Overall, this place was fine. It was clean and there was no line when we went to order. The guy who took our order was nice. The queso was good, my kids liked it. The guacamole may have been made fresh that day, but it definitely wasn't made to order. I prefer more chunks in my guacamole though. So good and friendly! After a long day of moving, we were looking for something delicious to end the day with, we found it at Hacienda. I had the fajita chicken chimichanga and my friend had the chicken mole. Oh my we licked the plates clean. The crew working were very friendly and attentive. Since I live in a rural area I am often task to pick up lunch or dinner. I can't even get food delivery to my house. When I was done with my errands I sat in the parking lot in Lakeland trying to figure out my choices in Bartow. I do this so I can order in advance, pick my food & by the time I get home it's not cold. I went on my Yelp app and enter my city and got a list of places. This restaurant is family run & own. The kids are taking your orders, serving your food, & ringing you up. I order carne asada & the giant burrito. The burrito was huge. My asada came with rice, bean, freshly made tortillas. You have a choice of corn or flour tortillas. I also got guacamole. The giant burrito comes with bean & sour cream. You also get a bag of chips. Which was nice touch cause other places charge extra. I felt my meal was made fresh. I felt my guacamole tasted like it came out of a can. Not fresh at all. My husband only ate half his burrito since it was huge. He ate the rest for lunch. First time eating in downtown bartow after having read about some great authentic Mexican food. This was not the place we heard of. Came at dinner time on a Saturday and there was only a handful of diners. That should have been our first clue. Those that were there were seated outdoors, which is likely the best part of this establishment. The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. I had a dinner duo with an enchilada and chile relleno. The rice wasn't cooked thoroughly and was dry. All the food was warm, not hot. You can see the cheese isn't ooey are you gooey melted. Service was fine, but I know that they have a service fee for both credit and debit card at the server did not mention it at the point of sale. Would not need to return here. read more

Marginally okay Mexican food and decent service. It was me and four preteens for an early dinner on our return to Vero Beach. Debating whether to leave two or three stars, I decided upon the former due to several undisclosed upcharges on the final check. Two of the preteens ordered the kids cheeseburger, with French Fries. Burgers were overcooked and fries were cold. The offered cheese dip had an undisclosed upcharge of $2.00, and an undisclosed upcharge of $1.00 "per person" - a charge that was not added to the adult meals. A third preteen ordered the kid quesa polio that had the same upcharges for a marginally okay meal. The last of the preteens ordered an adult meal - a Burrito Mexicano and the Tortilla soup. Soup was tasteless and seemed to have a greasy film across the top of the bowl. Burrito was tasty and properly prepared. My order was simple - a bowl of Carne Estilo Jalisco soup. Steak taco meat, pinto beans, grilled onions and cilantro, served in a green broth, with a side of corn tortillas. Served warm - rather than hot - I was not particularly impressed. While the soup itself had a decent flavor, it was served warm with a very well-done steak meat. Menu offered $1.50 kids drinks - they were charged $2.49 for iced tea and $2.99 for soda. Admittedly, I did not notice this until reviewing the final check later that evening upon arriving home. Plenty of chips and picante while awaiting the meal and Carolina was a polite and friendly server. Kids, though, would have been better off ordering an adult meal as it would have been less expensive, absent the $3.00 in upcharges per meal. read more

