Free event with love free music, food trucks, and chihuahua races…read more For the 2016 event (the 9th annual event) there were a few hours of live music by pretty good artists and bands. Ruth B was one of the more popular performers, and she and the other sI heard did great jobs. During this time, where wasn't too much going on, but there were some food vendors, trucks, and drink vendors (beer, frozen lemonade, etc.). There was also a first aid and veterinary first aid stand. Especially considering how many dogs there were at the venue, I thought the vet aid was a very thoughtful addition on the part of the event organizers. The event is sponsored and run by Hits 96, the Chattanooga radio station. DJs from the station were the emcees of the event. The main attraction is the dog races. There are 4 sets of bleachers for spectators, but that's not enough to support all the guests. Many of us were standing on the floor flanking the edges of the race lanes. Visibility is very low if you're in the back rows, especially since the competitors are so small, haha! The first round of races takes the longest time. Chihuahuas are split into groups of about 5 and are taken out onto the racing lanes by two of their owners/guardians. One guardian takes the pooch to the starting line, and the second waits at the finish line doing everything to get their dog's attention in order to coax it over the finish line first, thus winning the heat and moving on to the next round. Many of the dogs in the first round seem to be ambivalent, confused, or maybe a little nervous about the race. Only a few dogs each heat will actually make it across the finish line, many will scuttle around their starting line guardian unsure of what to do. First guardians, when sending their dog off at the signal, which do a small tossing of the dog in the right direction, which doesn't seem to faze the dogs. Even though athletic ability was a rare sight during this part of the event, it was fun to watch because of the funny situations that would come about (two dogs almost started getting it on!). Once their dogs fail in the first round, many of the owners and spectators will leave the event. By halftime after the first round, the crowd had thinned out a lot. My friends and I were able to have a much better view, and we were able to get some of the many empty spots on the bleachers. The third, fourth, and final rounds of the races are much more competitive. The dogs involved usually know the deal by now, and there's real excitement and anticipation to see which dogs will win. This half of the races also goes much faster, and not just because the dogs are actually running instead of dawdling. At the end, the fasted dog is crowned winner. There are also competitions for best team spirit and best costume (awarded during halftime, I believe). I know at least one of the prizes was tickets to see Adele. Parking nearby cost us $5, but the event itself is free. There were many, many dogs and not just chihuahuas. I brought my beagle mix, my sister brought her great dane mix, and I saw many other varieties. Suffice it to say: DON'T COME IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH DOGS. I didn't see any misconduct from any of the dogs, but some of the chihuahuas were yappy and aggressive with some of the other dogs. No fights ever broke out that I saw, which was good. All in all, it was a fun event, especially for a first timer like myself. Since I don't have any friends or dogs racing, I'm not sure if I'd go again, especially if it were out of my way and cost $ for parking. I'd recommend it for the fun spectacle, thought.

Not only did they have a variety of sizes but the largest variety of pumpkin types I think I've ever seen in one location! White, green, bumpy, yellow all beautiful, all pumpkin. In addition to all of the festive pumpkins they also had gourds, Indian corn, mum's, and all kinds of Halloween/ fall decorations. The staff were friendly and helpful and the prices were GREAT! I can't believe how low priced the pumpkins were especially compared to what we paid in Florida! We took home 4 beautiful pumpkins and a decorative gourd all for $14!! I highly recommend Weaver's and I can't wait to see what they do for Christmas! This will now be a go to place for us!

The gardens at the Choo Choo are so charming and beautiful that it set the perfect ambiance for an "outdoor picnic/BBQ". We started with a refresher made of Sake. It was smooth and light and perfect for a hot afternoon. From there we started to peruse the various booths for food and spirits. Like anyone, we quickly had our favorites. I attend lots of the food and drink events in Chattanooga, but somehow I had missed this one. Now, I am so sorry that I missed any of them, this was the best food and drink event that I've attended!! First of all it was at the Choo Choo, which is the perfect location. It was miserably hot and I knew we would be able to step inside and cool off if we needed to. The event is set up in a long u-shape. So it's really easy to keep track of where you've been. There is a booklet that maps everything out for you so that you can go back and hit your favorites again! Music is at each end of the event. The first thing I'd like to address is the Sip part of Sip & Savor. Oh my, where to begin. There is something for everyone here! Not only is there plenty of beer and wine for everyone, there is whiskey, gin, and liqueurs. So much to choose from, I started with cocktails, moved on to some whiskey tasting, tried some wine and finished with beer. I know this sounds like a lot, but it was small amounts of each and I also filled in with plenty of water since it was so hot. My husband's favorite was definitely the Redemption Whiskey, he paced out his tasting and we looped back to this table every so often for him to try a different one. Now, let's talk about the savor part of Station Street Sip & Savor. There was plenty of good food to go around. There were lots of different takes on barbecue, I would have liked to see a few more cooler options like salads. But everything I tried was wonderful. It was miserably hot on this day and I still had a fantastic time. If you knew how much I hate hot weather, you would know how good this event was! We spent about three hours exploring the grounds, which were much larger than they appeared at first glance. It was a hot day, but the experience was still enjoyable thanks to shaded paths, cool underground sections that offered a break from the heat, and a few misting stations--Steve even lifted Luna up so she could enjoy the mist too. We took plenty of breaks, stayed hydrated, and sought out shade whenever possible. Overall, it was a fantastic and memorable experience. We highly recommend bringing your pet-just be sure they're comfortable with the heat and that you take the proper precautions to keep them cool and safe on hot days.

The Chili Bowl was delicious but lukewarm. I had the Mistletoe Mule and my mom had a Spiked Cider. Both were great. Buy tickets online and they're $20 per person cheaper! For $24 person, I felt like this was a great value since we pretty much spent the whole day here. I LOVE that there was no guided tour and that we could just wander around at our own pace
