**picture dump** These pics are from the good old days of Shi-Queeta-Lee's Drag Brunch @ Queeta's Palace. Good times! My favorite foodie friend @jonathaneatsofficial and I had an absolute BLAST at this brunch. From the time you hit the door and get to your seat, you have already made a new friend. Great food. (SEASONED and soulful!) Great entertainment. (We danced, sang, and twirled.) Shi-Queeta-Lee has taken this show on the road, so we'll definitely be checking it out SOON. __ I eat. @f.hux I thrift. @dcthriftish

The brunch drag show was quite entertaining. They did Mary J. Blige, Beyoncé twice (before I left early), Rihanna, Marvin Gaye, Whitney Houston, and Cardi B. I was hoping to see them impersonate Tamar Braxton and Nicki Minaj but they didn't during my time there (but I left an hour early). They started with some entertainment as they seated you, and then they have you line up on the left side or right side of the room to get your brunch. They will let you know which side to go to and when you can go based on your table. They had some fruit, scrambled eggs with cheese, salad, chicken fajitas, meatballs, yellow rice, a waffle station, green beans, cookies, dessert bread, and I can't remember what else. Your brunch comes with a free alcoholic beverage (mimosa, etc.). If you want more, you'll have to pay at the bar. They give you like 1.5-2 hrs. to enjoy your brunch, so depending on your company, you may or may not be bored for a long ass time, waiting for the drag show to start. They did and said some stuff that might be offensive to certain crowds, so enter with caution lol. They even tell you that if you get upset, then oh well... too bad haha. Just to give you an idea of the kinds of things they do and say: - My friend's husband's hand was jokingly violated. A performer took his hand to shake the performer's fake boobs and then down to the performer's "safe, flat area" lol. - They'll tease you if you look EVEN SLIGHTLY like a celebrity. There will be free parking to the left (then back) of the establishment. I parked early and didn't realize how they were going to arrange the cars to fit all of them in the lot. It basically gets really cramped, and some cars are perpendicular to each other. Since my friends and I left early, we didn't have to deal with the chaos of maneuvering through parking traffic, but we did have to squeeze ourselves out of the lot somehow. It took me two tries to exit. LUCKILY I had a backup camera to guide me; without it, I would've dented someone's car.

Energetic place to say the least....

Dancing has always been and will be a form of expression....that I don't mind showcasing a two-step......or bustin' a move to a good beat when it comes to enjoying a slice of life! I enjoy and appreciate dance, of all cultures and art forms, but on this particular Friday night at a coworker's retirement party....I truly received a gift. On this particular night, I promised a coworker for weeks that I would attend to her retirement party. Trying to do too many things at once, I realized I was totally on the other side of town meeting up with friends in the U St/Adams Morgan area for a happy hour and was super late for the event. So I got the GPS in order and made it across town to a venue I had never heard of or seen before in DC. What I encountered from that point on....definitely made a mark to experience on one's lifetime bucket list. I witnessed a group of people, dance style and subculture that I had heard of many times before but never seen in action myself...."Hand-dancing and Soul Stepping." This is an old school dance form that has a big following in DC. It is also popular in most major cities like Chicago, Milwaukee, Detroit, Atlanta, Philly and even Dallas! And, for those that like to "drop it like its hot" to this style of dance and music all gather at the main hub --where it all goes down in DC...called "Chateau!" Just off Route 295 in Northeast Washington DC, there's a place where even time can't stand still. It's a nightclub called the Chateau, nestled, between a church and a liquor store....more like I guess the sacred and the indulgent. The Chateau opened its doors in 1967--almost five decades ago. The neighborhood club, is famed mainly for being a hand-dancing spot. This place preserves hand-dancing like a gardener cans' their prized harvest. The music played is old-school soul, rock n' roll and the patron's ages range "50 and older"....to say the least. Even I stuck out like a sore thumb...and I'm not quite no tweenager (or younger...lol). Once you step through the doors, the energy hits you and vibe is high. There was a sea of men and women dressed in their finest fedoras, applejack caps, gold earrings, silk pocket squares, jewelry galore and 'Sunday's Best' outfits! Most importantly, for most of the patron ages-- my eyes could not believe what I was seeing. These folks were getting down!....Dancing for their life and having a great time at it!! I found myself tagging a couple of the songs on Shazam...because they actually were that good and even I got lost in the backbeats of Curtis Mayfield, the Supremes, James Brown, Aretha Franklin, David Bowie, Smokey Robinson, Elvis, Elton John, KC and the Sunshine Band, and the Chi-Lites....to name a few that I Shazamed! LOL Old, a few young folk and even disabled-bodied patrons all seemed to mingle together.....some slap playing cards on the table during bid whist games, spades...while others studying dominoes...the rest came for the main event..."The Dancing!" Dancing certainly remains the main activity, accompanied by the timeless tango of boy meets girl. This I found out first hand. Women gladly had no shame in showing their "cougar prowess" to me at the bar and on the dance floor! LOL The club itself is hardly the most posh in town. With folding chairs and tables, dated club decorations, and two scuffed wooden dance floors...."It is what it is." Snapshots of picnics, BBQ's and Christmas parties adorn the walls..... giving the place the feel of a community center. The dancing may not win any ballroom contests, but the effort and enjoyment....simply put, seemed to be the prize that most patrons seek who make this their Friday night thing. In all, this place was a site to behold and a joy to experience. The energy, surprisingly for everyone's age, was contagious! Under one roof, there were people of all ages and races having a great time in a welcoming environment. Clearly as an outsider, I felt honored to be invited in a world of Old G's and Lady Steppers...that showed me...no matter how old you are....it is never to late to enjoy life! Thanks Chateau for the experience....fun and certainly...change of 'pace' for a Friday night!

