Charm City posted a cheesesteak weekly special that we first tried on April 14th, and it was excellent. The sandwich was fresh, packed with flavor, and topped with a savory white cheddar sauce on a seeded roll. Everything tasted high quality and well executed. A week later, the special was extended, so we went back and ordered it again on April 29th. Unfortunately, the sandwich was noticeably different the second time around. The consistency and texture of the steak had changed and felt more like frozen pre-sliced beef compared to the fresher, more consistent steak from our first visit. Even comparing the photos side-by-side, the difference is pretty noticeable. It was a bit of a letdown after such a strong first impression, but hopefully the restaurant can find a happy medium if they decide to bring this special back again. read more

Charm City was recommended by a coworker. After a work meeting we went for lunch. We arrived just after opening and the customers were rolling in. After studying the menu with the assistant of the worker I decided to order the super grouper blackened with beans and greens. You are given a number and your food is brought to the table. The restaurant and the bathrooms are clean and will stocked. The freshly cooked sandwich was brought to our table. The grouper was fresh and flakey and cooked just right and the seasoning was done well. I really like the beans and greens. Not too busy on a Saturday evening , which was a little shocking. While I was there business picked up though. The restaurant is well lit, very clean and tidy and especially relaxing. Loved the life sized tree in the middle of the dining room. They have a walk up counter, there was no line so I was straight to register. The young lady at the counter was polite and cheerful. She readily answered any questions and did it with a smile and just a touch of country charm. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich, cooked greens and slaw. The slaw was really nice, fresh and not overly wet. The greens were cooked well but, and I cannot believe I am typing this, they were over seasoned. This made them a little too salty. Hard to believe, but true. The pulled pork...beautiful cooked, tender, not a dry bite through out, and their tangy sauce added a little sweetness to help cut the overall savoriness of the sandwich. My one critique, it didn't have much smoke flavor, at all. I got more of the smoke through smell, little by taste. Doesn't make it a bad sandwich, but that lack of a powerful smoke takes this from what should have been a 5, to a 4. I would also like to point out a young man, who was working the floor (on 02/28/2025 at 6:45pm) as he was truly impressive. He took care of everyone from the drink station to the exit door. He showed an impressive work ethic and was very respectful and never stopped smiling and offering to help in anyway he could. Management could only hope to a staff full of employees like this. Heading cross Florida state on route 60, we've usually stopped at another restaurant for great seafood. We were sad to learn that the other place was "temporarily" closed. We were afraid that this may be more than just a short while as construction and new roads have made access a bit difficult. So, we scoured our yelp app for a place near where we were traveling and that also had seafood. We were quite happy to find Charm City. As well as quite surprised to see their varied crab menu in the middle of Florida. The outside of this place looks like a small old timey shack but inside it's clean and large. You order and pay at the counter. The menu was on the wall. And even though there were a lot of seafood options, they also had wings and tacos, salads, bowls, and a nice selection of barbecue "off the smoker". They have a kids menu, too. I got their soft-shell crab and shrimp po boy. The seafood was fried but lightly battered. It came with two different sauces which I requested on the side -- one was spicy. The softshell was wonderful -- a nice size -- large enough so you could enjoy the crab. The shrimp were plentiful and quite good as well. The sandwich came with chips (they tasted home made) and some coleslaw. My husband decided to get their pulled pork sandwich. It came on a brioche bun and had onions and pickles, too. For sides, he upgraded to baked beans and collard greens. He really liked the pork sandwich and the greens. He said the beans were okay. We think we've found our new "go to" restaurant stop when we are in the area. And we know there's lots more on the menu that we'd like to try. read more

My wife and I stopped on our way from the east coast to the west coast of Florida for dinner. There are food trucks outside which I thought at first was where we were ordering but instead it is inside a building, served much like from a food truck. You order the food and they bring it over. The presentation was nice and the food was not bad! Actually for the most part it was good, the crabby fries which was an up charge I would be sure to pass on next time, they were pretty tasteless aside from the heavy dosage of old bay. Very cute little house on the side of the road with adorable interior decor and friendly staff. The tree in the middle of the restaurant makes it super homey inside. Known as Maryland style, they're loaded with seafood options, crab in particular. They have sandwiches, tacos, salads, something for everyone. I opted for the crab balls as their speciality is the award winning crab cakes but their 6 oz crab cake was a bit too much for me by myself. The crab bites appetizer is still a hefty portion! It was chunky and loaded with crab meat. I got the broiled version and it was tender and fell apart. The sauce was also very good. I also had the crabby fries. Very nicely cut potato slices with good seasoning. The dip topping was a little too rich and creamy for me but the flavors were good. My favorite things: Bbq nachos, crabby fries, the crabby chicken sandwich, the blackened crabby grouper sandwich, the crabby mac and cheese, any flavor of milkshake, and the OLD BAY WINGS are an absolute MUST!!! Pro tip: a lot of their items are 'crabby' so don't overdo it on the 'crabby' items- I would suggest just one 'crabby' menu item for your meal. Not liking the new "shape" of the pulled pork meat--as if pressed into a bowl-cheapens the look, makes it look old and greasy. Didn't like the sandwich pre-dressed with how much bbq sauce I should have. Only chips & slaw sides avoid additional cost mark-ups. Don't like you can't buy "sandwich only", have to buy the entire 2 side platter at $14 (plus tax & tip). Don't like that they don't seem able to fix their drive-thru, that their paper napkins are jammed so tight you only get torn corners of napkins for your meal. (Wet Wipes would sure be a nice touch!) Food was fairly swift at 11:30 but only one floor person when they had a large party of 16 construction workers and a dozen birthday partiers seemed inadequate. Oh--and for a buck more, they'll put cole slaw on your sandwich and call it "Carolina style". I've slowed my visits wayyyy down due to price, no drive-thru the ball-shaped pork sandwich, etc. Had high hopes for blue crab days as originally promised and not at $70/pp. and the killer Old Bay orange marmalade wings they never brought back was a nice twist that set them apart. Found this place today while out working. We like Maryland style food so we decided to try it. They have a nice porch area for the cooler parts of the year. The dining room was laid out with plenty of room for groups of various sizes. Decorations are done in a fun Maryland motif and very tasteful. The seafood bowl I got was flavorful enough but it had eight medium shrimp, four small scallops and a small spoonful of crab and a ton of rice. The only thing Maryland about the dish was the Old Bay. The wife had the Crabby Paddy burger. She enjoyed it and said that it had good flavor. The Kettle Fries were nice but the Mac and cheese was definitely out of a box and we agreed that we wouldn't get it again. Traveling through Bartow today and stumbled across this place. We had to stop in to try it. You walk in and see a cool looking artificial oak tree in the center of the room. It is lit up with Christmas lights and really adds a fun addition to the atmosphere. You order at the counter and the server brings you your food at your table when it is ready.
