The second, more solid and legible sign / plaque, gave us a history of how the park got it's name and who she was. The views from this end of the park are nice and you can see the new construction of the Children's Center and the Marina along Lockwood Blvd. Pelicans could be see diving in to the water for breakfast, so we stopped to watch that for a minute. Benches are available for sitting if you are so inclined. Overall, a nice quaint park for sitting and meditating.

There is not a lot of room for kids to run around but it is a cool spot to share with bigger kids who are interested in fishing. Overall though it is a great place, especially if you just need to take a minute or two for yourself.

Geoff is very patient and really helped us get the hang of things We caught some red fish and trout and some small shark (which were a ton of fun to catch). Capt. Geoff was happy to help out with our casting and offered tips when we were fighting the bigger fish. His boat and the gear he provides are excellent. Very high quality stuff. It is a relatively quiet location, alongside the Ashley River, where it is crossed by the Mark Clark section of I-526. It is in the vicinity of the Charleston County Detention Center, as well as several nice business parks, and a number of boat-related businesses. Despite the proximity to the local pokey, the location seemed clean and safe. BE ADVISED: There are intentionally no garbage or recycling bins on site. There is a strict "pack your trash" policy in place. I think the idea is that it would be too easy for things to get out of hand, and then any trash overflow would immediately end up in the river, which is no bueno.

Those who choose to drive in head first need to find a different boat landing, because this one will not support that kind of shenanigan.
