When we pulled up to the lady taking money for the parking lot she said, "what are you here for?" We excitedly told her we were here to see the show. Her response, "$5." Once we got to the door with our tickets. The lady at the door stared at us. No greeting. She could have responded "Hey. Welcome in." or "Do you have tickets for tonight's show?" or "Can I get your last name for your ticket reservation?" She wanted us to say something first and just stared. Finally she said "your last name." We told her. Her response, "Ok." The show was mediocre and dry. Quite frankly, we considered leaving early. The main thing that was odd was how rude their entire front of house staff was.

Beware of Chattanooga Dance Theatre - Completely Disappointing Experience…read more I cannot recommend Chattanooga Dance Theatre. My 7-year-old daughter was kicked out of the Nutcracker performance at Christmas simply because she missed a few rehearsals. While we understood the importance of attendance, these were due to real family and health emergencies, which we communicated well in advance. The studio showed zero flexibility or compassion. What makes this even more upsetting is that they specifically emailed us encouraging her to join the performance, which now feels like a ploy to collect money. We spent over $360 on tickets, paid for hotel rooms for family and friends, invested in costumes and additional classes, and even paid the mandatory performance participation fee--all for a 7-year-old child who simply couldn't attend a few rehearsals. Yet Chattanooga Dance Theater refused to refund a single penny. This rigid, profit-driven approach is unacceptable for children. On top of that, the facilities are unclean, and there are serious safety concerns. Classrooms and the waiting area are overcrowded with children, making it stressful and potentially unsafe for young dancers. Families, please be cautious. Chattanooga Dance Theatre may promise a magical experience, but in reality, they prioritize profit and strict rules over the well-being of children. This has been an extremely upsetting experience for our family, and I hope others think twice before trusting them with their children.

My daughter eagerly looks forward to each class and returns home brimming with pride, eager to share the new dance moves she's mastered. The end-of-year recital was a beautiful showcase of the children's growth and progress. I am excited to see the new skills my daughter will develop throughout the year. I wholeheartedly recommend Chattanooga Dance Theatre to any parent seeking a supportive and enriching experience for their child.

This museum and performance hall features a beautiful array of Chattanooga Black history as well as showcasing the wealth of Black musical talent that has hailed from this wonderful city, including Bessie Smith herself! Each exhibit features tangible artifacts alongside highly informative digital displays with written information, as well as short documentaries playing in select areas. Mr. Elijah was our tour guide and he held a wealth of knowledge about the origination of the area, beginning with the Indigenous peoples that lived in the area, progressing through time. The galleries he led us through featured Chattanooga's greatest African-American movers and shakers, prominent entrepreneurs, important local historical events, and much more! I highly recommend anyone who loves Black history and loves Chattanooga to pay a visit to this powerful and inspiring establishment of historical and cultural celebration!

We take advantage of their Bargain Tuesday tickets, which are $6.00 per person all day on Tuesdays. It's a nice treat when you want to see a movie in theaters, but don't want to pay an exorbitant ticket price. The theater advertises luxury recliner seating, which is truly just recliners, and ours were unfortunately quite worn. The difficulty with just switching seats is that at the box office, you pick your seat, and it's then reserved and on your ticket. So if you get to the theater and see your seat is tore up and decide to sit in any other seat that's less tore up than "yours", you run the risk of being in someone else's seat when they arrive in the theater. This happened to us. So you either move to another, work it out with the person whose seat you're in, or go back to the box office and tell them to switch your seat. I understand the pros and cons of seat reserving for the theatre, but for the visitor, if you don't know what the state of the seat your picking is in when you're purchasing your ticket, it creates unnecessary hiccups. What we saw was the seats with the best vantage point were the ones tore up the most (AKA, the ones picked all the time to sit in). Aside from the reserved seating conundrum, the theater was good. The screen and sound quality were good, bathrooms were relatively clean, and there were just enough attendants at the concession stand. In all, spending only $6 for a ticket was justified, but spending anymore, I would have felt like I didn't get my money's worth. Not a terrible experience, but nothing extraordinary either. Would we come back for another Bargain Tuesday? Yes, we would.

The gardens at the Choo Choo are so charming and beautiful that it set the perfect ambiance for an "outdoor picnic/BBQ". We started with a refresher made of Sake. It was smooth and light and perfect for a hot afternoon. From there we started to peruse the various booths for food and spirits. Like anyone, we quickly had our favorites. My husband and I decided that next year we will not wait to win tickets, we will be purchasing them. I am looking forward to exploring some of these businesses outside of the venue. I attend lots of the food and drink events in Chattanooga, but somehow I had missed this one. Now, I am so sorry that I missed any of them, this was the best food and drink event that I've attended!! First of all it was at the Choo Choo, which is the perfect location. It was miserably hot and I knew we would be able to step inside and cool off if we needed to. The event is set up in a long u-shape. So it's really easy to keep track of where you've been. There is a booklet that maps everything out for you so that you can go back and hit your favorites again! Music is at each end of the event. The first thing I'd like to address is the Sip part of Sip & Savor. Oh my, where to begin. There is something for everyone here! Not only is there plenty of beer and wine for everyone, there is whiskey, gin, and liqueurs. So much to choose from, I started with cocktails, moved on to some whiskey tasting, tried some wine and finished with beer. I know this sounds like a lot, but it was small amounts of each and I also filled in with plenty of water since it was so hot. My husband's favorite was definitely the Redemption Whiskey, he paced out his tasting and we looped back to this table every so often for him to try a different one. Now, let's talk about the savor part of Station Street Sip & Savor. There was plenty of good food to go around. There were lots of different takes on barbecue, I would have liked to see a few more cooler options like salads. But everything I tried was wonderful. It was miserably hot on this day and I still had a fantastic time. If you knew how much I hate hot weather, you would know how good this event was! Lots to drink, lots to eat, lots of friendly people and music...what more could you ask for? I forgot to mention - as if it couldn't get any better - this benefits Chattanooga's Kids on the Block!
