They are nice and very pro there, and it is very convenient to my house, easy to park on the street during the day, or I could walk there if I want. I've been going to charm city dental nearly 15 years...ever since my previous dentist stopped taking insurance. today took only an hour and 10 minutes from the moment I walked in, including an x-ray, getting anesthesia, and them doing the filling procedure, and then me chatting with Sadé in the office for a few minutes afterward. She said my mouth would be sore and tender for a while, but it's only been 2 hours and I can barely feel it. read more

Charm City Dental is great. The dentist wears a mask during the cleaning and only takes one patient every 30 minutes, so for those of us who are concerned about COVID, there's only one other patient in an adjoining chair for about five minutes. My only criticism is that they often open their doors at or slightly after 10:00 am, so I'm usually not in the chair until 10:10 am or so even though I'm the first patient of the day. read more

I went to Charm City Dental to get clearance for my upcoming hip replacement. If you are not aware you have to have clearance from a Dentist before any joint replacement (and for many other surgeries). I scheduled my first appointment with Charm City and they were able to schedule me in under a week. That was great. I told the dentist about the surgery and gave the date (3 1/2 weeks from the appointment). The dentist (or technician?) took a look at my mouth and said I needed a root canal and a deep cleaning (scaling). I asked if that could be done in time for the surgery and she said yes (without any reservations). I scheduled my root canal for the next week and the scaling for the week after. (Side note: I was never shown my x-rays. That was a first for me. What's up with that?) I have had dental/gum issues in the past so I was delighted that I wouldn't miss my surgery date. I completed pre-operative blood work and a physical from my primary physician. I'm lucky I didn't complete my EKG. Well I went in for my root canal and was told that I may need TWO root canals that they could not perform and that my gums needed a periodontist. I've cancelled my surgery for now. So, I now have to wait a week to see the two specialists before I can even begin to schedule my surgery again. I'm not mad about the referrals. If the work has to be done, the work has to be done. I'm mad that the first dentist set my expectations in such a way that I went ahead with pre-operative work. I'll have to have the work redone (on my dime I'm sure because insurance won't pay for it twice). It was a big shock when I was told I needed hip replacement but I wrapped my head around it and decided to knock off all the prerequisites and get the surgery done as soon as possible. I went to the first appointment thinking that I may need enough work to postpone the surgery. I was thrilled to find out that I could meet the date. Being told at the second visit that my surgery was now 6-8 weeks away was devastating. The second dentist actually asked me 'Does your hip hurt?'. Really, does my hip hurt? No, I'm getting a hip replacement just for the fun of it. They had no compassion about rescheduling my surgery. They also had no knowledge of what constituted a clearance for dental. It turns out that I can't have the surgery until 4-6 weeks AFTER the gum work is completed. (I'm not sure that they should know this kind of detail but there is no way the first dentist should have given me the expectation that I could have met my first surgery date). I need to contact my HMO to get another primary dentist. I won't go back there. Another thing. When they gave me the referral for the Endodontist (sp?) they gave me the wrong phone number. When I called their answering service (you don't get their front desk) I was told they would call me back in 20 minutes. No call back, I had to call in the next day before they would return my call. read more

I've been going to charm city dental for the past 3 years and I am always pleased with my visits. Full disclosure when I first came in to see doctor wang I hadn't been to the dentist for a while and it reflected in my visit. I had to get a few cavities but honestly the overall experience was quick and pretty painless. Their prices were extremely affordable and what I love is that they get me in an out and back to my day. All of the staff are lovely. Parking at times can be a tad challenging in the ave so I recommend booking a morning apt. Otherwise no complaints and I look forward to my checkups. read more

I really wanted to like this place. It's on the Avenue, across the street from one of my favorite local coffee shops, and just a super convenient location. But man am I struggling to find a decent dentist in Baltimore, and Charm City Dental just isn't making the cut. Twice I've had a 9am appointment, and each time, I've arrived 10 minutes early, and the office isn't even open yet. You can't even get in the door. It's not like I'm trying to show up super early and hang out at the dentist, but being there and being ready to be called back at your appointment time doesn't seem like a crazy thing to do. But nope, expect to wait outside until 9am on the dot when they unlock the doors. Besides the unlocking the doors, I would really appreciate if people would introduce themselves to me before they start poking around in my mouth. I don't need your life story, just your name would be nice. Both times I've visited Charm City Dental, I've had at least two people poking around without me knowing who they are. They are certainly friendly, but I just want a basic intro, please! Now why have I gone twice? Well the first time, I supposedly had a cavity that they filled, but I had to go back because the filling was so poorly done that it was preventing me from flossing. Am I a dedicated twice-a-day every day flosser? Of course not, especially not for those teeth way in the back that are hard to reach! But when I do floss that [ahem] once a day every day, I want to be able to get to those back teeth! Flossing is annoying enough as it is, so this filling was particularly irritating. If I'm going to out in the effort to floss, my teeth better be ready for it! How, they did fix the filling and now I can back to my regular flossing routine, but I've never had to go back to a dentist because they screwed something up. So, please, any dental recommendations in Hampden or Charles Village? read more

