We entered the park from Bull St on to Halsey via bicycle. I was instantly drawn to signs in the…read morepark, which I almost always stop to read. The first one told me about the importance of marshland, but was hard to read because it was very faded. The second, more solid and legible sign / plaque, gave us a history of how the park got it's name and who she was. The views from this end of the park are nice and you can see the new construction of the Children's Center and the Marina along Lockwood Blvd. Pelicans could be see diving in to the water for breakfast, so we stopped to watch that for a minute. Benches are available for sitting if you are so inclined. Overall, a nice quaint park for sitting and meditating.

This has become one of my favorite spots in downtown Charleston. It's a beautiful slice of nature…read morewhere one can find solitude in the hustle and bustle of the city. Directly across from the harbor, it mainly consists of an overflow pond, a fishing dock and a couple of benches under the shade of oak trees. You can relax and take in the peacefulness around you, watch the locals fish, or catch a few yourself. You have to park in the private parking lot of the condos just off of Lockwood, but I have never had a problem with this. There is not a lot of room for kids to run around but it is a cool spot to share with bigger kids who are interested in fishing. Overall though it is a great place, especially if you just need to take a minute or two for yourself.

It is a relatively quiet location, alongside the Ashley River, where it is crossed by the Mark Clark section of I-526. It is in the vicinity of the Charleston County Detention Center, as well as several nice business parks, and a number of boat-related businesses. Despite the proximity to the local pokey, the location seemed clean and safe. BE ADVISED: There are intentionally no garbage or recycling bins on site. There is a strict "pack your trash" policy in place. I think the idea is that it would be too easy for things to get out of hand, and then any trash overflow would immediately end up in the river, which is no bueno.

Those who choose to drive in head first need to find a different boat landing, because this one will not support that kind of shenanigan. Plenty of parking with tall trees to shade various parts of the landing, as well as picnic tables to enjoy a snack before or after your trip out on the water. This is also a decent place to bring your bag lunch on your break to enjoy some silence, while taking in the scenic waterway and watching people put their boats in the water.
