Features include 3 upstairs rooms, which are cozy, nicely appointed, and have all the necessary items available. The host is an excellent communicator and provides wonderful detailed instructions for self check-in, WiFi, etc., so guests can have a lot of autonomy. Note: The entry and upstairs hallway are very small, rooms are in very close proximity to each other, and guests must be able to navigate stairs with luggage. This was not a deterrent for me - I loved it and felt like a special guest in a lovely home.

It's easy to get to (right near Coolidge Corner), and easy to check in (even if you're after hours). They have breakfast for you every morning, and you can either eat in your room or eat at the big dining table downstairs. Downstairs is a great opportunity to chat with the other people that are staying at the BTI. I would recommend trying to get a room with your own bathroom to prevent the awkward walking through the halls in a towel moments with strangers. My favorite part about BTI was the freshly baked cookies and snacks they had every afternoon. It was like coming back to a home with all the great smells of food cooking and people happy to see you. The staff here was wonderful - so friendly, helpful and accommodating. They didn't mind that I hung out with my parents at the Inn and even ate some of their food. Another plus is the VHS library they have. They have tons of movies you can watch for free, and they have tons of guidebooks for those visiting and unfamiliar with Boston. Tell all your friends and family to stay at the Beech Tree Inn.

The breakfast was an excellent continental breakfast that included home-baked sweets and plenty of healthy options. When returning in the evening, I often had tea and a freshly baked cookie or brownie. It's close to Coolidge Corner, which has plenty of places to eat out. It's near the T. The wifi was free and fast. I was delighted to stay at the Beech Tree Inn, and highly recommend it.

Each room is on a different floor of the three story house, so you feel as though you have a quiet area all to yourself, but still get to meet interesting people and socialize with the proprietor at breakfast. The room we stayed in (M&M) was very homey, clean, and comfortable. It was quiet at night despite being off a busy street. I can't say enough good things about Josephine's: it was an easy location to find, right near the beach/bay and wonderful hiking at World's End. One of the only minor things was that mini shampoos were not provided (only aromatherapy body scrub), not that I expected any, so that doesn't take away any stars in my mind. Highly recommend!

They were warm and welcoming, and the food was outstanding--most especially the raspberry French toast! Our spacious room was on the top floor, off the B&B's common area. Josephine's is extremely clean, comfortable, and charming, decorated with antiques, old family photos, rocking chairs, desks, and an abundance of books. It's in a scenic area with easy access to the ferry (if you're headed to Boston or the airport) and other pretty areas to explore. Annmarie generously shared recommendations of her favorite restaurants, printed out directions for our destinations, and was also eager to investigate special areas of interest to us. When I arrived at Boston's Logan Airport, rain was falling and the sky overhead was dark and gray…read more By the time I drove through Ted William's Tunnel, past Fenway Park to the 95 North, and connected onto Route 2A, however, the sun broke though the clouds and bathed everything in golden sunlight. Off of Route 2A on Lexington Road in the heart of Minutemen country, I arrived at the Hawthorne Inn, my favorite bed and breakfast in Concord, Massachusetts. The owner of the inn, Marilyn, greeted me at the entrance and showed me to my room. The inn is furnished with furniture, art, and artifacts that are representative of colonial New England of the 19th Century with other kinds of art, such as Japanese ukiyo-e prints, Haitian voodoo masks, and 17th Century Persian helmets, scattered about here and there. Walking into my room, I noticed a cat on the 4 poster bed in my room. It was very comfortable, very cozy. I hung out in my room with the cat for a while before going out to downtown Concord for dinner. After dinner I sat in the sitting room downstairs where the fireplace was blazing and I met some of the other guests in the inn. We talked some more in the morning when we ate breakfast in the communal dining room together. Breakfast included your choice of coffee, tea, muffins and other baked goods, a seasonal fruit plate, yogurt, or granola. Rooms at the inn range from $125 - $325 per night depending on the season. After breakfast, I went into downtown Concord to look for an essay by Ralph Waldo Emerson, Self-Reliance, which I found in a book in my room. In the essay Emerson emphasizes the importance of avoiding conformity and trusting in our own ideas and instincts: "Trust thyself, every heart vibrates to that iron string...." This spirit of individuality and the belief that there is no problem that we can't handle if we apply ourselves to the solution is what attracts me to New England, to Concord, to the Hawthorne Inn. There's a sense of history there where our country was essentially founded, a creative energy burns there also where so many creative thinkers and writers lived. Walden Pond, the Minutemen Park, the old North Bridge where the "first shot heard round the world" was fired are all in Concord. It's worth visiting to remember that "Nothing can bring you peace but yourself. Nothing can bring you peace but the triumph of principles."

The owners were friendly and welcoming. In the morning we got a delicious and plentiful breakfast cooked "on demand". Also, our wish for late checkout was no problem for the owner. We mainly came for the foliage and for that it is an amazing place - maple trees are all over the place! Just a short drive away is a nice little hike (The Rock House Reservation) as well as a pond with a restaurant right at it. Also, the local pumpkin festival just happened the day we arrived. All over - the perfect place for a cozy weekend getaway.
