I've used these guys twice to tow a difficult and semi-exotic car with suspension issues that make it difficult to tow. The drivers are first class professionals with compassion and dedication. Both times just happened to be in inclement weather and no grumbling. Yes, the guys/gals in the office have accents, but we're in the SOUTH in case y'all didn't notice. 90 bucks for two guys in two trucks ( the rollback wouldn't work so they sent a dolly and wrecker) to go 15 mi or so, reasonable. I've used the towing company that one of the largest Ferrari dealerships on the east coast uses ( not for a Ferrari tho, lol) and these guys are as good. read more

rude phone call when I needed help on the side of the road stranded and already stressed and sad. condescending and not understanding at all. After the towe instead of getting my credentials over the phone the dispatcher had someone take a picture of the card itself very uncomfortable with this. The payment hasn't even gone through yet but I am disabling my card and using another one to pay. That is not okay. The receipt I was given was also blank. I took a picture of the original for my record instead of taking it cuase I didn't know if that would cause conflict. I just wanted to get in get my dogs out and sleep it was late 9-9:40 and the car breaking down was already stressful enough. read more

Avoid this place at all costs. The people working here are downright horrible. I've never been spoken to so disrespectfully in my life. I'm a 19-year-old girl who walked two miles to pick up my car, and when I got there, I didn't see the "STOP - GO TO OFFICE" sign because I came from the opposite direction on foot. Instead of helping me like a normal human being, a grown man started screaming at me from across the lot: "DID YOU NOT SEE THE F*CKING SIGN? YOU CAN'T COME IN HERE. GO TO THE OFFICE DOOR, DAMN." I calmly told him I was sorry and hadn't seen the sign, and I said, "There's no need to yell, sir." But he kept going, shouting, "I'M HALF DEAF, I'M NOT YELLING," and then, "YOU'RE NOT SMART ENOUGH TO READ A F*CKING SIGN, GODDAMN." , This wasn't just rude--it was straight-up verbal abuse. No excuse. No professionalism. Just pure hostility toward someone who made an honest mistake. Especially from a grown man entirely bullying a young woman. To top it off, he tried to overcharge me--$120 for a tow that had happened less than 24 hours earlier, even though I called beforehand and was told it would be $85 if I came before 4:30 p.m. (which I did). This all happened before 10 am, as it was very recently towed. I don't care what kind of day you're having--this is not how you treat people. Especially not a young woman just trying to pick up her car. There is no excuse for that kind of hostility, no matter what someone may be dealing with personally. This is not the Marine Corps, and customers are not your subordinates. Beware of this company's unprofessional and aggressive conduct. Absolutely disgusting behavior. Our car broke down unexpectedly at Walmart this week in 92 degree weather and right before a heavy rain. We called Charlottesville Wrecker Service and Jamie came right out within 30 minutes. He immediately asked if me and my daughters wanted to go ahead and sit in the truck which had A/C since in was very hot out and we were stuck parked in the sun. He got our car loaded up quickly even though we were in a very tight area of the parking lot. Aside from the great service, we had great conversation on the way home and awesome jokes which helped lighten our mood about the day. The charge was only $75 to get from Walmart to JPA area. I would definitely recommend for any towing needs, especially Jamie in particular. It really makes a difference in these times to get service from a person that actually cares and wants to make a great impression. Thank you! read more

THE WORST EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD!!! After calling the dispatcher to get my belongings out of my car, she informed me it was a $35 to open the gate after hours fee which we agreed. When I arrived i called the dispatcher back to let her know i was there. She stated she would send someone down to open the gate. Within five minutes a gentlemen arrive to open the gate for us. As we were gathering our belongings from vehicle, another gentlemen arrived being very abrupt and rude. He said we were trespassing because we didn't pay the $35 which when we arrive the gentleman that let us in didn't ask us at the moment for the $35, I tried to explain to the gentleman that I was going to pay the $35 and that I knew about the $35 but he was so rude and so abrupt with us. He was very unprofessional. I would not recommend this towing Company. The employee that I had to deal with it was very unprofessional and rude, and does not know how to communicate. read more

