Poor management and quality is a miss. Jill messed up my color taking my hair to an unfalttering, cheap looking white blond several shades lighter than what I had wanted even though I had provided a color swatch and several photos. While the manager allowed a re-do, Jill had an outburst at me and told me she didn't want to do my hair becasue "we weren't on the same page (huh?"). The prices are too high to have your hair runied by a bad color job and instead of valuing my business they defended an immature, unprofessional stylist by an equally immature manager. Just got a great recommendation somewhere else from someone whose hair looks lovely. Not worth the price or hassle. read more

Booked an appointment with a level 5 stylist named Brittany. I sent pictures to them of a medium chocolate brown hair color. I got bright red hair. They will not fix this issue and take the red out of my hair. They offered 20% off of my next appointment. But I will need multiple sessions to take this color out. We had a poor experience. It's been covid-times for almost 18 months, which I appreciate adds challenge to everything, but most of the hiccups we encountered seemed to come more from a lack of professionalism, attention to detail, and customer service, than from covid. I liked that the salon offered on-line booking, but after a couple of attempts to book an appointment ended in system errors, I phoned. There was confusion on the phone because appointments that looked available on-line, weren't obviously available in the receptionist's system. We eventually made the appointment, but it took a solid 15-20 min. We checked in. The haircut was for my daughter; I asked if I could wait while she had her cut. The receptionist brusquely informed me that maybe the stylist could find me a place. Okay... no big deal, I'll ask the stylist. But I'd expected a warmer reception. What led me to write the review, however, was that my daughter's stylist was neither professional nor skilled. The first thing she said was that the appointment we'd booked was too short, and that she wouldn't be able to complete the haircut. We had a 45min slot. I'd been clear on the phone that the hair was well below the collarbone. Not sure why this was a problem. Then the stylist told her that the style, which she'd brought pics of, wouldn't look good on her. It was basically a refresh of the cut she already had, so this seemed odd. She's worn this style for the past few years and she's always gorgeous right after her haircuts, all blown out... It's just long layers with curtain bangs angled away from her face... nothing weird, and she's got great hair. I don't like that a hairdresser told my teenager that the style she favors is going to look bad: it wasn't constructive; it wasn't kind. When my daughter asked questions, she got answers like, "Well, I'm just saying... it's not going to look good." How to shut down a conversation. I wish I'd lingered, but since there'd been no place to sit I was outside. The stylists nails were long and kept poking my kiddo in her face and scalp. Her top got drenched and was soaking wet after she was done. The back of her hair wasn't even; I'm going to have to trim ends after she washes it... The interior of the place is lovely and from the good reviews I was hoping we'd found a cool new salon, but alas, the search continues. read more

I went for a haircut and had a few idea pix that I was ready to discuss with the hair dresser. When I asked the stupiat about one of the haircuts ( the one that I was really interested in) her reaponse was "I don't do that hairstyle, if you wanted that you should have stated it in the notes when you booked the appt." I really did not want to have to write this review. I tried multiple times to give this salon the chance to make it up to me, but in the end, I left unhappy with how it went on my wedding day and unhappy with my hair. To begin with, I was booking all of this from a distance of about a three hour drive. I mentioned this over email several times. First trial: They failed to book the make up artist for the trial that I drove 3 hours for. I was unhappy with the fact that the stylist was unable to replicate any part of style I wanted. I specifically did not want large barrel curls. I left with large barrel curls and burst into tears when I left the salon. It didn't even look like my hair was done by a professional. I was told my hair wasn't curling right because of how it was cut, which is not a thing I had ever heard before. I emailed and the booker asked if I still wanted a make up trial. As someone who doesn't normally wear make up it was extremely important for me to see it before the day of my wedding. The booker scheduled me for a make up trial and offered to comp a 2nd hair trial because I was so unhappy with how my hair turned out. Flash to an email from the salon manager who is taking over my booking instead of the booker. Apparently the booker was working for both salons and it was overwhelming. Okay, I'm still willing to give them a chance. Second trial: I drive three hours again, getting up at 6am and in the car by 7 to get there by 10:30. The clock ticks by and it turns out they told the make up artist to go to the wrong salon. So I have to sit at the salon for an hour, get my hair trial and then get my make up trial. At this point I'm about a month and a half until my wedding and I'm kind of at a loss, but I stay and figure I can cancel if it goes horrible again. I am very clear with my stylist. All told in the end, all I want is my hair curled. This doesn't seem too complex to me. My hair is done and I love it. My make up is done and I love it. I sleep on my hair and it still looks great the next morning. The manager comped both things because of this second mix up and threw in some styling products. Okay, I'll go with them. They all seem very nice and very apologetic. Cut to the wedding day. I show up with all my girls in tow. As I walk in at my appointment time I see that my stylist is just beginning to foil someone else's hair. This is not what any bride wants to see on her wedding day. We start about 15 minutes late. I'm not sure if my stylist used different products or a different iron, but my hair turns out like it did at the first trial. Flat and not holding curl at all. The curl didn't even hold through the end of getting my make up done let alone through to the beginning of my ceremony. I was extremely upset in the chair and the hair stylist knew it, but short of washing it all out and starting over, there was nothing left to do. After all that I was left with flat, limp hair that I paid a crap ton of money for. If I'm paying $125 to have my hair curled I expect to at least leave the salon with it curled. On top of that, we were supposed to be out of the salon by 12:30 and did not get out until 1:15ish which means I had to rush back to the hotel to get there by 1:30 to meet the photographer and immediately begin getting ready with no buffer time in between. Needless to say, I do not recommend bringing your wedding party here because their work is uneven, scheduling is a major issue for trials, and they cannot get you out on time. I get more and more disappointed as each person posts a picture of me and I see how bad my hair looked during my wedding. read more

