We may not be in Texas, but this is my favorite American bbq spot! Soooooo good. Love that they have lobster here too. Service is friendly and prompt, space is open and you have easy access to everything. If you get sliced brisket, you can ask for the fatty cuts. All the bbq sauces are great.... the lobster grilled cheese is now an off menu item, but it's something that's a must. Just a warning though.... the coleslaw is at about a dessert level amount of sweet. It's popular, but not for everybody. Wish there were more places like Gaskins! This lobster roll is so delicious and I thought to order the 3 lobster rolls that they showed their valid offer promotion with picture of 3 different lobster rolls with same prices . I realized that they just show 3 different kinds of flavors but I have to choose one flavor instead 3 different flavors that's what the waitress told me . Noticed it had 4 stars so figured it was good and don't get me wrong the lobster roll was very good. Best bang for your buck though is the 3 meats platter. That wasn't the best I've ever had but wasn't bad. Problem is the service was horrible. Still tipped appropriately but it was dead inside and they all kind of meander around, chit chat, on their cell phones. Had to get their attention a couple times. Out of multiple items, one of which was the free ice cream that comes with your meal. Either offer another dessert or tell people when they sit down. Says they have new management so I'm guessing that's why it went down. Prices are more than they should be for this particular restaurant. Hope things get better for them in the future but to those who read this I'd choose another location to eat at in the plaza. read more

This is a restaurant where you order and pay and then sit down and they bring it out to you. I ordered the petite ghetto lobster roll with garlic butter and for my side I got the lobster bisque. I thought the lobster was really good. I don't eat the roll, so it is a light meal. Only two ounces of lobster meat. I got it with the lobster bisque, which was really tasty. My brother Jonathan got the fish & chips with a side of barbecue beans. He thought the fish was made from an inferior fish and it was a bit dry. His barbecue beans were tasty, but quite oniony. Pro tip; We sit in the cushioned seating with the pillows. There are some uncomfortable seats with no padding or pillows. There are TVs with no volume and closed captioning. Overall, it is a good place to go, but keep in mind it is on the pricey side. I'm not sure the value is always there. read more

Unfortunately, only a matter of time before this restaurant closes. We've been a regular here for some time and have enjoyed their good food but now with the change of ownership the PRICES HAVE DOUBLED! It was simple, you walk up, order, sit down, and the food comes out. Now they have changed to "full service" which in our experience means seeing 3 young girls sitting in the back on their cellphones! They include a nice feature of some ice cream at the machine, but the help closes that down early (for their convenience). Also, two of our favorite, fish & chips ($32) and lobster roll ($52), have DOUBLED in PRICE which is absolutely ridiculous! The Lobster food truck is still charging $25 for the same or maybe even slightly better lobster roll. They have also changed their delicious brioche rolls to something bland tasting. I'm sure the new owner has a mortgage to pay, but we're not willing be a part of that. Too bad, we liked this place before. read more

The lobster roll had decent flavor but was small and chewy. The baked beans were VERY spicy. Sweet potato fries were decent. Free ice cream was nice but it was just one bland flavor. You order inside, like take-out, then they bring your meal to your table. It's a bit pricey and drinks are ordered separately. In summery, the meats were delicious (I had brisket and wings; my partner had the lobster burger); the sides were not good at all. I didn't finish any sides: the potato salad was runny and no sides had attractive flavors. The cornbread was good. This place doesn't disappoint. I've been here a few times for dinner and the food comes out in less than 10 minutes. It's a spacious place, has seating option of booth or regular chairs. Each table has at least 2 different sauce and a paper towel (it's most likely needed.). So far the meats are juicy and delicious. We had to try this place out! Got 2 Connecticut Lobster Rolls and 1/2 rack of ribs w 2 sides (Cole slaw and baked beans) that my husband and I split. There were 5 ribs and was a decent portion..could have been juicier though. Beans had pork in them and a good flavor. Cole slaw was okay too. We asked for corn bread but somehow got sourdough toast instead. The staff is very attentive and Cali got us some cornbread when we brought it to her attention. The place is clean, bright, and easy to find; they are located next to the movie theater in Lakeside Village on Harden Boulevard. The workers who helped us were friendly and efficient. You order at the counter and then sit; they will bring the food to you. You serve yourself drinks and plastic ware. They have mostly barbecue and a selection of lobster rolls on their menu. We were there because the owner posted on Facebook that the Special this weekend was Ipswich whole belly fried clams. The Ghetto Lobster roll is perfect. The lobster (claw meat!) was so tender and flavorful. We savored every bite. The clams? They made me so nostalgic for my childhood eating clams from a shack with my parents up in New England. The coating is very thin, the clams fried so expertly that every belly melted in my mouth. They tasted like the ocean. Fresh, clean, hint of saltiness. (They were also totally grit free!) The White Cheddar Mac & Cheese is a premium side and definitely worth the $1 up-charge. Delicious! For the platter, the chopped brisket had a few too many fat chunks, but my husband raved about the ribs and the green beans. I had the Ghetto Lobster Roll and Sweet Potato Fries. This was a good quality lobster roll. A soft lightly toasted bun was filled with meaty, tender and briny lobster meat with a hint of flavorful garlickiness. The fries were lightly sweet and soft with a crisp outside. So, I am torn with what to rate this restaurant. I'd say more of a 3.5/5 is adequate. The food is decent but not a great value. Please note: I am only rating the lobster, not the bbq. We've been here a handful of times-- we go when we are craving a lobster roll, but want to stay local. The lobster rolls are pretty good. Like really-- better than you would expect. They are also really small. Like smaller than what you would expect, given the price. The lobster rolls are basic hot dog buns, not brioche. The lobster is decent. Not fishy. The Ghetto is my fave, followed by The Maine. You will want to eat two- but you probably won't want to pay for two. 2 lobster rolls, 2 sides and 2 fountain drinks will set you back $60+. This is a good place to go if you want a lobster roll, have a wad of cash burning a hole in your pocket and are hungry and want to stay that way. Jk... but not really. This is not a sit down place, it's quick service and they bring stuff out to your table. The staff has always been really friendly. Ambiance is pretty quiet. Fantastic! My husband and I stopped in here real quick before we continued our drive back to Tampa and omg what a pleasant surprise! He loves BBQ and was very excited. I'm not a huge BBQ person so I got a cheeseburger. He was super happy with everything, I loved my burger and I even tried his pulled pork and it was very tender and the flavor was very nice. All in all the food was bangin and the price is right, this was one of the best cheeseburgers I've ever had in my life. And I eat a lot of cheeseburgers.
