I called Charter Spectrum today to cancel my services due to an upcoming move. During the call, the agent repeatedly attempted to persuade me to stay by lowering my monthly rate. We have been paying $230 per month, and the agent successively offered $190, then $170, and finally $150 as I continued to decline. This clearly indicates that Spectrum had the ability to offer significantly lower pricing for years, yet continued to overcharge me. After I completed the cancellation, the agent informed me that my services would remain active until the end of my billing cycle on May 12th. However, my services were cut off immediately, meaning I paid for a month of service that I no longer have access to. When I contacted tech support to resolve the issue, I was told that my services were still active and was essentially accused of lying--despite providing the error code from my TV screen, which explicitly stated that my account was no longer active. To make matters worse, the representative suggested sending a technician to inspect the equipment, which would result in an additional service fee. read more

I lived in a building with pre-wired Charter Spectrum, so I didn't have a choice. When I cancelled service, not only did they put me through a *mandatory* 15 minute exit interview, but of course they tried to upsell me on additional services that I didn't want and don't need. This location is closed, don't bother if youre trying to drop off equipment. Don't bother with the other location down the street either because it's not a drop off and only provides services. If you ask me, don't send it by FedEx either because ironically sometimes spectrum never gets the equipment. After 20+ years of up & down service from the only cable TV provider in our area, I finally pulled the plug on them. Service technicians and a supervisor have been to our home 4 times this year to try and rectify the problems without success. I will say they have all been kind & compassionate, but when they suggest replacing our 5 year old HD TV with a new one, I can't accept that solution. They make cancelling services as difficult as possible, they don't allow your services to continue if you cancel before the billing cycle end date, even though you've already paid (another lame attempt to delay your inevitable departure). Then they bend you over a barrel on any service you might want to keep (I wanted to retain internet). These tactics come from the top. Charter communications is the worst. They send a new modem that has to be self installed and if it is not installed there will be an interruption of service. Now I didn't mind installing, I am completely okay with this because it was very easy. But now charter is charging me a fee to install my own modem. Seriously charter anything for money. That fee you are charging which was not stated on the paperwork it is ridiculous. Charter really is horrible they charge an arm and leg for their cable and internet. They never offer any specials to existing customers only to new customers. Charter you really need to get it together this is why so many people are leaving and streaming now. Charter has been okay from me. I used to use Verizon Fios and that thing was solid. No complaints except the price got to be too much for internet alone. Shopped around and found the only other provider was Charter and DSL (No dice) so I chose the 30 mbps down 4mbps up package. The download speeds have been pretty solid. My biggest complaint is that the upload speeds are so slow. If you plan on syncing many huge files and are used to Fios like speeds, this was a big let down. Charter doesn't seem to have plans to up this anytime soon. I hope they do. Otherwise I wouldn't have any problems recommending them. read more