Though the dental work and procedures were fine (I think and hope), their administrative work, front office and scheduling is awful. If you have to change an appointment you will wait at least another 6 weeks to find an available date. Also we tried in vain to get copies of our wife's X-rays so another more responsive office would be able to use them but they got them to us. t's convenient if you live in Hampden but I would avoid this dental practice. read more

Today was my first visit at Charm City Dental. I just have to say that is by far the most charming medical offices I've ever been in. It was very clean and the staff was friendly as can be. I had my cleaning on the second floor, it was a semi open area but the set up was gorgeous! The young woman who did my cleaning was fantastic. I could have fallen asleep it was that peaceful. She also offered a fluoride treatment that would help prevent any more cavities plus strengthen my enamel. The doctor is very knowledgable. I didn't know that my previous dentist had used temporary fillings for a cavity that I had. I have another appointment to get cavities filled in February. I am actually looking forward to going back. 5 stars all around for Charm City Dental. I'll be recommending them to everyone I know! read more

I switched my son to Charm City Dental recently, and I can say we are quite happy. He went in for a regular cleaning and was please he could take a little snooze while they cleaned his teeth (he's a teenager, they can sleep through anything) because it was so laid back. We went back to have a filling filled, and he said everything was great. Sade, the front desk ... (I'm not sure what to call her, she's more than the front desk attendant, she's the most efficient and aware person I have ever seen) is super friendly and aware. She is well tuned to the fact that I am a worried mom, but the teen needs space. She handles issues and patients with ease. Parking is usually pretty easy, and I love the text confirmations. read more

This was one of the weirder dentist experiences I've had. A friend told me not to go but they were able to get me in very quickly for a cleaning. The staff was friendly but the dentist's bedside manner was very off putting. I am not particularly nervous about going to the dentist but I don't think anyone appreciates a dentist looking at their mount for 60 seconds and nonchalantly saying you have several cavities as if it's nothing. Additionally, the cleaning was so brief and provided no insight or recommendations. I left and immediately asked for my x-rays. I went to another dentist who said I had fewer cavities and has much better bedside manner. read more

Horrible experience here, with not one, but two dentists. I needed a simple root canal, and the first dentist didn't prep the tooth properly. After months of jaw pain, the second dentist tried to fix the problem, but was unsuccessful and refunded me. They were incredibly difficult to deal with. Switched to another dental practice, and after one appointment with them, the problem is fixed, and I couldn't be happier. read more

Now I'm just another rushed through profit, crammed between appointments because they are always "running behind." Overbooked is more like it. In my 39 years of living I've had many dentist over the years, good to bad and everything in between. That said, Dr. Andrey Doroshenko is hands down the best Dentist/Prosthodontist that I've ever had. His professionalism, care and courtesy is second to none. He removed two wisdom teeth of mine on the fly rather that put filling in them and I'd have to say it was as easy as it comes. Just amazing someone could remove my teeth while I was awake with so little fuss. If you have oral health issues, this guy will stop at nothing short of wowing you and doing everything and anything above and beyond expectation. After my first appointment, they mailed me a hand-written letter welcoming me to their practice and after a cleaning, they even called the next day to check-up on me and make sure I was doing okay. I've seen A LOT of bad reviews for CC Dental. I was nervous to go there. But because I have an HMO and not a PPO it's hard to find a dentist. I didn't really know the difference. But I needed a cleaning bad and I live really close to the avenue, so I decided to give Charm City a shot and ignore the negative nancies online. My experience has been pretty good. Everyone has been friendly. The receptionists were great, the girl that did my xrays was great and the hygenist (forgot her name) was also great. I saw Dr. Wang and she seems to know what she's doing (how the hell do I know, I'm not a dentist). She said I had one cavity and I needed a filling. I went back for the filling and it was a good experience. Doc Wang numbed me up good, no pain during the procedure and my teeth feel fine afterwards. My initial cleaning was also good. There was a noticeable difference from all the tarter on my teeth before and after. I was going to upgrade my insurance to a PPO so I could have more options, but at this point I'm happy with Charm City and I'll be going back. read more

