We've found so many different birds here, including prothonotary warblers, northern parulas, hairy woodpeckers, and more. There is a boardwalk over a pond where wood storks nest - it's off limits a few months a year. It's a peaceful and quiet place to hike. I wish there were bathrooms though.

The preserve is located off of SC highway #162 near Hollywood. Entrance to the preserve is free. This is a dog friendly park, so feel free to bring your fur babies! This is a beautiful park spanning 643- acres. There are several scenic trails that wander along the property. Bring your camera as there is a lot to see. The preserve has been set up to provide feeding and roosting areas for a variety of birds, Wood storks, Great Egrets and Blue Herons. You may also see alligators, deer and squirrels along the way. The trails are well maintained and clearly marked. There is not a restroom or picnic tables at this park. However, there is a gorgeous 300- foot boardwalk with an observation deck overlooking the swamp/pond. I had a picnic lunch here as I watched an alligator sun bathe and fish jump. It was so peaceful. If you are looking for a few hours to get back to nature and see beautiful views and some wildlife, you need to add Dungannon to your "Must See" list.

There's only one captain on this boat. I make the decisions. I heard both of those responses from this rude and inconsiderate "Captain". This good ol' boy has no regard for his customers, for women, or for the frightened 8-year-old child who was seasick. He ignored clear signs of trouble (like lightning and thunder) claiming "it's blowing out to sea" (and it wasn't). He placed us in danger and it made for a miserable day. Charging clients $120/hour but not caring a whit what they think or say? Wow. That's nice work if you can get it, and this clown does. But not from us again. We're chalking that $350 loss up to a lesson learned.

Now, with water temps in the mid to high 80's it's not a great time to fish in SC. The only thing really biting at this time of year are the sharks. Knowing this, we decided to go out and have some fun pulling on some black tips and lemons. Those black tips are a blast to catch! Capt. Rob knows exactly what he is doing and helped us have a fabulous day. He is well known in the area and is a fine captain. He worked his butt off all day to get and keep us on the fish and my whole family left with great memories and sore arms (that's a good thing). We are looking forward to seeing him again the next time we are in the Kiawah area.

I'll add that I wanted to rent chair and umbrella. I did learn you have to do that prior to going down to the beach because they are not able to read cards. It wasn't too crowded on a Thursday afternoon 3pm. My grand had a great time. The pier is about 2.4 miles down the beach and you can see it from the park. Life guard is on duty till 6:30 and they leave chairs and umbrella till about sundown. You can remain however long . They are currently 15.$ chair and 25$ for the umbrella. We didn't get anything from the snack bar so not sure what they have or prices. Plenty of parking it seems at least at the time I went and it was $15 and I was told I could come and go with my receipt. There is a ramp for handicap accessibility . It was a very nice day trip.

Golf carts are welcomed on the local streets allowing for easy beach and eatery access especially if you don't have beach from accomodations. There are several public beach access points that do require paid parking in the near proximity. ***There is also free street parking if you dont mind the walk. There is also a state beach park on the south end of Folly thata really nice with showers, rest rooms, gift shop and etc. last best thing about Folly is they allow wind shades such as Shibumi. Go check out Folly, you won't be disappointed. I promise!