I give Charter one star only because I have to give it something. They lack any integrity or ethics. They are the bait and switch scam artists of the century. FIRST, I have been subjected to their predatory phone calls on a near daily basis "offering" me phone service. They attempt to appeal to my being female as a reason for getting said service. I need to protect my family in case cell service is out. When I say I have no intention to get phone service, the pusher decides to say, "Well, when you decide you care enough about your family's safety, give us a call." The audacity, quite frankly, they cannot offer "safety" if their lives depended on it. The phone service is dependent on the Internet and cable connection which is ALWAYS OUT. They offer the opportunity to use your iPad and smartphone to schedule shows on your DVR when you aren't home. The only catch is, they don't offer the cable box that they boast about in their commercials. Bait and switch. Get you to go for their service because of the bells and whistles they advertise in their commercials in your area, THEN, when you attempt to use that service, you are told it's not available in THE LARGEST ENTERTAINMENT MARKET IN THE USA. Really?! And...the search feature is absurd. When I want to watch Star Wars for example, I can't just type in S-T-A-R to narrow the search. I have to select S. Then scroll through literally hundreds of shows starting with S in alphabetical order until I find it. Then, I can attempt to select it, HOWEVER, there is no telling what time it's for, what date it airs. Or which channel the HD or the basic channel. Didn't know how many shows start with S in English, Spanish, Armenian, and Korean in Los Angeles!! Since then, I haven't turned on the box. This is a company that is run like ATT!!! Customer service by title only, no one can do anything that you call and it takes a formal complaint to get their attention. To start off I got internet to fire att to get a little faster because i was paying for high speed and not even close to that was delivered. So i paid 39 a month for 30 and low and behold i get a message that my speed is now 60 at no additional cost. Now i have had that speed for about 6 months they said now it was a introductory offer. Now my speed is cut in half and now I am paying over 60 a month. I call "customer service" and "technical service" and nothing happens except raising my blood pressure. They say I am now provisioned for 30 and they never offered it in the area. If you like being pissed off? Do you like being blown off? Do you like needing to escalate an issue with an outside agency to make a company deliver what they promised. Then this company is just what you would like If you like fast internet...good customer service...delivery of what is promised then don't even think of dealing with these idiots. I was paying about $160 a month for basic and HBO (one TV mind you) decided enough was enough and canceled and returned all equipment in Dec. What is the point of playing the same music on hold, over and over again, interrupted only by the occasional voice message telling you how important your call is? The company has the worst tech support! I called with a problem, was told my router would need to be replaced which was true. The next day a tech came out without being having been requested. He said my router needed to be replaced (no kidding)! My bill came in the other day with a $45 charge for the tech who came to my door. I called and got a total run around. I said the tech had Not been requested and was told because I let him, the charge stands. The tech reported my virus protection was preventing my internet access (absolute lie). We replaced the router ourselves, internet works fine now. Working on getting the $45 reversed, if I had known they were going to charge me I never would have let the guy in my door! Unbelievable! Jordan, I believe he is the sales representative for 90631 zip code, answered my call. Jordan provided the worst costumer service. I tried to talked to someone else but he told me he is the only one in that department. I tried to ask to speak to his supervisor, he told me his supervisor was busy. Called customer service toll free number to transfer service and was told they could not do it over the phone. I was told to go into a Charter office and they could handle the transaction for me there. Spent 45 minutes and drove to Whittier office. Upon my arrival, I requested a change form. I was told by a Mark @ Whittier store that this was not possible because current services were no longer available. Mark was in no way interested in resolving my request other than to up sell the other person taking over the account to a more expensive plan. All Mark kept saying was that a transfer was not possible, contrary mind you to what the Charter toll-free representative was telling me. So since there was no other option Mark got me to just cancel the Internet service all together. Additionally I advised the person moving into the home to not even deal with Charter and to give some other company a chance. Good job Mark, way to keep a customer! I want to start off with saying that this is the first time EVER that I spoke to an agent at charter Communications that wasn't helpful at all. The agents name was jasmine. I was concerned about my bill being so high.. and all she had to say was well your promotion is up. Yes I understand it is up, but normally when I call charter they always offer me a new promotion or they recommend how I can lower my bill. I had Charter cable and internet for 8 years. In that 8 years we had problems EVERY DAY. The internet would drop multiple times a day. The cable would freeze every now and then. I would always call to see about rectifying the situation. After being read the script about how sorry they feel because they understand how awful it is to not have the service promised, they would always want to do a service call. In the 8 years that I had them, we had approximately 14 technicians and 3 supervisors come out. Each time they came out, all they did was talk smack about the previous technician and how they didn't do it right. The supervisors came out and still didn't understand why we had problems. They always said that it was our router's fault for the drop. I went through 4 different routers before Charter brought back their own and we started renting it from them. I'm sure I would have had more service calls but I just can't call out from work to stay home for the day to wait for hours on end for someone to come out. We moved and now I have FIOS. Sweet Jesus! I didn't realize the extremity of the poor service I was receiving. I have been here for 3 weeks now and have not had a single problem. Charter Retention called me the other day and immediately hung up on me when they realized that I was not a happy customer and they didn't want to hear my rants. GOOD RIDDANCE! read more

Whittier Charter Cable has terrible service. My parents have had technicians come to the house often and are never able to fix our frequent internet disconnects and interruptions. We pay over $100/month for service that is unreliable and unstable. Either move to satellite, use mobile internet, or find another ISP. There are not many to choose from in Whittier unfortunately. Time to upgrade infrastructure and get your act together Charter. read more

This provider I've known this as good service,, not until my cousin and I , bills are so much charged ,,, we only had INTERNET got added of STREAMING TV ,,, we got suspended 3 times because the bills are to much till we manage to ask and there u go STREAMING TV they said $24.99 and ur statement said SPECTRUM TV $37.99 . but we told them to pls fix it because we have other cable service and they said yes but no. They can easily and quickly cut your service if non payment made , but if we ask them to fix their ERROR bills , they said yes but honestly never did . It's not FAIR right ?