Well, this was for sure one of the worse haircut I've ever had. I came in with a very clear idea and a picture of the hairstyle that I wanted. Ashley said that she could have done it! I trusted her. She asked me about the length that I wanted and I've told her that I really wanted to have that haircut, and even though I would've preferred to keep a ponytail length, I was oK with cutting my hair shorter. The result has been miserable, I have to say that she tried very hard and I've felt sorry to keep asking for something that she couldn't make it happen. She also asked for another stylist opinion, however it didn't change much. Ashley kept saying that my haircut was the same that I had shown her in picture, but it was not even close. I will say that I'm extremely disappointed. I would've preferred Ashley to be honest with me at the beginning, and telling me that she wasn't able to cut my hair in the way I wanted. I think that honesty and transparency is way more valuable to try to make somebody happy when other factors are not in place. Overall, I feel extremely unsatisfied! read more

I had the absolute worst salon experience of my life here. Yes...the place is cool and has the look and feel of an upscale salon, so when my previous expertly layered cut was growing out (and being from out of town) I called and asked for a stylist who could cut layers and work with straight fine hair. The receptionist paired me with a stylist (a sweet young girl who shall remain unnamed) and we went over the game plan. Before I knew what was happening she was twirling my hair and hacking with a razor. Eeeek! Eventually the style was unrecognizable, and it is NEVER a good thing when you have to tell the stylist how to finish the cut. I left there in a mild state of shock looking like a witch in a flat Tina Turner wig. I called to voice my dismay, and they offered to have a more expert stylist re-cut my hair free of charge. I was so traumatized and the receptionist was so rude, that I did not feel good about going back for more. I found a salon with an experienced stylist ($85) who said she would NEVER use a razor on my hair as it opens the cuticle and shows every line. She had to cut two more inches off my length to fix the uneven hacked cut. As Charlotte Thomas has a no refund policy, I opted to try the "natural essential oil based" hair products to use up my credit. The products are NOT natural. They gave me a headache and the perfume lingers on bedding, etc., so back they went. Now what? Well, I typically get highlights once a year before summer and figured I may as well use the credit toward a service and hopefully be done with it. I made an appointment for highlights, simple right? No. Not simple. Apparently, between getting straight on the technique, the actual process, toners (which you have to keep coming back every 4-6 weeks), conditioners ($10 per pump and you need two pumps for partials), the whole thing was going to come to $175 before tip AND they wanted me to sign a waiver just in case they accidentally fried my totally healthy hair. Uh, no, not gonna sign anything. Oh, you've had problems in the past with this hence the waiver? Why am I not surprised. I'd been there three times by then and saw lots of empty chairs and different stylists every time. So out of the chair and back to square one with the salon credit. No, thank you, I don't need make-up or candles. I left again and stood outside the place thinking, "This is bullshit!" went back in and asked for a manager or owner. The only reason I am giving two stars instead of one is because they EVENTUALLY refunded my money! And that was the right thing to do. I definitely learned my lesson when selecting a good salon. It all depends on the skill of the stylist, so get personal references for someone that understands your particular type of hair! I don't give a damn about cutesy bios, hobbies or how someone spends their free time. I want a stylist who knows hair...and knows their limits. read more

