Had a blast catching sharks
Brandon Y.

My wife and I went out for a 3 hour fishing adventure with Captain Mike and we thoroughly enjoyed our time on the water. Captain Mike picked us up at a convenient location from our hotel and took us directly to a hot spot. Within minutes of fishing my wife landed a very nice shark...which she had never caught before...she was delighted. We continued to land some additional sharks and then we landed a very nice 36" Red fish. Captain Mike has a very nice boat and high quality fishing equipment. He was able to customize our fishing experience to what was most important to us...catching some good sized fish with minimal down time...mission accomplished!! We would recommend Captain Mike and Avid Angling Fishing to anyone. Great fishing at a very reasonable price.

Shark fishing with Avid Angling.

He really knows how to narrate a ride using great storytelling that mixes a deep knowledge of wildlife facts and points of interest with local lore in a truly engaging way. He also mixed in lots of hands-on learning, letting anyone on board touch or hold the crabs and fish he pulled from the traps or the many artifacts he had on board. We were also encouraged to give his sweet dog lots of petting and attention. He made sure to give us enough time to enjoy the fascinating and beautiful sites along the way - including a large pod of feeding dolphins. The stop at the island was magical and a great way to break up the journey. We enjoyed a little picnic and taking a long walk along the beach. We also appreciated the great information that we were given in advance about what to bring and expect. All in all, this was a wonderful experience!

Our tour guide, Harry Spore, was very knowledgeable of the area and was able to explain the intricacies of the local ecosystem. We loved every moment of the tour. The views and sights all throughout the tour were wonderful and I wish we had more time to see more. Will definitely do go with this company again for further tours.

We entered the park from Bull St on to Halsey via bicycle. I was instantly drawn to signs in the…read morepark, which I almost always stop to read. The first one told me about the importance of marshland, but was hard to read because it was very faded. The second, more solid and legible sign / plaque, gave us a history of how the park got it's name and who she was. The views from this end of the park are nice and you can see the new construction of the Children's Center and the Marina along Lockwood Blvd. Pelicans could be see diving in to the water for breakfast, so we stopped to watch that for a minute. Benches are available for sitting if you are so inclined. Overall, a nice quaint park for sitting and meditating.

Directly across from the harbor, it mainly consists of an overflow pond, a fishing dock and a couple of benches under the shade of oak trees. You can relax and take in the peacefulness around you, watch the locals fish, or catch a few yourself. You have to park in the private parking lot of the condos just off of Lockwood, but I have never had a problem with this. There is not a lot of room for kids to run around but it is a cool spot to share with bigger kids who are interested in fishing. Overall though it is a great place, especially if you just need to take a minute or two for yourself.
