Worst company I have ever been associated with. This is the third time I have had to use their service because they are the only option in my area. The internet service is crap and cuts out all the time. The online account system cuts out on a regular basis so that you can not pay your bill. The customer service is horrible. The amount of time that I have spent on the phone with them trying to work out the smallest problems with them is absolutely ridiculous. When I heard they were going out of business a few years ago I was elated! Unfortunately they somehow were able to recover. One of these days they will be put out of their misery though. I never really had problems with Charter, save but a late payment or two (which of course is totally my fault anyways). But after moving to Chicago and having to deal with Comcast, I yearn for the care-free cable days I had with Charter in Denton. And during the couple of times I had to visit this customer service center the employees were all very nice and took their time with each customer so that there were no unresolved issues - yet I remembered I didnt even have to stand in line that long. Be grateful to Charter. Comcast will ruin your life. read more

Service goes down for hours or days at a time, and you will not be automatically compensated for it. If you have a home-based business that relies on the internet for anything, don't use this service. Charter also apparently has serious internal communication problems. Thankfully I haven't had to deal with a call center in India, but despite that they have issues. For one thing there seems to be little to no communication between accounts and billing. I have several times received bills for considerably more than I owed when I had already paid the total bill just a couple of weeks before. In fact, this just happened again! Yes, on the 22nd of September I paid our total cable bill, and today, October 10th I have a bill in hand that says I owe for several months of service. THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. If you can, get something else. For television you'll get a better deal out of satellite. For internet you should be able to get either a better deal or better quality of service from Verizon or AT&T. If you must go with Charter, don't let them get away with anything. Run, run, run away from this company. I have had nothing but trouble with their billing and service. When I moved they did not disconnect my old service, just started a new account at the new address, even though I made it very clear this was a transfer of service. Then, they disconnected my service for nonpayment on the old account. I tried using their online chat, and the person on the other end had such limited English it was a complete joke. At one point, they told me it was a technical issue and had me completely unplug all of my equipment, when it was just a billing issue. I have talked with people who read the account notes aloud to me, and were barely literate, yet they refused my request to talk with someone higher up. It has taken me almost three months to get this straightened out. In the meantime, they turned my account over to a collection agency. This, of course, goes on my credit report. I have spent a total of about 10 hours on the phone on hold with them. I am always treated liked it is my fault. I cannot wait until my contract is up. I would never recommend Charter to anyone. Everyone I know that uses Charter is not a happy customer. The only reason I use them is because my apartment complex provides cable, and they chose Charter. My first issue with them is that the tv guide channel is always wrong. It will say America's Next Top Model is on (my fave), and I'll get all excited just to discover that CSI is on. I've missed shows many times because I looked through the guide, didn't see it, and assumed it wasn't on. My second issue is that they added premium movie channels to my account without my knowledge. Since I don't pay for the cable (my apartment complex does), I didn't realize this until months later. So I went in to have it taken care of. I explained that I did not order those extra channels and was told by an employee, "Well, I know the person that helped you that day, and I KNOW she didn't add those channels without asking you first. I listen to her ask people every day." SHE WAS PRACTICALLY CALLING ME A LIAR!!! I was given the run around for days and given several numbers to call, but I eventually got them to credit my account. read more

Charter Communications is probably the worst company that i've ever had the displeasure of doing business with. Their Internet Service is crappy and they use old cables and equipment. Their Technicians are clueless and could care less if the jobs done right. But the very worst part about them is the horrible HORRIBLE customer service you receive over the phone and online. THese people are rude, don't listen, can't communicate very well because they all speak broken English, and just plain don't do their jobs. One time my Internet service went out and i spoke to at least 8 customer service people over the phone, 1 online Rep. and 3 Technicians came out yet our service was NEVER fixed or reconnected. I ended up cancelling the service completely. It was annoying, frustrating, and stressful to deal with them. And this wasn't even close to the first time that my husband and i had to go round and round with them over silly stuff that could've easily been corrected. Do yourself a favor, save yourself the stress... DON'T USE CHARTER COMMUNICATIONS FOR INTERNET OR CABLE. Life's too short for BS like this. Use Verizon instead, they're absolutely wonderful and less expensive. :) read more

Well, after 11 semi-ok years with this bunch, they are FIRED as of today. These greedy idiots would NOT come off their high horse price raise to keep an old customer. They always did before when I had to play their little game of threaten to leave and then they send you to some reconciliation dept to resign a new deal for same low rate. They think everyone watches tv, needs another phone, i.e. bundling. SO, tried to do their game and failed. Used to work out that way, but not this time. So, they choose to be greedy and not update their half quality systems that would occasionally cut out (at the worst times of course), so they could not only stand some better competition (please someone out there, crush this company), not Berizon, DEF NOT Frontier, who are notoriously worse, but someone who can implement a trustworthy and AFFORDABLE internet service. So, spending more money for useless and (expensive) appendices (bundles) we dont need, is futile. Again, Charter should be null and void. DONE. read more

We had Charter internet & cable tv for a year then canceled because of moving to another town We had our own modem so what we needed to was just to return the tv box and we did in early morning on the day of moving. A month later, we got a bill for unreturn equipment. We got to talk to the Denton local officers and they confirmed with us that they received everything back but Charter themselves owed us some money. In contrast,when we talked to the 1-800 customer service they said we bought equipments from them and we owed Charter money! That's strange, huh? They told us they would investigate this case and we'd know the result in a couple weeks. Another month passed. Today we received not only another bill from Charter, but also a letter from a debt collection company wanting $144.98 from Charter. They have screwed us big time! read more
