What's…read morenot to love about seeing a band at a smaller venue, in a smaller(but hip) city, and for less money than Nashville?! I jumped at the opportunity to do this! As others may have previously mentioned, this theater is quirky. We had recently seen a show at the Lyric in Birmingham and hoped it would be similar. It was but wasn't. The layout of the building was very odd, men's room on 4th floor and ladies on the 2nd. On the 3rd floor, they have their VIP lounge. Oddly, the only thing designating it as such was a small sign on an easel. Having not been here and not being from Chattanooga, I was leering in and trying to determine what exactly WAS this lounge. There was a lady sitting in a chair just inside and when she saw me, she muttered "Fourth Floor". Somewhat taken aback, I informed me that it was my first time there and I was trying to figure out what the space was. It was only then, that she said "Oh, it's a VIP lounge for contributors and donors to the preservation fund." Thanks! Another quirk about this is that they seemingly have the OG pew/seats! While this is AMAZING and historic, there were a number of patrons that looked very uncomfortable. Also, in reference to the Lyric, I was bummed that this didn't have opera boxes. Oh well. We'll definitely be back if artists we like play here!

The show here was kind a like a play if you ask me complete with 4 actors and 4 actresses and even a piano player. It lasted for about an hour and a half. It was funny with some skits that even made you laugh. They probably had 4 or 5 skits and each was ended simply by someone running around the stage. Then, they would act out a different scene. I guess this is the improv way. They have a web site where you can check their schedule for upcoming events. Yeah, I would go back again, you bet.

Visiting the Bessie Smith Cultural Center was a spectacular experience! As a native Chattanoogan, I…read morehad never had the pleasure of attending before, but my visit today blowed me away! This museum and performance hall features a beautiful array of Chattanooga Black history as well as showcasing the wealth of Black musical talent that has hailed from this wonderful city, including Bessie Smith herself! Each exhibit features tangible artifacts alongside highly informative digital displays with written information, as well as short documentaries playing in select areas. Mr. Elijah was our tour guide and he held a wealth of knowledge about the origination of the area, beginning with the Indigenous peoples that lived in the area, progressing through time. The galleries he led us through featured Chattanooga's greatest African-American movers and shakers, prominent entrepreneurs, important local historical events, and much more! I highly recommend anyone who loves Black history and loves Chattanooga to pay a visit to this powerful and inspiring establishment of historical and cultural celebration!

I took my son out during the first half of the show because he got loud. They waited until after intermission when the play had restarted to make a scene and ask us to leave. Could have said something for the 30 mins of the first half or during the 15 minutes of intermission but waited until the play started back to call us out and say that my son was being a distraction. Will NEVER go here again.

Small venues make for an intimate evening of gut wrenching laughter. The Improv cast is very…read moretalented; they're funny, quick, creative, flexible, and actually really good actors. I love that they love performing. They also seem to be very supportive of each other, which, somehow, makes you laugh even more. When the cast is laughing at their own tom foolery, how can you not also laugh? And they have several shows a week! One session was about improv and Steven was the "teacher." Y'all, improv is hard and not for the faint of heart. I like to think I'm a witty person, but I got stage fright/deer-in-the-headlights look when asked to do some basic stuff. LOL. I've then got to see a couple of showcases and these people are funny! You gotta get to one of their shows and see how it's done. If you're really curious, you can take a class and become one of these funny people. This is an underrated group of people in this town and more people need to know about this group.

I am a great fan of Prokofiev and was excited about hearing the Lieutenant Kijé Suite "live". The soloists were outstanding throughout this work! However, I was disappointed that Ms. Dan set the 'tempi' a bit slower than what I had previously heard on recordings. Also the ad stated that various "movie-scores" would be performed, including 'Citizen Kane' and 'The Corpse Bride'. Neither was listed in the program that evening, but I hoped that at least one of these pieces would be presented as an encore. When there was no encore, I was disappointed--a second time--due to false advertising. This is my firsthand consumer experience. Thank you.

My husband and I agree that this is one of the best Christmas performances we have ever attended. If they are giving a spring concert, we will be there! Whatever Chattanooga has to do to keep this group performing they need to make it happen by supporting with their dollars and attendance. I was just so blown away by how poised and professional these young boys were throughout the performance. There were absolutely no shenanigans as they were totally focused on their teachers and instructors. I am a full grown woman and I don't have that kind of focus. They must have been tranquilized! I would guess that the boys were as young as seven and as old as 20, as it was a very varied group. I applaud and tip my hat to absolutely everyone who had a hand in staging this performance it was beautiful! It held my attention the entire time and I loved the variety of music from classics to modern day. Everything was on point from the set to the costumes. It was incredible and you all should take a collective bow. Thank you!
