I recently had the pleasure of dining at Chartroom, and I can confidently say it was an amazing experience from start to finish! The environment was warm and inviting, making it the perfect setting for a relaxing meal. And the decor beautifully complements the waterfront views. My husband and I had a great meal on a Saturday afternoon. He had the Mate's Burger and I had a chicken and pasta dish with tomatoes, spinach, bacon and a Parmesan Alfredo sauce. Both were delicious! It was a little before the dinner hour and we sat at the bar to eat. Enjoyed chatting with the bartender and a couple of others at the bar. We live on the other side of town and tend to stick to restaurants near us, but we will definitely return to The Chartroom! read more

I have tried this place a few times and this last one was truly impressionable. My partner and I came in for Friday night dinner. We were seated outside. It was at least 10 minutes before we were greated by a server and offered drinks. The restaurant was pretty low key and definately not a busy spot. The server started by apologizing. He was nice and high energy. Drinks came and we ordered. My partner ordered the chicken and I ordered the filet medallions. Food followed up in a reasonable time. While I was served my plate, the chair gave out and I eneded up on the deck. One of the server commented that he did notunderstand why the chairs remained in use as it was the fifth time he has accounted for a chair to give way on the deck. The server dropped the fries during this part of our service. The chicken was great. The medallions were so heavily salted, they were not edible. It was a while before I could flag down someone to voice my concern. The served eventually made it back out and apalogized for the food being "baptized in salt". I new plate of food and fries eventually made it out for me. My partner was kind enough to share chicken while we endured. The new plate of food came out hot and absent of any seasoning on the meat. That was kind of the last our our service. Check came and for the privilege the full-price bill. No offers to make up for anything or any management to make any apology for the short comings. I've searched out to find the best "broasted chicken" in the USA. and I have found the top choice after 47 restaurants. Chartroom has the BEST!!!! The location is a perfect spot to spend a warm afternoon on there deck over looking the root river and all the boats. Be sure to meet the owner Dan as he is a wonderful host. Went here with family as we are visiting from out of town. Ordered the ribeye as I was very hungry, the menu list it as medium and that is the temp I asked for from the server. As well as a baked potato My first ribeye came out so well done that it was like rubber. No baked potato When they brought the second one which was cold they warned me that they are Precooked and that the chef if doing the best the can. First, our server, James (great name, btw), was excellent. Very attentive and friendly. My partner had the pasta, my father the burger and myself the broasted chicken. All of us found our meals to be very good. The restaurant has gone through a major overhaul since the pandemic and it is a welcome change. The deck on the river is also an inviting space. The only issues were the flies inside the restaurant. It did not deter us from sitting inside and enjoying ourselves, and the staff profusely apologized. And there seemed to be a TV everywhere I looked. Last I needed while eating was another screen in my face when you have an amazing view right out the large windows. I went for dinner with my family and our opinions ranged from completely underwhelmed to flat out unhappy with our meals. The pretzel appetizer was good, but the tortilla chips and queso was served with stale chips (and the exact same cheese sauce as the pretzel ) I ordered garlic shrimp and it was boiled shrimp (like for a shrimp cocktail) with a little melted butter , couldn't taste any garlic. Very bland. You could taste that the baked potato was old, kinda that brownish yellow color. The side of veggies was good. Fresh and cooked tender crisp. My son's hamburger was a very small sandwich , and was served with completely over salted fries. (He didn't eat them) My daughter's steak was served mid rare to rare, but was ordered medium. And it smelled like it was cooked over charcoal with too much lighter fluid My son in law was the only one that ate his meal. My thoughts are that they need to hire a chef that actually loves to cook. Inspiration and expertise is sorely lacking. I went another time prior to Wednesday night ,for lunch and it was okay. We visited here to see Bat Bennet perform. His performance was outstanding, and we will seek him out at alternative venues. The restaurant was disappointing. They do not take reservations for two. We were told on the phone that it wouldn't be a problem getting service for two without a reservation. Our experience with service was terrible. We decided to eat at the bar since the wait time was 30-40 for a table, even though I observed a table for two was idle the entire time we were there. We were ignored at the bar and gave up on eating dinner, opting to have appetizers on the deck. There were only a couple of choices for appetizers. We had soda crackers and Mahi Patte for dinner. When we turned our chairs to watch Bat, the expensive crackers & patte were cleared without checking with us. Although there were waitresses serving customers on the deck, we were not asked once if we would like to order drinks. At one point, I spoke to a manager about my disappointment with service and was given an excuse that they were newly opened and working out kinks.... interesting... no real apology, I don't know how being newly open factors into giving good service to all customers. Perhaps our lack of boat shoes factored in. We will return in the future if Bat is scheduled for a performance but will look for a friendlier, more customer oriented dinner venue. read more

Poor food, poor service, poor value! cannot order medium rare steak as we were told " steaks are precooked, can order medium or well done". Never have I heard of restaurant pre-cooking a steak miserable meal with extremely high-level of noise. Will not go back. Dined here in 2024 and was much better. read more