The chips are the way I like them and warm. One downfall is the chips and salsa are not unlimited. The first bowl is free but additional ones a a dollar and the salsa is only half full. I have the enchilada verde which was good. The beef was tender and tasty but no side although the portions were large I have to say. My friend had the pick 2 which was a taco and a burrito as her choices, again the portions were big but she ordered the chicken burrito but received beef. I'm torn between giving Hacienda 2 or 3 stars. I've only been here twice, but I'll give it 3 since, I agree, 1. the salsa is amazing, 2. so are the mango margaritas and 3. I think I ordered badly that night for my taste. I got the chicken chimichanga, it was large and filled with mixed meat chicken. I was a little puzzled by the flavor, I couldn't tell if it was mixed both white and dark meat flavor or if it tasted microwaved to me. However I would go there for the Sopapilla anytime, delicious fried dough chips drizzled with honey and Cinnamon and served with vanilla ice cream! Awesome! My second experience I came with a group of 7, although there were a lot of people this Monday night, not a lot were eating, apparently they host Monday night poker. My food was just ok, I tried the enchiladas, one beef, one chicken, one bean and one cheese, all okay except the cheese was hardened, not melty gooey goodness I'd expect of Mexican food. I've visited Hacienda Mexico on multiple occasions and have always had a good experience. The restaurant serves an extensive number of Mexican dishes at reasonable prices. On my most recent visit I had the Mole Chicken and it was delicious. The Chicken was very tender, the mole sauce was flavorful, and the complimentary chips and salsa was addictive (I asked for refills at least three times). On lunch break 3/18. Seated on patio. Took 45 minutes to get food and it was wrong. Had to get box, check and complained to waitress (which I had to get twice to take our order) that I was not impressed with restaurant and it was also my and my coworker 1st time there and we wouldn't be back. She started speaking in Spanish to herself and I'm assuming she was cussing or complaining about my comments to her. My wife was Mexican in another life. Mexican food is not my favorite, but I'll eat it. I can tell the difference between real Mexican food and Chilis. This place is the real deal. The sauce they bring you with the chips is bland. Just right for the weak stomached gringos. Ask them to bring you the "good stuff". Keep the Rolaids handy. Service was ok. We were seated outside and the waitress didn't come to check up on us after bringing the meal. You know, the "is everything OK" check. But she was pleasant and we really didn't need anything. This was a fine Mexican food restaurant decorated in fiesta colors with nice murals to make it "homey". Waitresses are in colorful embroidered blouses. The service and staff was 5-star--fast, accurate, efficient, knowledgeable of the menu and smiling. I love that my waitress had the rare sense of timing--to keep the drink glass filled and bring the check in a timely fashion. The place was bustling with over 35 patrons and EVERYONE working appeared happy and quick. Food came out fast which was great for the working crowd. It made me wonder about what was made in advance and reheated. The food was typical Mexican--rice and beans tasted like everywhere else, nothing "stellar". Complimentary chips and salsa tasted great. Coke products. I ordered the chile relleno and a bean burrito "dual combo" which came with rice. Here, the relleno comes as cheese in a banana pepper on top of a meat if you want the meat. You can upgrade for 50 cents to a poblano pepper but they can't guarantee hot or mild. (All other rellenos I've had are mild poblano.) It was flavorful but on the small side. The burrito was like any other, smothered in sauce and cheese. The price for two was $8.74 with lunch drink included. This was not a bad "platter" price. Delicious sizzling fajita platters came out (steak & chicken) and the tortillas looked wonderfully soft. They had five soups I'd love to try. Most dishes were around $10. Didn't see a "sides" option like other restaurants. Despite super service, my "flat" 3 star rating indicates the food as average-- I had stomach discomfort throughout the afternoon that post-adjusted the rating as only "ok". read more

Traveling through this town and was looking for a Mexican food restaurant. Yelped this place a mile or so off the highway so we gave it a try. Ordered Shredded beef flautas, super nachos, & a kids chicken burrito. The flautas were very good. The meat was excellent and the deep fried tortillas were good. The nachos were very plain & had ground beef and hardly anything other than lettuce, tomato, & guacamole. Kids burrito had white meat chicken and he liked it. The rice and beans were flavorful. The Horchata or rice water was too weak and no consistency or flavor. They had Mexican beers but this time I didn't indulge. The service was really good from a nice server. Go back again? I came here today excited to have a great meal, like many times before. I ordered the lunch special, a taco salad. I also ordered an Horchata to drink. My food arrived quickly and I was greeted by a one to two Roach Nymphs (baby roaches) on my food. They were crawling in and out of my olives. Because of the dim lighting, I wasn't sure at first what it was. The young man rapidly assured me it was an ant, as if to lure my attention from the cold hard reality. But I remained focused and I could clearly see what is was. I uttered it is a roach and he offered to bring me another one, salad that is. I told him not to bring me anything as I know baby roaches hatch by the thousands. The young man later returned to inform me that he took the taco salad off my bill, as if he was doing me a favor. I did not drink my Horchata nor my water once I became aware of the full time residents. The restaurant did not offer to comp my drink not did I ask. I simply paid and have chosen to inform you fine folks so you can prevent having an extra crispy taco salad. I would rate zero if it were possible. P.S. 4 of us dined here tonight for the first time and found it quite delightful. The atmosphere is warm and festive at the same time. We were greeted warmly and quickly with warm chips and excellent fresh salsa. We all ordered something different, chimichanga , quesadilla, fajita burrito, and tamale and chili relleno.