They then took the time to explain everything they were doing and ensure that they were following the proper sanitation requirements. I've been coming to Charm City for over a year now. I love the staff and always have a pleasant experience. I've had a few filling taken care of while I've been a patient there and never had a bad experience. I recommend everyone I know to this dentist. I wish they gave complimentary toothbrush and toothpaste. Floss would be nice too. The only thing lacking is the lack to supplies for customers to take home. Arrived early, taken back late. Staff was loud about nonsense personal stuff and unprofessional. I was told the dental hygienist was with someone else then I was next. I waited 50 minutes for her. It only took her about 20-25 minutes to clean my teeth so why did I wait almost an hour?! Then, she didn't even do good job. I still have coffee stains on my teeth that other hygienists have previously been able to clean properly. And I didn't have that amazing clean feeling despite the polish. I'll never return and suggest you see if Dr. Lawrence Chen at the Rotunda takes your insurance instead. Beth and Alice are amazing hygienists at Dr. Chen's office who make you feel like you have a brand new set of teeth, and that office is personable. read more

I had my first (and last) appointment here recently and am writing my first ever Yelp review because I think people should have good information when choosing a healthcare provider. Overall, the staff were friendly enough. However, the exam rooms have absolutely no privacy. From my seat, I could clearly see into the next room where a woman was having cavities filled. I am one of many people who have anxiety about visiting the dentist ,and the lack of privacy was not helpful in the least. I was not offered a cleaning or any real exam. X-rays were taken, the dentist came in glanced in mouth for less than 30 seconds and said that I had three cavities that would need filling. I was told I would need to make 1-2 more appointments to get the cavities filled. This is not the standard of care that I am used to. I felt uncomfortable and made an appointment with a different dentist, who came very highly recommended, and was informed that I have no cavities, just a filling that needs to be replaced. At my new office, I was immediately given a cleaning by a great hygienist and a proper exam and evaluation by the dentist. I think Charm City Dental needs to re-evaluate its model. The people are very nice but the quality of dental care is lacking. read more

I love Charm City Dental and hope I can still go there with my new insurance. I really appreciate the kindness of the staff, especially Sade and Ambi (as others have noted). The billing people can be really annoying and difficult to trust because they have messed up my payments several times. Sade is a lovely person and really knows how to do her job efficiently; she promptly corrects these mistakes and is really nice about it. Someone from billing messed up my payment about three times in a row (the money was just not taken from my account). I finally just called the office and reached Sade. The money was literally out of my account thirty minutes later, which was awesome. I would give this place a way lower rating for the disorganization with billing if there were not many other very trustworthy and friendly staff there. Ambi is cool. Obsessed with flossing, which is funny and entertaining, and very knowledgeable about teeth. Seems to thoroughly enjoy her job and because of that, I feel I can trust her with my teeth. I have a phobia of dental issues so it's really comforting!! I don't have much of an opinion about dr. Collins. Dentists just don't spend much time with their patients, so I value the other staff more than the actual doctors. read more

This place was amazing and I so regret not having gone to them sooner. They were on time, took efficient x-rays, gave me a wonderfully thorough cleaning, helped get rid of some old retainer cement that's been annoying me for ages, and gave overall friendly and prompt service. Oh, and the building is cute and historic and the ambiance is very airy and warm. But, if all you read is this: Ambi, my hygienist, was the best part of the whole experience. Dr. Collins was nice for the five minutes I talked to him, but Ambi and the rest of the staff (Paris and Sade) whom I worked with were just amazing. You can tell they know how to do their jobs and that they're just good people. Was recommended to come here by two friends, will recommend to all friends in need of dentists in the future. read more

Took a while to be seen by the dentist but overall had one of the best experiences going to the dentist. The hygenist, Ambi was absolutely wonderful. She was very helpful in explaining how to take the best care of my teeth between visits and went out of her way to keep me distracted (telling me all sorts of great stories) while she cleaned my teeth with the cavitron, a tool that I do not care for. In fact when I asked if she could avoid using it, like I have with other hygenists, she explained why it was helpful for both of us and helped me feel comfortable letting her try to use it on me again. I am now convinced that I can handle the cavitron experience because of Ambi's care. Dr. Collins was also very personable and all the staff were professional and kind. I highly recommend! read more