We went here to see She-Queeta's Brunch Drag show. It was quite entertaining. There is dedicated parking and it's free. You should arrive early because it's first come, first seated. You'll have to stand in line and then are seated based on the number in your party. Plus, if you're late you'll be made fun of! Make sure you bring cash. I'm so glad I had some because the entertainers depend on tips. Everyone waves money when they are dancing and singing. They depend on our tips.

Dear reader, Crush…read moreDance Bar is such a fun spot and easily one of my favorite places to go out in DC. The rooftop and open-air area is so nice and gives you the perfect place to hang out, catch a little air, and still feel part of the energy, which feels like a very strong social advantage. The drinks here are seriously so good. I always go for a crush, usually grapefruit, while my husband reliably orders the porn star martini, and both are excellent. The orange crush is also great, but the grapefruit is probably my favorite. The fact that they fresh squeeze the juice right at the bar is kind of crazy and honestly feels pretty unique in the District. As for the porn star martini, it is insanely good, and the alcoholic passion fruit foam takes it completely over the top in the best way. The bartenders are incredible and so kind, which always makes a place stand out more, and the music is always great. They also have frequent live DJs in house, which keeps the vibe fun and does a great job of highlighting local talent. Every time I have been, it has been a really great time from start to finish. Overall, Crush is the kind of place that makes it very easy to stay for one more drink and a little longer than planned. I will absolutely keep coming back.

Considering the HH deals across DC, I'd have to say Crush is one of the best on Thursdays at least. I got to try a wide assortment of drinks here too, and absolutely loved the Pornstar Martini. If you're looking to host a private event that offers a great space with friendly staff, I would consider going here!

Okay so hear me out... I enjoyed Live K for what it was. A karaoke lounge. So for that alone, Live…read moreK can get 4 stars. And parking in the surrounding area wasn't bad - about $24 for 3 hours on a Friday night in The Wharf garage. If I caught the parking price list accurately, 0-1 hours was $6, and 1-2 hours was $11. There is also valet options available too. Outside of that, let's step into the inside.... I attended Live K on a Friday night for a friends birthday. She did not book an isolated room but the opened floor was just that - an opened floor, people walking past, mics being passed around the floor, the bar steps away, all of the things. It's fun. BUT, I'm not going to lie - I will NOT order food or drinks from this place. I was told from the birthday girl that there is a happy hour with food and drinks from I think 4-7p but I arrived later than that, and paid MORE than full price for drinks in my opinion...... .....4 shots.... & 1 Red Bull, $124....... So do with that information what you will. I could NOT give this place 5-stars if I'm including REASONABLE prices.

My review is more for my personal experience than the customer service…read more I attended a birthday party here and I had an amazing time with my friends so I can give them credit for not ruining that haha. The location itself is awful but that's the wharf for you. Parking is horrible and the garage is super expensive so the new location at the harbor may be better. We had a separate room and it came with two mics which was fun for us to duet or just share a song with a friend. The database is hard to navigate and a great deal of the songs don't come with lyrics so that was a bummer. Also they don't display the song when you're singing, sometimes it would be random figures on the screen so that was different. My friend ordered skewers, wings and fries and that was fairly solid so I don't have much input there. The bathroom was disgusting. Water leaking all over the floor and trash cans overflowing. I'd come back to the location if I could carpool but with the new location at the harbor that would be easier to navigate for sure.