Had an amazing lunch at the Chartroom over the weekend. The location is beautiful, the food was delicious and the staff was friendly and attentive! Kids loved their kids meal served in a boat! Where to start?! Great food. Spot on service. A modern ambience and an incredible outdoor space. We thoroughly enjoyed our Chartroom Chicken ( my husband vows it the BEST he's ever had) and on a rather chilly June evening, we appreciated the coziness of the restaurant. This restaurant just reopened under new management after being closed for a couple years. We went during their first week of operation, and I only see it improving in the future. The interior has received a much needed freshening and the exterior has added decks and an outside bar on the river front. We started with drinks and waited 45 minutes for a table. Understandable for a Labor Day weekend. After being seated we ordered a second round of drinks and appetizers. The appetizers came out on time and were very good. We waited another 30 minutes before the waitress came over and said she had forgotten to take our meal order ( ok it's busy first week). The meals came out for 3 of us but the 4 th was missing. We asked waitress and she said she would get on it. After an additional 20 minutes I went to the manager. The fourth meal simply oven chicken came to the table as the rest of us were finishing a full 35 minutes later ( we were comped for that meal). The food was hit or miss and I can't really recommend it at this time. The fish dinner was 5 star, the chicken dinner was tasty but not worth the price for a chicken breast/leg that looked like it came off a Cornish hen. We had two different plates of cavatappi. I had cavatappi with shrimp, the dish was Luke warm to cool on one side and warmish hot on the other as if it had been waiting to be brought out for sometime. The pasta was very very dente and could have been cooked longer. The second cavatappi was warm through out with the same very dente noodles. The dish tasted like a can of tomato soup and noodles, nothing special. This was a 3 star experience at best. The extra star is for the manager who seems to be trying his best to get this restaurant running smooth. read more

Well, went and had dinner, ordered new York strip steak,[29.00] baked potato and vegs, well the steak was similar to a 10.00 sizzler steak house steak. The density of the steak was very loose, low quality beef, the baked potato was not hot, but warm, the vegs were hard and cool. Ordered a martini and the pour was short. The waitress came back three times after the food was delivered in the first 8 minutes, then she could not be found. I'm glad I tried it, but at this point, my opinion is the food is way overpriced, and the service was unprofessional for the price you pay. I will never return to this place. Enjoy read more

What bothered me was the seemingly intoxicated man wandering around with his pit bull off leash. I don't appreciate being nosed by a dog while I eat. I've had the chance to travel around the world and have enjoyed some really great restaurants and some really poor ones. We keep our boat in Racine and have hoped that the new Chartroom would be a good alternative to our favorites. I stayed in Racine a few times this winter and was pleased by the quality of the food as well as the ambiance and the patrons. My wife and I decided that we would eat there on Derby Day. We were greeted by boisterous crowds, but the staff were flying around making sure that everyone was served well. Our dinners were excellent, but I was impressed by the care that the host and a server gave to an elderly couple who had trouble getting up from the table. They were handled with grace and patience. As our meal came to an end, a heavy thunderstorm came through the area, drenching everyone. As we were leaving, the host was escorting guests to their cars with an umbrella. He made sure that my wife got into our car with the least amount of rain hitting her. Don't get me wrong, this is a great casual restaurant, but I have never experienced the level of service that this team provided in hectic conditions We'll be back often read more

The corn and shrimp chowder is super. We also had the fish sandwiches and were disappointed with service and sandwich. One of us did not get our soup and had to ask for it. Also one of us did not get the accompanying tarter sauce or cole slaw and had to ask for that also. The fish was a little bland and the ratio of French bread to fish was way off. Way to much bread. Well we were excited for the reopening. First off let me say the service was great and the gentleman host was above and beyond his job. The place was redone very beautifully and its clean and nice inside. What kills it for me is the food. We ordered multiple things. Appetizers first which were ok at best but what's irritating is your food coming out 5 mins after your appetizer comes . Our main course was very rushed by the kitchen which makes no sense as they were not busy at the time. The burger was not cooked as I asked. It had no seasoning and lacked flavor. It had a soggy falling apart bun and was a big flavorless mess. It definitely wasn't worth nearly what we paid. I'm overall I'm disappointed and if the service wasn't great I'd give less stars. Clean and refreshed interior but service was painful and food was disappointing. Chicken was average - definitely not up to hype and the tuna was awful- WAY over cooked and missing sides. For any server working at a "nicer" establishment, you cannot auction off food like all 12 people are supposed to know what someone else ordered at the table. If this restaurant wants to survive they need to make major changes. Ordered water to drink, was served water in tiny wine shaped glass. This would be fine if you had the service team watch for empty water glasses and fill them. My glass remained empty despite so many servers walking by, I finally grabbed my server to ask for a regular size water glass. Server section was way too large. She was not effective with any of her tables. I watched table after table sit there, wallet in hand, with no bill. Appetizer was white queso, which was good. Dinner was Parmesan cavatappi with shrimp. Shrimp were overdone and so chewy. Cavatappi tasted like plain noodles. Had to add salt/pepper from table to give it any flavor, which I never add salt to my food. Didn't finish meal and didn't ask for a box. It was that gross. This restaurant just opened up and it has remarkable food, specializing in broasted chicken. The accompanying salad was also 5 star. A truly remarkable place on the Racine Marina. The service was perfect and the ambiance with water and music made it nirvana. A must try !!!! read more