I went in for a wisdom teeth consultation and they helped me with that! The X-rays were pretty easy and straightforward. I then got my teeth cleaned in the same appointment, as well as a filling. I have a fear of dentists but did not mind this place at all. The hygienist was very gentle with me and asked if anything was uncomfortable (which it wasnt). Terrible experience all around. First, when I had a routine cleaning I was told I needed SEVEN cavities filled (never had a cavity before in my life). Then the dental hygienists (who were nice actually) said this doc was filling in for Dr. Collins and was "a little aggressive" in his approach, and I really only needed 2 filled. Come back, a dental student fills my cavities, but there's an air pocket trapped below the cavity so every time I bite down I get sharp pain in my tooth. I've never had a cavity so I don't know it's not supposed to feel like that, but my concerns were dismissed by the doc initially, so I had to call them back about it later. I asked them to fix it which they did begrudgingly and tried to charge me as if it were a new cavity. I fought with them for months about the bill. When I went to get the cavity revision they didn't use enough novocaine or didn't wait long enough because when the drill started going I could feel everything and freaked out. Dr. Collins was clearly annoyed, insensitive, and dismissive. Again the hygienists were nice to me about it but overall the experience was awful and scared me to the point where I haven't been to the dentist in a very long time and am finally on yelp looking for someone better! read more

AMAZING STAFF! Took phenomenal care of my 84 year old Mom who I brought in for an emergency extraction. I found the staff to be very warm, friendly, caring, SUPPORTIVE and understanding of senior care needs. A calm energy in the office and treatment areas were clean and organized. I had a very negative experience at this clinic when I went for a cleaning and filling. My dentist was not Michael Collins, but a young woman whose name I have forgotten. Several things went wrong: 1. She gave me a deep cleaning, which my insurance company said was not necessary and refused to pay for. 2. The entire side of my gums where she applied freezing turned into about 6 canker sores, which took 2 weeks to heal and were extremely painful. 3. She was training a new tech, who used her fingers rather than a tool to hold my mouth open, and the strain on my jaw resulted in 4 months of recurring migraines. 4. The tooth where the filling was applied continued to be extremely painful for more than 4 months, and during that time I couldn't chew on the left side of my mouth. 5. **6 months after getting the filling, it fell out.** I'm going to a different dentist to get it fixed. read more

I would recommend Charm City Dental if you have a lot of time to waste and you don't mind being treated condescendingly. If you don't have a lot of time to waste or you do mind being treated condescendingly, you may be better off with some other provider. To be fair, I have no complains with the clinical personnel. Dr Collins and Amya were great and I produced an all-week-highlight listening to the Bodyguard's soundtrack while numb on anesthesia. I'm up for that anytime. But here's the thing. The non-clinical personnel I interacted with had no issues and was very quick to give me "the look" and insinuating that I'm unreasonable for complaining about them making me go there when there is no doctor to see me. I thought passive aggressiveness was a Midwestener thing, but perhaps I'm wrong. I was "seen" 1 out of 3 times I showed up for an appointment. That's a .33 average, which is not bad for the major leagues, but pretty bad if you're someone who is just trying to see a dentist and has to take time off from work to do it. In my humble opinion, we all should have a perfect average when it comes to seeing your dentist. I leave it to you to judge whether that's unreasonable. So I decided to switch dentists. I called back to ask them to email x-rays to continue treatment elsewhere. I'm still waiting for the files. I may need to call again. That would be the 8th time I call them. For now, I'm at a 7:1 ratio of calls to the number of times I've actually been "seen." I'm close to memorizing their number. It's been a fantastic waste of my time, but I leave with a great anecdote and a couple suggestions for all of you dear potential Charm City Dental customers. This is the first time I receive an early morning call to confirm my 8am appointment, show up to realize that there is no one there. (And by no one I mean no one, 0 persons.) So, if you want to take a swing at Charm City Dental, call them to make sure a doctor will actually be there for you. Also, if you call, make sure to hit the "schedule appointment (#1) option" on your dial, otherwise you will have to leave a message. I left one when I showed up and there was no one there (the first of two times this happened), but no one replied. That's a 0% average. read more
