazing, management and the cooks not so much. I went with a large party and the food took quite some time (which I have little complaint about since our party was so large.) One of the members in my party received a burger that was way undercooked, a member of my party then asked to speak to the owner to voice their concerns, another member of Chatters' management came to the table and said the owner was unavailable. After the re-cooked food was brought back out (by the owner who was said to be unavailable who also didn't say anything to acknowledge the error). They did "make it right" by wiping that cost of that meal. The owner did end up talking to our table briefly as we left, but still made no admittance of error on his or his staff's behalf saying they got very busy in the back (you are a restaurant, that will happen), and also said that they had a reception later and told his hostess/receptionist not to take our reservation which was made early in the week, I think 4 days of preparation would be enough to handle two large reservations in one day. read more

I am never eating at Chatters again. They spent two hours getting our food (which was mediocre and burnt) and then another hour to get our ticket! On top of that after complaining to the manager who replied with a lame apology, he didn't even come back to our tables. Yes they took 10% open something or other off, (which was a whole $3.35 off of our 4 person ticket) but still expected us to pay 18% gratuity! And for the record this is not the first time this kind of thing has happened, but it is definitely the last. I advise everyone to take their money and time elsewhere. read more