I was visiting from out of town and wasn't prepared for icy conditions. My car was stranded in a side yard (via my own attempts to build momentum to return to the road from an icy driveway). This happened on a Friday morning during a busy ice storm weekend. I couldn't even get USAA insurance to answer my request for covered towing service. I decided to contact a local company instead and deal with them directly. I'm so glad I did. The Charlottesville Wrecker Service dispatcher did not promise they could do anything - but said they would come by and see. Within 20 minutes, Paul Jones pulled up in a tow truck, assessed the situation and had to use two positions to winch my car out. He was quick, courteous and professional. My car was back on the road in less than a half hour! And the cost was so reasonable - I didn't mind paying out of pocket. HIGHLY recommend Paul and CWS. Awesome service! read more

Last winter when we had one of our vicious, multi-day snow storms, I foolishly attempted to head out in the snow. Even though I have a four wheel drive vehicle, it turned out to be a bad idea. Long story short, I ended up sliding off the road and blew a tire out, not too far from their location on East High Street. I didn't have a spare at the time, so I definitely needed a tow. Their number was the first to pop up when I searched towing service, plus I have seen their trucks all over town over the course of many years, so I gave them a call. They got there quickly even though they were extremely busy (obviously due to the adverse weather conditions). Got me all hooked up, and towed me to a nearby autoshop. Excellent service, they are my new go-to if I'm ever in need of a tow. read more

My experience with this establishment started with an accident. Thr police offered to call the first available wrecker service. I advised the officer that I had AWD so that the correct wrecker would show up. When the driver got there he had a hook and chain tow truck and I politely let him know it was AWD. He gruffly responded with I know. When he hooked my vehicle up part of his equipment had a flat so he had to put air in the tire. He didn't speak to me for the duration of the experience and never supplied me with info on the business or the location to which my vehicle was towed. Thankfully I had the foresight to give the info from the side of the truck to my insurance agent, whom I was on the phone with. The accident was Friday, on Monday I tried to call and have the vehicle released to my insurance company. Thr lady that answer answer phone was unpleasant and just as gruff as the driver had been on Friday. I asked her 3 times during the call to release the vehicle to which her response was I needed to come get ALL on my personal effects from the vehicle and remove my license plates before it could be released to the insurance company. Later that day my insurance representative called and she was told I had never called and released the vehicle to them. In addition when she asked for information about the storage fees the representative helping her protested having to get up from her desk to retrieve the information for her. Upon being told I had not released the vehicle my agent called me. When I called back I was told it was after hours and I would have to call the following day. When I asked if they could take a message for thr following day I was told that was not their practice. The following day I had a friend drive me the 30 minutes to their lot to speak them in person. When I asked why vehicle still had not been released to my insurance the lady acted like she didn't know what I was talking about l, but then again tried to pressure me into cleaning out my car and removing my license plates, which my insurance agent told me not to do unless they totalled it. The whole experience was over complicated, stressful and the most unprofessional experience I have with a tow company in my 20+ years of driving. read more

I wouldn't recommend these people to anyone. The customer service was non existent. We were JUST stranded on the side of the road and the lady was hardly understandable over the phone. She was very rude. Finally, the lady priced us on the phone and then when then the older man came to pick us up he hardly said a word and was acting really weird. Finally when we reached the destination to where the car needed to be towed; he said we owed $40 more than what was priced to us. He said we had to pay extra mileage bc he had to go out of his way to get to us. How is that our problem? They priced us at $40/hookup And $3/mile from where our car was to the final destination. When I addressed the issue with the price and questioned it, he threatened to keep our car until we pay up. We never said we wouldn't pay we just questioned why the Price was so much higher than what she priced. I called in to the older lady and she started yelling at me when I told her the issue and questioned what was going on. I told Her she needed to be more clear in pricing and not hide extra fees that MAY be added. She continued to yell so I hung up on her. We paid them all that was due, but I would never use them again. EVER. I would Rather walk home. read more
