We have had this place on our bucket list to try and decided to hit it up after leaving the disappointing Strawberry Festival, wanting to spend our monies locally. This restaurant is pretty cool and there were plenty of people already indulging, so our hopes were high. Three of us ordered the chopped brisket plate, with x2 sides. The menus listed the cost at $17.49 which seemed reasonable. We ordered a few appetizers, some drinks and a plate for the kids (who ate at the festival) to split. They were very short staffed with only two people working the floor, one of which was the overworked (as far as we were concerned) bartender who took our order at a table. The bartender did her bartending and the drinks were very good. However, whoever was working the kitchen did a subpar job; and the bill was fouled up. My brisket plate included sides of onion rings and fried okra, along with cornbread. I personally was not happy with my selections, taste-wise. The brisket was fairly flavorless and seemed "old" to me. The onion slices within the rings were watery, albeit the rings themselves were firm (not much flavor however). The okra, again, did not have much flavor to them and I failed to finish them. The cornbread was nothing special either. The others felt their food selections were "okay", but this is my review and I disagreed with them - it could've (should've) been better. Upon getting the bill we discovered that we were charged $20.49 for those advertised $17.49 plates. There also was an added 'Florida Tea' cocktail that was not only not delivered, but never ordered. I recommend you check your bills thoroughly before paying. This may have been an anomaly, but maybe not. As for me personally I won't choose to return here anytime soon, unless I am outvoted by the company I keep. read more

Overall pretty good I'd say...The place was clean...Friendly workers....Had classic rock playing for music...I got a double smash burger....I'm really not the biggest smash burger guy as I prefer just regular ole fat burgers,lol, but this was pretty good...You can afford what you want to their burgers...Burger basket comes with shoe string fries which were good too. I'd give them 5 stars but the ingredients in their BBQ sauces were not the cleaners ("natural flavors" being one)....That being said the Raspberry Chipotle sauce was my favorite and I put that on my burger....Also, for the mayo freaks out there all they have is Kraft...Yuck ! read more

I'm sorry, but there is much better bbq out there and the price here is outrageous. We needed to eat and this was convenient. Slightly worried when there were hardly any cars there on a Tuesday, but it was mid week. Now I understand. The pulled pork was sloppy wet with juice to the point that the bread fell apart. This wasn't sauce, it's kept moist in a hotel pan in the back and I could find no bark or even a smoke ring. When I mentioned that to the host, she said "yeah, probably not on the pork." The brisket didn't fare much better as it was on the dry side, but enough sauce sort of saved it. Blissfully forgettable. Will not return. read more

Polk County Burger Week adventure day two! This time the Aus you serious burger! The smash burger was sooooo good! Juicy, good sized and fresh, however the dipping sauce actually made it loose flavor. Like burger with out dipping sauce 9/10, with sauce like a 5. The onion rings were delish! They may have been a little undercooked, but the flavor was there! The cashier was a little rude and rushed you, but the owner walked around and was super friendly. The concept of the establishment was a little weird and funeral home type, but I guess it turns into a bar at night and they cater events? One thing that was SUPER amazing was their dipping bbq sauces... chefs kiss. Will we be back? Probably not, but I'm glad we tried it! Stopped in on a whim because everything else in the area that sounded good was already closed on a Friday night... and we were pleasantly surprised. Parking is a little tight so we thought it might be difficult to find a table but there's a good bit of seating on the inside. The staff were all friendly and knowledgeable, too. The food was good! My friend had the rib basket with macaroni and cheese. Ribs were decent, but the mac fell flat. We shared an order of fried pickles which were tasty! Nothing extraordinary, but they were good! I had the bourbon chicken because I'm a sucker for some good bourbon chicken. Typically, it comes with lo mein or rice. They'd run out of both that day so I was able to sub for a side. Listen, that chicken is good stuff! The owner (I believe) was super apologetic about not having the noodles but hey, I got a big bowl of nothing but bourbon chicken and a little tub of YumYum sauce... that is just A-ok in my book! This is all of their sauces that they have and let me tell you what there's some amazing sauces in here sweet ones surprisingly that are very good there's a strawberry and a raspberry that's very good. We also got the bacon wrapped meatballs very good and the brisket mac and cheese egg roll. The place inside is very unusual for a barbecue place... Very nice and comfortable chairs tables and booths. They don't have your standard waitresses however you go up to order and they will bring it to you and anything else you need. Looks like you can take some of those sauces home with you too if you like. I know one thing we will definitely be back. read more

First visit..... The atmosphere is great and the people are very friendly. The food, the pulled pork egg rolls were great! The fried green tomatoes weren't true fried green tomatoes and were soggy. The were red inside and extremely soggy. The double smash burger my husband ordered was over salted to the point he said that was all he tasted and couldn't finish it. He did like the beans. We asked about the food and the woman was pleasant and said she could see the tomatoes were soggy and gave us a piece of peach cobbler to bring home. And also said she agreed about the salt in the burger because last time she ate one, it was really salty too. We will be back to try it again as she told us it isn't always like that. read more

We are locals in Auburndale but had never been. We will definitely be back ! We were given the best service by Amanda!! She suggested their burgers and ribs, bake beans, okra and onion rings. She took the time to answer our questions with thought and consideration. Our smash burger was one of the best I have ever tasted and the ribs didn't even need sauce. The okra and baked beans were both delicious and not overpowering as far as seasoning goes. Their sweet tea is fresh brewed too. We are going to take family there this weekend for live music. We are a bunch of RVers who came here at the last minute with a LARGE GROUP after finishing up the season 2 taping of RV Unplugged at Camp Margaritaville Auburndale. The owner and staff went above and beyond to accommodate our modest group of 23 people. The ambiance was awesome with the great music being played from the Jukebox. We were able to sing, laugh, enjoy great food and share some lasting memories without fear of being too loud. I had the Bracksroom & Swiss burger which was amazing. I don't care that my hubby said his burger had to be better, my brisket & Mac n cheese was amazing, and the pulled pork - that I added strawberry habanero sauce to - was one of the best things I've ever put in my mouth! I had the bourbon, chicken and fried rice. It was terrible. I've had it there twice before and it was fine. Don't understand what they put in the fried rice whether it was tofu or pieces of sponge, but it was covered with a spongy material. Everytime I've been to The Brack Shack the food and service is consistently good.