I don't normally write a lot of reviews on Yelp, but I thought this experience deserved a good review! I've moved a lot over recent years, and I've had to try out a lot of new salons, with very mixed (and sometimes scary) results, but I recently moved to Phoenixville and decided to give Charlotte Thomas Salon a try. I first went there to get my hair styled for my engagement shoot. I wanted loose waves and boho braided style, and Julie did a great job! My pictures came out great, and I got a lot of compliments. Because I had a good experience getting my hair styled there, I decided to go back there for my color and cut. This time I got scheduled with Brittany, and she did an awesome job with the color and cut! I usually get blonde highlights, and blonde color is so sketchy, it can either be done really poorly or great, but Brittany did an awesome job! My hair also smelled amazing afterwards, and I appreciate that they let you watch HGTV while you're getting your color done. Would definitely recommend! read more

I have been making the trip from NYC to Pennsylvania for almost seven years now to get my hair done at Bella Salon in Chester Springs, so I was SO excited to visit their newest salon, Charlotte Thomas, which is located in downtown Phoenixville. I am amazed at how much Phoenixville has changed over the past few years, and Charlotte Thomas is a perfect addition to it's modern new facelift. I stopped through yesterday for their open house and I was blown away! If you've ever visited Bella, you already expect a certain level of perfection, and Charlotte Thomas does not let you down! I'm not sure how they managed to blend rustic with edgy and industrial, but I felt like I was stepping into a Brooklyn interior design feature! Exposed stonework, with chandeliers and an amazing vault door, plus an enormous glass window filled with products... I wanted to move in! I got a chance to meet all the stylists and they are all super trendy and stylish, but very friendly and approachable. Everyone was very interested in my future hair plans (it's currently bright orange) and they gave me a million options to ponder. They offer hair, makeup, waxing (facial only!) and bridal services and I believe they are open Tuesday through Saturday. Do yourself a favor and swing through to check it out! read more

Beautiful salon. My stylist is Julie and she is amazing!!! Every time I leave the salon, I feel beautiful. She is one of their top stylists and for good reason. She is current with all the trends/styles. She always wants to know what you want, will discuss the positives&negatives (i.e.if there are any challenges,etc) and will do everything she can so that you leave happy & feeling pretty. And for the weeks following, people will be complimenting you on your new hairstyle/hair color- it happens to me every time:)) She has an assistant Melissa who is great! Do yourself a favor- go and ask for Theresa Cerni (or "T" as I call her :) She has been cutting my hair for 4 years now and she's a superstar. She is a triple threat- she's amazing at cuts, color and gives a killer blowout. Some stylists are only focused on hair cuts or being specifically a colorist- while Theresa excels at both. My hair is my thing! As women I think we all know how hard it is to find someone we like and trust with our hair, so it's been a relief to have T doing my hair all of these years. We met working at a restaurant years back, and she would do all of the girl's hair on staff including both of the owners! All of our customers would compliment our hair and we'd point to T and give her the credit. A hardworking mother of two, with a laid back and compassionate vibe, she is fun to be around and her creativity shines through in her work. I always leave feeling like a million bucks. I could sell T to you all all day, but I also think Charlotte Thomas has given her a wonderful place to work as well. They often provide classes for the staff, constantly keeping them on the up and up in styling. The salon is beautiful and modern with a vintagey twist as it's in an old bank building boasting high ceilings and exposed stone walls. It is very clean and welcoming, and they offer you coffee and water, and best of all- they carry Bumble & Bumble products and Brazilian Blowout products!! These are a rare find and the absolute best products- they are worth the investment. T is my favorite, but I am confident that all of their staff is going to take great care of whoever walks through the door! read more

This salon does not care about you as a client. My stylist got bleach on my clothes, ruining them, and even after bringing the dress in to the salon, and sending them photo proof (I work in Philly during their open hours) they told me they would do nothing else unless I changed my schedule, I left my clothes there, and trusted them to make the situation right. This was after they accused me of lying and they'd have to "check the tape" to be sure I was telling the truth. I am not a liar and was fine with that, but suddenly the cameras didn't work. A manager pointed out a tiny disclaimer on their brochure that they are not responsible for damages. But I paid for my services in full, I paid again to have the stylist fix it, and I bought products. The bleach spots are in the middle of the back, where I couldn't humanly get it on myself, and it seeped through two layers of clothing. This salon has ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE. read more

I was not satisfied with this salon. I came in like any costumer would with a photo of the haircut and was precise with the details of how I wanted it cut. While getting my hair washed, there was communication between the hairdresser and I as all she did was chat to the hairdresser beside us who was also with a client. This continued through the the process of cutting and blow drying. My stylist decided that she would take matter into her own hands and change the style and the length of the cut, leaving me with a style that I didn't want nor can I sport. Overall, there was a lack of communication which ultimately left me regretting the cut. read more
